Actually, the stock Lenovo drivers are newer than the ones I installed. On the Lenovo Discord threads the opinion seems to be that 511.79 is the safest choice - which is what I got. Considering the age of Nvidia's last standard driver, I thought it would be more likely to screw things so I took the chance on DCH. From past experience the only time I even used Nvidia control panel is when Optimus isn't smart enough to pick the right GPU so I wanted to keep it in my back pocket just in case - not quiet sure how well AMD's implementation will be.

I didnt think DCH drivers will work the LTSC version of Win 10 since it doesnt have MS store. The Nvidia control panel is needed in order to use optimus but the Lenovo Legions uses a MUX switch so you can keep Optimus disabled by having Hybrid mode off without relying on the CP and also it'll disable the AMD IGPU drivers if you have them installed.

The drivers will work fine, it's just you have to side-load the control panel if you want it. If I can keep GPU selection functioning reasonably well on hybrid mode I'd prefer to keep it since the battery life is way better, and I'd be forever forgetting to switch the MUX myself

the MUX provides more performance though, since routing the signal through the igpu as in hybrid mode robs u of significant fps in games...

True that, but as much as I hate to admit it, I'm probably too old to make gaming performance my top priority - says the guy who just bought a gaming laptop ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Which build would be closest to LTSC? As much as I'm loathe to have anything to do with Win.11, morbid curiosity still lurks

they actually have an LTSC build available, if u wanna check that out:

as for Win11, the closest to LTSC would be the latest Pro Plus build:

Im kinda the same way. I havent been gaming much lately due to work and other things. Also i need the battery life more than gaming performance these days, after all i get around 7-8 hours of battery life with the 80WH battery upgrade so it gets me through a work day when i need to bring it with me. Even with Optimus on i still great performance with my overclocked 1660ti especially in Cyberpunk getting 60-70+ on High settings using the FSR 2.0 Mod i been using. A MUX switch is still useful but only wish it had Advanced Optimus which is the best of both worlds.

Intel Arc 31.0.101.3276 graphics driver with new Intel Arc Control 4741 as beta

Intel has updated the graphics driver 31.0.101.3276 for Intel Arc, 11th and 12th Gen CPUs. As an innovation: with this driver, Intel Arc Control has been bundled in the driver package. This should simplify the installation, but also makes the driver package larger… And the Intel driver package is whopping 1.2GB (bigger is better bro @Mr. Fox ?). Yep, I who thought Nvidia had an awful big driver package, LOOL

GeForce 474.06 and 474.04 as security update for Windows 7 to Windows 11 (older cards)

Nvidia has released a security update for the graphics card driver. This update is for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 (GeForce 474.06) and Windows 11 and 10 (GeForce 474.04) Kepler graphics cards. The vulnerabilities CVE-2022-3786 and CVE-2022-3602 are closed. Both were rated "High" and fix an OpenSSL vulnerability.

And of course they don't bother offer it for Kepler Mobile graphics cards. Desktop cards will always get the love. Both for performance and security updates long after the cards go EOL.

Please post your results. I wonder how much this new Nvidia driver will destroy for the users. And be careful if you have the new 4090 gaming flagship from Nvidia.... Minimum one quality fire extinguisher right beside your PC is mandatory😁

As usual... Kepler mobile graphics is treated as <nvidia's> most unwanted stepchild. Pay more... Get less. And the same will happen for Maxwell, Pascal, Turing, Ampere and ADA based Jokebook graphics cards. Does't matter if you pay double up or +5000$ for a gaming Jokebook.... Nvidia hate give you same amount support as for their desktop cards. Wote with your wallet.

Nvidia has released a couple of drivers today for Kepler-based GeForce GTX 600 and 700 series cards. However, these drivers are not your usual Game Ready drivers but are important security updates.

TechPowerUp NVCleanstall v1.15.1 Released

 Techpowerup.com - Jan 24, 2023

TechPowerUp today released the latest version of TechPowerUp NVCleanstall, a handy utility that lets you take greater control over your NVIDIA GeForce software installation. NVCleanstall lets you disable stuff you probably don't need, such as Telemetry, or legacy components, giving your PC a leaner set of system software from NVIDIA. Version 1.15.1 introduces several handy changes. To begin with, the title screen shows whether the currently installed driver is a Studio driver (optimized for creators). A crash during the background update check for new NVIDIA drivers has been fixed.

We've added two more installer tweaks with this release. The first one lets you disable Multiplane Overlay (MPO)—doing so is known to fix certain rare system stuttering issues. Another tweak lets you disable the NVENC concurrent session encoding limits, so you can encode more than two streams in parallel. This tweak uses keylase's patch scripts from GitHub. The "build package" option has been improved to ensure it runs well on systems with more than 20 CPU cores, and better error reporting has been added. Grab TechPowerUp NVCleanstall v1.15.1 from the link below.

TechPowerUp NVCleanstall 1.16.0 is Now Available for Download

by Techpowerup.com Yesterday, 23:15
We have updated our popular NVCleanstall software that lets you customize the NVIDIA GeForce Driver package by removing components you don't need or want. Unlike the NVIDIA custom installation, you can unselect packages like Stereo 3D Glasses, USB-C, Notebook Optimizations, or Telemetry from the NVIDIA drivers, allowing for a truly custom installation. In the latest release of NVCleanstall 1.16.0, the software has been patched with a few interesting additions. Firstly, the software can now disable NVIDIA's Ansel in-game screen capture from the driver package. Next, the software also added a new install action, "Copy Folder," which copies the NVCleanstall output directory to a folder of your choice.

Besides new features, some fixes have been implemented as well. The "auto-accept unsigned driver warning" only worked on Windows 11 and has been fixed now to work on Windows 10, too. A rare crash has been fixed on systems with English (United States) culture settings, but with the decimal separator switched to a value other than "."—"," for example. Due to a change in NVIDIA's drivers the NVENC patch integration stopped working recently, which is fixed with this release as well. The upgrade is recommended for all users.

TechPowerUp Releases NVCleanstall v1.17.0

Techpowerup.com - Yesterday
TechPowerUp today released the latest version of NVCleanstall, our nifty little utility that lets you download and install NVIDIA GeForce drivers with a much higher level of customization than NVIDIA's installer permits. This utility lets you disable (or enable) several components in the GeForce driver package that you can't find in the NVIDIA installer's "Custom install" page, including important settings such as telemetry. Version 1.17.0 introduces several improvements and fixed. To begin with, driver signature rebuild not working on Windows 11 24H2 has been fixed. The startup page now has a "what's new" link that takes you to the driver change-log from the Release Notes. We fixed an issue where the "automatically click driver unsigned warning" option was not working under certain conditions.

The messaging in the "Finished" page of NVCleanstall has been fixed. The driver dropdown now indicates "Windows 10/11" instead of simply "Windows 10." We improved the "build package" screen with a tip that the "-y" argument allows unattended installation. The overall interface has been improved to help with systems that have very low screen resolution. The "experimental" label has been removed from the GitHub-based NVENC Video Encoding Session Limit Patch in the options list. A rare error encountered when unpacking installers has been fixed.
