Arc Alchemist on October 12 - who's gonna be our guinea pig?

So who's gonna buy one and see how it does?

 

I'll admit I'll probably buy a Radeon instead, seems risky from a drivers standpoint to buy Arc Alchemist this generation.  But I'll be curious to read the reviews.  Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll be running a system with an AMD CPU and an Intel GPU instead of Intel CPU+AMD GPU as I run today...

If I still had my 9700K desktop, I'd be all over this, but I don't know how nicely an A770 is going to play in an AMD-based machine LOL.

Not gonna lie, I kinda wanna get A770 not only because it may be a limited edition gpu but mainly because Intel ARC has the best media engine out of all 3 gpu makers. Believe it or not, even better than RTX 4090 media engine LOL

 

This is only useful for video editors of course. In gaming it's around 3060-3060Ti. Might reach 3070 when drivers mature.

best media engine when it actually works though....regarding drivers 😅 plus ure taking a gamble on mid to long term support.

I've been running an Asrock A380 since launch.....I suspect A770 will do just fine.

 

Drivers are still sus. Superposition still won't run right for benching. I use that to judge each release to see how Intel is doing with older(ish) benchmarks and DX.

Intel is all in because it is also their long term iGX and top end technology strategy. The question is will they continue to use the technology to offer consumer grade GPUs.

if they decide to go professional / server only, thatll still leave u EOL for consumer product drivers... in any case, please DO update us if u decide to get one 🙂 still very curious

at a fundamental level. intel joining the fray is a good thing as it will drive gpu prices down and performance up....3 cheers to moores law coming back.

Looks like Acer is getting in on the GPU market with their own A770 design. It actually looks pretty interesting. At some point in the future, I'd maybe like to build an all-Intel mini-ITX destop. Not that I necessarily want the Arc itself but more to support having a third horse in the GPU race.

I have to agree. intel moving in is a really good thing. @saturnotaku as a NBR vet what is your take on Intel moving into the gpu market
