meowpressreturn
If they want me to consider it then they need to provide an option for touchpad buttons. A proper keyboard layout would be nice too. They could even make the touchpad buttons a stupidly expensive option, its not like there's any competition or options in the embuttoned touchypads niche anymore 😞

I think that the power efficiency at lower power levels is not bad, especially with the E cores in play... But, obviously more power = higher performance and competition is forcing Intel to raise power limits in order to stay on top of the performance charts. I suppose they figure you'll buy an Alder Lake "P" or "U" CPU if you want a system that gobbles less power .....? Heck, even the Alder Lake U CPUs have up to 10 cores / 12 threads and can turbo boost to 4.8 GHz. (Dell offers "U" CPUs in the Precision 3000 line.) Aaron44126
Rumored specs showing AD103 as the top GPU for laptops next generation, and NVIDIA could indeed be naming it "GeForce 4090" despite the same 175W limit that we are seeing for this generation. No. Will it be faster, as in, get more work done in the same amount of time overall? For fully multi-threaded loads, likely yes. More cores running at lower power levels (per core) is generally more efficient in terms of performance-per-watt. 1 1 Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) • Dell Precision 7560 (work) • Full specs in spoiler block below Info posts (Windows) — Turbo boost toggle • The problem with Windows 11 • About Windows 10/11 LTSC Spoiler Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) M2 Max 4 efficiency cores 8 performance cores 38-core Apple GPU 96GB LPDDR5-6400 8TB SSD macOS 15 "Sequoia" 16.2" 3456×2234 120 Hz mini-LED ProMotion display Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3 99.6Wh battery 1080p webcam Fingerprint reader Also — iPhone 12 Pro 512GB, Apple Watch Series 8 Dell Precision 7560 (work) Intel Xeon W-11955M ("Tiger Lake") 8×2.6 GHz base, 5.0 GHz turbo, hyperthreading ("Willow Cove") 64GB DDR4-3200 ECC NVIDIA RTX A2000 4GB Storage: 512GB system drive (Micron 2300) 4TB additional storage (Sabrent Rocket Q4) Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 15.6" 3940×2160 IPS display Intel Wi-Fi AX210 (Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3) 95Wh battery 720p IR webcam Fingerprint reader Previous Dell Precision 7770, 7530, 7510, M4800, M6700 Dell Latitude E6520 Dell Inspiron 1720, 5150 Dell Latitude CPi

iieeann
With GaN, 330W should be similar size and weight of old 240W brick. However if this is implemented on next Precision, the USB-C 240W charging will not be applicable again. Most likely we still need to spend money to buy the highest end CPU to run at its minimum speed. same to GPU too. Intel has their own announcement: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/newsroom/news/intel-announces-worlds-fastest-mobile-processor.html A little surprised to see HX announced; it breaks their pattern of announcing only the lower-end CPU first that they have had for the last two years. I haven't seen any specific laptops announced with 13th-gen HX CPUs, but that might be coming any moment now since CES is just getting underway. Aaron44126
13950HX actually has a slightly higher clock speed than 13900HX (...and is listed cheaper??). https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/232149/intel-core-i913950hx-processor-36m-cache-up-to-5-50-ghz.html https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/232171/intel-core-i913900hx-processor-36m-cache-up-to-5-40-ghz.html It looks like the same story as last year; HX CPUs with models ending in "50" are "business versions" with extra features (i.e. ECC memory support). 2 Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) • Dell Precision 7560 (work) • Full specs in spoiler block below Info posts (Windows) — Turbo boost toggle • The problem with Windows 11 • About Windows 10/11 LTSC Spoiler Apple MacBook Pro 16-inch, 2023 (personal) M2 Max 4 efficiency cores 8 performance cores 38-core Apple GPU 96GB LPDDR5-6400 8TB SSD macOS 15 "Sequoia" 16.2" 3456×2234 120 Hz mini-LED ProMotion display Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3 99.6Wh battery 1080p webcam Fingerprint reader Also — iPhone 12 Pro 512GB, Apple Watch Series 8 Dell Precision 7560 (work) Intel Xeon W-11955M ("Tiger Lake") 8×2.6 GHz base, 5.0 GHz turbo, hyperthreading ("Willow Cove") 64GB DDR4-3200 ECC NVIDIA RTX A2000 4GB Storage: 512GB system drive (Micron 2300) 4TB additional storage (Sabrent Rocket Q4) Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 15.6" 3940×2160 IPS display Intel Wi-Fi AX210 (Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3) 95Wh battery 720p IR webcam Fingerprint reader Previous Dell Precision 7770, 7530, 7510, M4800, M6700 Dell Latitude E6520 Dell Inspiron 1720, 5150 Dell Latitude CPi
Nigh on Noon
I'm assuming we'll see a bunch of laptops announced after the Nvidia presentation today, now that both next gen CPUs and GPUs are official. AFAIK it would be unprecedented for Dell to announce something like the Precision 7000 series at CES, though. Presumably Dell would need to wait for Nvidia to announce professional mobile Lovelace for that to happen, but I think they'll just announce Geforce mobile today... Indeed, but we could see perhaps an Alienware product announcement from Dell, or HX laptops from other gaming laptop OEMs, with release windows giving a hint of when the HX CPUs will "really" be available. (Dell Precision 7000 tends to lag behind gaming laptops of the same generation by something like 4-6 weeks.) I'm fully expecting any HX laptops announced to have a "second quarter 2023" release window, but regular H laptops might start dropping around the end of this month or early February.
