If its bare dies it may not suffer quite as much from the higher temperatures? I know there is a sizeable crowd that cares about that sort of thing on desktops but if its reported that your laptop is running target of 95C it probably wouldnt be as easy a pill to swallow. 2 Telegram / TS3 / Twitter 2700X to 5800X3D upgrade! My guess would be BGA and bare die. 2 Louqe Ghost S1 case (Top hat and bottom extension) Nvidia RTX 4070 MSI twin fan 32" MSI 4k 160HZ IPS display AMD Ryzen 7 7700 cooled via Thermalright 240mm AIO 48GB (2x24) DDR5 6000 CL36 Asus B650E-I motherboard 2TB T500 nvme SSD + 2TB SN770 nvme 500W Silverstone SFX-L PSU
1610ftw
AMD has already mentioned the 7945HX when introducing the new naming convention: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/88355/amd-ryzen-cpu-naming-scheme-for-2023-makes-things-clearer-confusing/index.html Doubling the cores from one generation to the next and also offering substantial single core gains makes this AMD generation interesting again.

Totally fine for the chip itself but 95°C may put stress on surrounding components in a laptop, more so than in a desktop. 34 minutes ago, jaybee83 said: btw, weird naming, wth... Companies can't win with us when it comes to naming 😄 7950X desktop turns into the 7945HX in its laptop incarnation it seems - a bit weird I agree but on the other hand it is sufficiently different from the desktop chip to not be mistaken for it. Something that cannot be said for certain other Green Goblins companies.
