Apparently, mommy and daddy somehow posted a "$250M" bond secured against a Palo Alto home (surely not worth anywhere near that amount). Is that a joke? How can a couple of potentially implicated university professors who benefited from the fraud secure a $250M bond?

Lol I read this yesterday also. I also remember mentions of his parents being complicit in the whole thing. How can one mega-fraudster post bail for another mega-fraudster... what a time to be alive

More info on the "$250M bond". A Coindesk opinion piece claims zero actual dollars were posted. Unbelievable, seems that the fraud here has systemic reach. He is looking really smug, I guess we now know why he quickly agreed to be extradited to the US....

The whole ""not your keys, not your crypto"" thing is so true, and it's sad to see people falling for scams like this.
As for the boy wonders behind the scheme, SBF, it just goes to show that greed knows no bounds. It's a shame that such a talented individual with an MIT degree would use their skills for evil instead of good. But let's not let the actions of one person bring down the entire crypto community. The core ideas and ecosystem of crypto are still strong and full of potential. And speaking of potential, have you guys checked out the best scalping strategy for crypto? It's been getting a lot of buzzes lately and could be a great way to capitalize on the crypto market.

SBF now has an additional charge to his name, having allegedly sent $40m of cryptocurrency as a "bribe" to "one or more" Chinese government officials to get some funds unfrozen.

 

Also his bail terms have been updated.  He's not allowed to use a smartphone anymore, he has to use a non-Internet dumbphone.  He has to turn in his laptop and will get a new one configured to "only allow access to certain sites" — doesn't seem like it would be too hard to work around that, if he really wanted to ......?  He's already demonstrated a willingness to skirt the rules while out on bail.

...I read through the list of "allowed web sites" in the court document PDF and I see that archive.org is on the list.  He could use that to access basically anything ...?  I guess it wouldn't allow for outbound communication, though.

I just missed this thread but I read a few posts, TLDR kinda and well it seems like people are attacking elon musk. why on earth, the man in front of the camera is one of the most genuine and kindest type of person, hes nicer than me and hes rich because he's astonishingly smart and an incredibly hard worker, I heard he works 14hours a day, how can you not respect that, and as for the accusations when has the media told the truth. its like asking a monkey if hes ever eaten a bannana and every time the monkey denies lol

There are couple of concerns, e.g. around his treatment of employees and associates, his use Twitter (e.g. to manipulate Tesla stock and doge) and the manner in which conducted the takeover, as well as his sorties into the wonderful world of politics. With that amount of money comes a great deal of responsibility but also public scrutiny.
