  1. so i'm running the latest 460 driver available for windows 7 i think or something like that. but windows 10 is having problems. Both drivers have been modified by NVCleanstall.
  2. then there's no point in talking about 48 gigabytes it's a CPU+chipset problem. and actually 32 gigabytes is still enough
  3. If you have 6 slots soldered into your laptop, it could be 48, but I think you said 3.
  4. even taking into account that your laptop has a desktop chipset it doesn't change much - the same 8 gigabytes per channel, in case of three-channel mode - 24 gigabytes maximum. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/47932/intel-core-i7980x-processor-extreme-edition-12m-cache-3-33-ghz-6-40-gts-intel-qpi/specifications.html if you want you can experiment, but as for me it's a waste of money and bios will not be able to cope with 16 gigabyte modules, just like later bios for 3rd and 4th generation.
  5. The general case since the 1st generation of Intel mobile i-processors is 8 gigabytes per one slot for a memory module. the differences are in the maximum frequencies of this memory. if the slots are soldered 4, then yes maximum 32 gigabytes. but there are quite a lot of pitfalls from manufacturers, so I described only ideal conditions.
  6. the laptop won't boot up properly. 16 gigabyte ddr3 so-dimm modules do not work on 3-5 generation intel processors
  7. Maybe, although it may be a problem with the graphics card itself. or the combination of the laptop architecture and the graphics card driver. for example on my m15x with gtx970m and windows 10 nvidia drivers newer than 390 I think did not want to work.
  8. what laptop do you have this on? because i have optimus working quite well on relatively fresh drivers on m17x r4 and m4800 (something around 550 version i think).
  9. work the same way, but the limit is different, so it is likely that they can draw different numbers of frames.
  10. I think the problem here is not the display but the fact that intel optimus is used - there are limits to iGPU. If intel optimus was more powerful, you might have more frames. I've seen this on an intel 4600 vs iris 5200 comparison
  11. This is a bad idea in my mind, because under the influence of temperature and being bent it will quickly fail.
  12. Hi. Yes the processor can indeed be upgraded - a reasonable maximum is 4910mq. Putting 4940MX and 4930MX processors is not reasonable, although it is possible with reservations. As for the video card - probably a relatively cheap and affordable option is the nvidia m2200. Of course, you can search for a t1000, but it will cost you a lot more. As for the screen to give advice you need to identify what model you have installed and what type of connection edp or lvds
  13. I used a cheap pcie x1 adapter to initially test the card on the desktop As for the 4000 series, the main problem is to find a bios that will allow to start without 4g decoding support. the original bios from x-vsion allowed it. after trying a couple of them from techpowerup I found out that in most cases it is not. now I am trying to find a working version for 45 watts.
  14. it works, but I don't like that it has 8 pcie lines and also the m17x r4 cooling is not well suited for this card because of the high resistor row on the right side of the card
  15. No I haven't tried the 4090 card, I think it's too overkill for the m18x r2 | m17x r4. I originally bought the 4060 for the m4800, but so far I haven't been able to get it to work properly
