Precision M6700 owner's thread
SuperMG replied to Aaron44126's topic in Pro Max & Precision Mobile Workstation
Okay. I got the eDP 120Hz 3D screen and the 3D eDP cable. RTX 4080 not work, doesn't boot. Backlight is on. P5200 with the M6800 vbios patch, doesn't work on M6700. RTX 3000 Turing works on eDP. So anything that's Ampere to Ada don't work... Despite being pure-eDP, direct connection between the GPU and screen. What's wrong? The RTX 4080 and P5200 work fine in LVDS with Optimus on and also in HDMI out with LVDS display. For example, the Dell Precision 7710/7720 works with the RTX 4080, RTX 4070, RTX 3000 Turing. It displays perfectly fine on the main eDP screen. What's the difference between the 7710/7720 and M6700? - 7710/7720 only has one eDP connector and 0 LVDS connector. 0 LVDS lanes on the mobo. - M6700 has both connectors. LVDS lanes are present on the mobo. This motherboard also works with eDP to LVDS with the dreamcolor Dell display... I bought a M6800 eDP. It's similar to the 7710/7720: one eDP connector and 0 LVDS connector. Hopefully the P5200 will work too. I'll test. -
Precision M6800 questions and upgrades

Hello. I don't know anyone who tried this adapter on the M6700 and the M6800. Today I'll test my new eDP 120Hz screen on the M6700, if the screen works, I'll test with RTX 3000 then RTX 4080 MXM. I'll also get a password BIOS locked M6800, eDP screen too. I'll test RTX 3000 and RTX 4080 MXM. I hope these GPUs will work. -
Finally the new RTX MXM cards will work in our laptops!
SuperMG replied to SuperMG's topic in Components & Upgrades
Yes mxm a can be installed, you need a full eDP screen for the best performance on your GT60. Heatsink modification is needed because the VRM and one inductor from the card are taller than anything else. -
Yes there's an empty placeholder for that. You need to add an eDP port, resistance and capacitors for it but unfortunately I don't have the high resolution picture of the motherboard. It can be risky because no one did it as far as I know. It's 30 pin, so you'll be limited to 1080p 120Hz with the 3D LG Screen. Also I'm selling 2 RTX 150W heatsinks v2 for the P570WM, it's on ebay, ebay.us/m/XmgpD0

Hello, the RX 5500 XT has 4 DP ports, so DP on port D too. It should work with your laptop since it accepts eDP for port D. Does the RX 5500 XT have the backlight pins enabled? Any diagrams of the MXM card? Is your card 8gb or 4gb?

Hello did you try it with eDP 3D cable and 1440p screen?

P5200 didn't work (with M6800 VBIOS) on RGB-MB Dreamcolor screen. Maybe it'll work with the 3D cable and pure-eDP? I'll find out -
569€ without a GPU, has 32GB RAM and i7 3840QM with dual heatpipe cooling for the CPU.

Okay I bought the eDP 3D cable and a Samsung LTN173HT02 3D 120Hz eDP screen. I paid like 250€ in total and yes I bought the custom heatsink. There are greater chances that the RTX 4080 will work in eDP with the backlight mod because I'll use pure-eDP screen without any "RGB PANEL/Interposer" on the way. RTX 4080 displayed and worked on Clevo P570WM3 (120hz 30 pins display) and Dell Precision 7720 (60Hz 30 pins display) and of course, the Clevo P775TM (1440p 120Hz 40 pins display). All are pure-eDP. -
Hello, if they have problem with shipping, how are they able to ship their GPUs to other "anonymous people"? Why can't they pick a FedEx/DHL from Hong Kong? That's what most do.

Hello. I still have some backlight eDP mod cable available. Available on ebay. Support would be helpful. The mod won't work on Dell M6700 with Dreamcolor LVDS display. eDP to LVDS doesn't work because the GPU doesn't understand what screen type it is. I couldn't try on pure-eDP because I can't find the 3D cable -

Hello, someone made a new heatsink on ebay for the M6700. It's compatible for the RTX 3060/3070/3080/4080/4090 But these cards are only compatible in LVDS (Internal screen + big impact of performance) or thru HDMI out (full performance). eDP 3D with backlight mod cable, could work? But with RGB-MB, the mod didn't work. -

These VBIOSes are available on techpowerup. I won't recommend to stick anything HP to it meanwhile because of the heatsink. Some HP cards has a small offset of 0.3cm some don't and that's how I broke mine. 160€ down for nothing. Not getting recognized on my Clevo as well. RGB-MB is the worse option. LVDS will work because HDMI out only uses dGPU so it's full performance. eDP 3D would be great too but it's impossible to get one. -
THANKS a lot. You were the only hope because they've been ignoring me and Maro for months... We can flash the VBIOS finally!! They both have the same GPUID so it'll work hopefully.

M6700, eDP (to LVDS, RGB-MD). P3000 boots to bios but not to Windows (stock VBIOS) P5200 worked in LVDS, now doesn't work in eDP?? (VBIOS eDP issues??, modified VBIOS for M6800 laptop) RTX 3000 works and boots to Windows (HP original VBIOS). I'll test the RTX 4080 and see if it boots, I need to test it fast because not adapted heatsink. Edit: RTX 4080 X-VSION. Works only in HDMI out. Boots to Windows. Didn't work in eDP, despite having the backlight mod cable. Boots to HDMI out with backlight mod cable and by unplugging the eDP LCD cable. What is wrong then?? The backlight cable mod works in Clevo P570WM3 and Dell precision 7720. It's probably the interposer between the eDP cable and the LVDS display. The GPU didn't like and made the entire computer not post. -
BUMP. Price 600€ without any GPUs so you can upgrade to your own Quadro RTX 4000, 5000 or GeForce RTX 3060, 3070. Someone wanted it for 600€ without a GPU but he isn't answering since 5 days. I, of course will include all of the heatsinks for this laptop that I own. I'm selling in Leboncoin because less fees than ebay.

Best GPU for this laptop is a 4070 in PEG. RTX 4070 MXM type-A. I already made a thread about having issues in upgrading to an RTX 4070, turns out I didn't do a good heatsink mod. Now everything works. 4070 in eDP PEG.

Hello. Never and it works in SG with my M6700 using a HP ZBOOK G5 P5200 VBIOS. Also, someone got interested in the M18X R2 with i7 3840qm and no GPU because he'll upgrade to an RTX 3060 MXM

Hello any news yet? Does the AX210 work in another laptop? If yes, does it detect as a wifi card?

Not yet. But yes the heatsink needs to be modified. RTX 4070, 4080, 4090 worked on the P775TM. For 4080/4090, ZRT/Enbik are prefered brands because of their VBIOS (DP/DP/HDMI/eDP, enabled eDP and not disabled eDP, otherwise blackscreen after drivers installation) -

Thanks. Yes every of my MXM cards are DP_D, it's the standard to have eDP for DP_D (except for HP ZBook G1/G2?) So I need the 06VCJW cable then? For any eDP screens (1080p to 4K)? -

Hello, is the eDP cable for the M6700 is the 0YXDPN 30pin? What screen do you recommend? I have Quadro P5200 with VBIOS chip that will get removed from the Alienware M18X R2 I'm selling. I could test the RTX 3000 or RTX 4070 MXM but it's already installed as PEG eDP in my Precision 7720. -
Hello, the same happened with X-VSION. They found a way to counter it. Ask them how to avoid that, maybe by sanding the GPU die or by removing the serial number label. Or by changing shipping company and sending it from Hong Kong (instead of China) to Japan?

Did you uninstall the previous Wi-Fi drivers? Any wi-fi drivers should be uninstalled. Then install the newest drivers, it'll work with Windows hopefully but still won't work with the Clevo software. You say it's detected but is there any errors? Like error 43?
