Hello that's interesting. Yes this could also fix the issue on the CLEVO X7200, dual PEG. We can finally use the slave GPUs at 100% of the power. So the best for this system would be a K3000M + Quadro RTX 5000. Also the X58 has more bandwidth than the M18XR1 intel Chipset. I'll give later the x7200 slave MXM port picture if anyone is interested.

Finally the new RTX MXM cards will work in our laptops!
SuperMG replied to SuperMG's topic in Components & Upgrades
Yes, it works on P570WM3, P870KM, Dell Precision 7720. So of course it'll work for you. Since you have an eDP system, it'll work easily. You have a 4k screen? You might have a HBR2 display so it'll work, just try. -
MXM RTX4090 Mobile is coming, Any possibility?
SuperMG replied to DevilAnGeL's topic in Components & Upgrades
Hello thanks for the answer. Are you connected with the manufacturer? Do they have vbios from ZRT? Because ZRT have a different display output order than X-VSION. -
Yes they can, it says on the first message of the forum on how that works. Kepler + Pascal/Turing. Ampère and Ada won't work due to drivers.

MXM RTX4090 Mobile is coming, Any possibility?
SuperMG replied to DevilAnGeL's topic in Components & Upgrades
Hello. Is this a ZRT version? It looks like one! Do you actually have it? Because you could save the vbios and we can use it on the X-VSION 4090. -

Yes, the 4080 and 4090 work, I tested with an OEM P570WM heatsink + Noctua 12cm 5V USB fan. As we know, 4070 works on clevo P870 with the drivers, with the backlight mod. I did a discovery about the X-VSION's 4080 and 4090. Black screen at the end of the installation of the drivers!! I then took my instructions and did the "EDID manipulation with CRU". After that, I got a display with the drivers installed, no problems. I can even reboot without having to set for a startup and shutdown scripts!! Sleep and savings mode work! So for my P570WM3, I have to do the EDID manipulation then set the scripts For my P870, "only one time" EDID manipulation and then install the display. No need to do the extra steps. Very strange that the 4070 works fine with eDP but for the X-VSION's 4080/4090, you have to take some "extra steps" despite being a newer eDP display... I'll try and get a 1440p 120Hz display and a 40pin cable for the P870 and see if I need to do the extra steps or not. Yes these cards work great on the laptop. -

I'm gonna manufacture some P870 T heatsinks for the new RTX "center offset cards". So the 3080, 3080 Ti, A4500, 4080 and 4090 would work because I wanted to try the 4080 but it doesn't fit -
For the MXM upgrades: flex FPC cable backlight mod + 4090 works in the master slot! Here are some benchmarks!

Flex FPC cable mod works on Dell Precision 7720 with an RTX 4070 and 4080. Sleep mode works, brightness control doesn't work on this motherboard. -

If you follow the tutorial, this is the result of success! Everything running in the main eDP screen! GPU running in pure PEG mode (master MXM). Thanks to the flex FPC cable, for allowing such easy modification without risking doing some soldering! RTX 4090 Laptop MXM card, artificially capped at 120W TDP (resistors) -

Instructions on how to install my cable: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WHUin3-smrum8xljcuWOKrRe66i3tpW8/view?usp=drivesdk -
Upto 150W with the OEM fan And maybe upto 175W with a strong fan. Since the flex cable mod for backlight enable worked. It means I have extra space for BETTER COOLING! I'll make a powerful 220W heatsink with two blocks of fins, 6 heatpipes!! 4090 175W HERE WE GO.

You need to be in test mode on windows in order to install NVCleaninstall drivers. If that doesn't work, then you probably did something wrong in the configuration of the drivers. -

You can use NVCleaninstall if you don't understand the editing of an .inf file. -

SuperMG replied to SuperMG's topic in Components & Upgrades
Do normal standard powered MXM GPUs work on this laptop? If yes, then it's ok. Yes Aetina, X-VSION, ZRT 4080/4090 and an eDP display would work. Since when 2070 Super MXM exist? Is that a Clevo variant with the power connector? It works out of the box without any flex FPC cable mod. You only have to edit the drivers .inf file or you can use NVCleaninstall to install the drivers easily. -
Finally the new RTX MXM cards will work in our laptops!

Good some news!! After playing around with EDID configurations and windows startup scripts, I managed to use an RTX 4080 MXM on a DP 1.1/1.2 2012 laptop! No more black screens after the loading screen! So the Ampère wasn't the maximum for this laptop! With a bit of trickery on the OS, I managed to get the RTX 4080 to work on my P570WM. Brightness control = working Sleep mode = working Saving mode = working No problem on the GPU side, full TDP boost. NVIDIA recognise it has a NON HDCP display, at 1080p 120Hz at 2.7Gbps and eDP. The 3080 doesn't have brightness control once the drivers are installed because it's a DP based output and not an eDP based one. (Could find a workaround on Windows to bring back the brightness control, depending if your motherboard supports that) For laptops using DP 1.3/1.4 (2014-2019), you don't need to do any modification regarding to your OS because your eDP screen is compatible with the newer bandwidths. I need to try to use the 4080 on the P870/Dell Precision 7720 to reconfirm that. All thanks to the flex FPC cable that allows such easy modification, no more soldering required for MXM eDP laptops! The cables are available for sale. Either PayPal friendly or on eBay + a pdf guide (DM me) -
I have PremaBios

Finally the new RTX MXM cards will work in our laptops!

If some of you didn't see. Hello, here are some news about the flex FPC cables! Yes I got them and I applied them easily on the GPU with my bare fingers. Here's the result, an RTX 3080 MXM (DP, non-eDP) inside a 2012 laptop's master MXM slot! 1080p 120Hz, Sleep/Saving modes work! Brightness control works for my laptop but it depends... maybe for yours it won't work. My laptop is using the DP 1.1 or 1.2 protocol. I tried the 4080/4090 (DP++), they worked, displayed on the main eDP screen but they failed the drivers installation because of a blackscreen after Nvidia checking the display/connectors. Because my laptop and its screen is too old to accept the obligatory DP++ (DP 1.3/1.4 protocol). Maybe a different vbios of the 4080/4090 with a basic DP or eDP would work on my laptop? If your laptop is from 2015-2019, the RTX 4080/4090 will work because yours is compatible with DP++. I'll test that using a P870 and a Dell Precision 7720. So yes, Nvidia Pascal isn't the best generation anymore for our MXM laptops, it's Ampère/Ada! -
RTX 3080 in a 2012 laptop's MXM master slot and it's outputting in eDP and HDMI. All thanks to the flex cable FPC blacklight mod v1
-
I got the cables. They work with my P570WM. I tested the 4080. Cable 100% works for backlight. 278, 280 are always 3.3V_RUN. Sleep mode and brightness control works! but... It displays on windows without a driver but at the end... I can't install Nvidia drivers. DDU + install thru disk .inf file DDU + NVCleanInstall None work! Even restarting, I can see the bios splash, the windows loading screen and BLACK SCREEN! Although, I can access to the windows "safe mode" to uninstall the drivers, but it's not worth it because it'll again blackscreen once the drivers installation has been completed. I tried to use Anydesk, once the driver installed, it says the drivers have been installed successfully and on the device manager... I got an error 43 and the screen resolution was at 640x480 instead of 1920x1080 initially... EDIT: SAME HAPPENS WITH THE RTX 4090 HELP! This card was working fine as a slave card too... I don't understand guys, help please... Probably these cards have DP++ or something that's blocking display for the standard DP display I have. I'll test these cards on Dell Precision 7720 and P870 later on... EDIT: I TESTED THE RTX 3080 MXM... It works on the P570WM!!! 1080p 120Hz! Drivers installed successfully! Full TDP, no bugs! Sleep mode and saving mode work! I suppose the 3080 has basic DP and not DP++...

It'll work. Because Sliderfra tested the solder mod and his PNY RTX 3000 worked. PNY, ADLINK and AETINA share the same PCB, for 3000, 4000, 5000. Please compare the PCB and you'll understand -

News, the production of the v1 is finally finished! I'll receive the 35 pieces I have ordered in 5 days. I hope they better fit between the MXM slot and the MXM card! There's a 0.15mm total thickness so it's good! But will they work in the real world? Let's test! So yes. I'll save 3 pieces for myself and I'll list 32 pieces online. Either PayPal payments or on eBay. -
Eurocom sells some P570WM motherboards with eDP and its eDP display cable. The eDP connector is 30 pin. The motherboard costs like 500€ and cable maybe 20€. The only modification I did was making a new heatsink for the new RTX MXM GPUs.
