For the Metric System people: We had a very cool May/June staying in the 60s and 70s which is very strange for this time of year. Our average temps are normally in the 80s and at times hitting 90s with high dew points. The good thing about it is that we're saving money on our electric bill because we're not using our AC, The bad: the lack of rain until recently and getting the smoke from the Canadian Wildfires Example NYC: Philly:

I have a bad history with HP laptops in the past, even my last laptop which was a HP ENVY 17 went through it a share of issues and im surprised it still works even though its 9 years old after repairing most of it myself including a motherboard replacement. Im sure they've improved a lot since then and i would buy one at a good price but the only problem i have with the HP OMEN's is that they been using the same chassis design since 2020 with no changes whatsoever besides the CPU and GPU.

Same here even with the latest version of Firefox everything still works so its not a big deal, Same goes for Chrome after they stopped supporting Windows 7/8.1. I can still watch youtube videos and web browse without any problems. As long you stay away from certain sites you'll be fine.

Sadly its the new normal where big tech companies trying to be the moral police and control speech, Scary world we live in where you can have your devices shutdown for a BS reason. Speaking of that its funny that Amazon actually protected one of their employees after the company is known for treating their employees like crap for many years!.

That is a steal for a RTX 4090 laptop and the i7-13700HX is a pretty powerful CPU but sadly the HP Omens still uses the same chassis design since 2020...

Phantom Liberty Trailer finally released Also there are a lot of changes coming with the perk system and cybernetics that will make the game less boring and more interesting https://www.gamespot.com/articles/phantom-liberty-rewrites-cyberpunk-2077s-dna/1100-6515050/

The thunderbolt port will help out if you decide to go with the e-GPU route Yea true, there are others like the ASUS Zephyrus, HP OMEN (Still uses the same design from 2020..), and others i cant think of atm.
-
You can get one for less than $1500 now, OEMs badly want to get rid of them 😆 Btw does your current laptop has a thunderbolt port like most Intel laptops?
-
There are plenty of non-gaming laptops that uses a dedicated GPU like the HP Envy, Dell XPS, Dell Inspiron, Lenovo Thinkpad and etc in the market now, Normally they'll use the lower wattage versions which are great for content creation and light gaming.

The smoke and haze from the Canadian Wildfires spreading all over here in the Northeast USA if you guys seen the news. The air quality is pretty awful Its much better today than it was yesterday.
-
It happens in Windows 10 too even with disabling driver updates. The work around i used is to rollback to the previous AMD drivers which will reinstall the newer drivers you've installed and after that it wont do it again.

what laptop should i buy Still Considering New Laptop
KING19 replied to random_soldier1337's topic in What Laptop Should I Buy?
You're still being vague with your answers and you still hasnt mentioned what type of gaming performance you're looking for. Just go with a RTX 4090 laptop and be done with it, You'll destroy every game out there on 1440p especially with DLSS and Frame Gen turned on,Many different brands has them like ASUS, Lenovo, Razer, MSI, Dell/Alienware and etc, and there are often paired with a Intel i9-13900HX CPU. You can go to your local store like Best Buy to test them in person to see if you like the screen, build quality and so on, The decision is up to you. You can even go with a 3070ti or 3080ti laptop has there been crazy sales on them, Anything will be better than your old GTX 1070 laptop. -
😆😆 The Cameraman is the hero we needed!. Also the dancers kept dancing to their routine during the mess 😁

This. Even with the template is still hard for us to suggest anything if you're not specific especially with an unlimited budget, even with that it doesnt mean you should spend a crazy amount of money for a gaming laptop, there are other factors to consider like build quality, upgradeability, keyboard, port selection and so on. Also a RTX 4050 is the entry level GPU in the 40 series and it has the same performance as the RTX 3060, its good for 1080p gaming but QHD+ is where it shows it weakness. I would say go no unless than a RTX 4080 because it destroys last gen best laptop GPU RTX 3080ti by over 30% with the addition of DLSS 3/Frame Generation which only 40 series GPUs support. There are many options out there. -
Drinking a glass of El Jimador. Been a long and tiring week.

Seeking recommendations on a new laptop!
KING19 replied to wardnine's topic in What Laptop Should I Buy?
I remember that thread and @kojack is still stuck on that even though its been debunked over and over even on here and refuses to let it go. You aint going to get full power on a laptop on battery no matter what you do especially with Intel and AMD U processors. Also OEM's adds their own tweaks as well. We're up to the 7000 series with AMD and 13th Gen with Intel and you cant do any wrong with either one these days. -
*Official Benchmark Thread* - Post it here or it didn't happen :D

Mind well post this one too because its reliable but this guy is more entertaining and informative!. Cant escape from the castration!. -
Yea agreed and its one of the reasons why people buy overpriced Macbooks every year. The weakness of thin and light laptops that almost everything is soldiered to the motherboard... (RAM, WIFI card, and even the SSD) This year would of been a good opportunity to revive DTR laptops because this year's Intel and AMD CPUs are close to desktop level performance.

There are some RTX 4090 options on lenovo's site but you're going to be spending over $3000 for one especially in your country (Canada) unless you get lucky with coupons and using cashback sites like Rakuten, Honey, and etc. Here the cheapest one i can i find https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1745684-REG/lenovo_82wq002tus_16_legion_pro_7.html I think @saturnotaku posted this link before.

It is possible due to the fact that the RTX 4050, RTX 4060, and RTX 4070 dont use their full wattage.

Yea true. Not only the weight but they complain about thickness even though its still pretty thin as hell like most modern desktop replacements. A real behemoth would be the old alienwares and even the old Toshiba Satellite X205 aka Qosmio which my brother had. That thing was thick as hell and ran very hot. Good times!. @PapusanLooks like NVIDIA are releasing a 16GB VRAM version of the RTX 4060Ti https://www.notebookcheck.net/Nvidia-GeForce-RTX-4060-Ti-rumoured-to-arrive-with-two-VRAM-configurations.716155.0.html

When Jarrod does his reviews he also tests non-gaming 3D workloads especially content creation apps. I agree with you that a GPU is also a worktool but if people are going to use it for work too they'll avoid buying a laptop that screams gaming laptop in looks and design. Some gaming laptops like the Lenovo Legion series looks more like a thinkpad/business laptop more than a gaming laptop
-
Like Jarrod said in the video the GPUs are being voltage limited and its by design. You're basically wasting money for the higher wattage version. Damn... personally i dont expect a mid range GPU to have more than 8GBs VRAM. It seems to be aimed at 1080p and 1440p gamers. Even older GPUs would go overboard with the VRAM amount because NVIDIA and AMD was tricking people to make them think that higher VRAM amounts means higher performance Also this is worst than the VRAM amount. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/geforce-rtx-4060-ti-retailer-listed-specs-look-worse-than-rtx-3060-ti

Remember when higher wattage = higher performance. Those days are now dead and Nvidia is scamming people hard..
