  1. Modern standby has nothing to do with Lenovo at all, Its a windows feature. I dont know the full details about it though. You could increase the length of time of when the display turn off when plugged in Power Options if that helps. Display and Standby problems normally caused by the VGA drivers. In your case it could be a problem with advanced optimus if your legion supports it. What version is your NVIDIA drivers?
  2. Im curious what kind of hell Windows 12 will bring since this is the path they continue to follow and not learning from their mistakes
  3. Cyberpunk Patch 1.61 Released 11/8/2022 https://vulkk.com/2022/11/08/cyberpunk-2077-patch-1-61-changes-overview/ FSR 2.1 officially added
  4. Im not surprised because there isnt many improvements over Windows 10. Plus older PCs dont support TPM 2.0 which was a dumb move on Microsoft's part. Also Windows 11's marketshare wont improve much as Windows 12 is supposed to be released in 2024
  5. Decided to buy Resident Evil Village (RE8) since work has finally died down somewhat so i have some free time and i am enjoying the game so far, Love the gameplay and graphics and the fact that the game doesnt hold your hand much as i kept dying in the Lycan attack in the beginning of the game as i kept running out of pistol ammo and resources to craft more and getting lost in Castle Dimitrescu but still making good progress so far as im learning more about the game. Its still a fun experience
  6. IGN isnt reliable, dont go by review sites that are bought and paid for. The game is getting good reviews from players so far. If you want to buy the game go for it and see it for yourself!.
  7. AMD graphic/display drivers sucks tbh especially their stock drivers which causes that issue. I had some problems with standby in the past and other issues but not anymore with their newest drivers but then again i only use standby when im home and shutdown when im taking my laptop to work and other places as i dont want it to accidentally wake up and roasting in my bag. Anyways i hope nothing goes wrong with this one. 😁
  8. A paypal account is easy to create and its a safer option than the other payment options on their site. Also never use a debit card when buying things online especially when buying things from international websites for obvious reasons. Always use a credit card when doing online shopping.
  9. Agreed. Its good to disable turbo when on battery as you really dont need it and also you gain some more battery life and Intel CPUs badly needs it. The power option registry tweak is a very useful tweak that everyone should use. Aaron said is good to have it disabled when you're doing light tasks like web browsing, watching videos, office work, and etc especially when running on battery but he flips it on with the Power Option tweak when plugged in when gaming and video encoding for obvious reasons because the i7-12700H has a base clock speed of 2.3GHZ which will cause some stuttering especially when playing games when boost is off losing performance. Even with turbo boost on NVIDIA Dynamic boost will lower the boost speeds of the i7-12700H if its heavy GPU game so im surprised his temps are hitting 100C. @Trevayne10You could try repasting depending how long you had your Omen, it could be a bad paste job from the factory and/or when playing games instead of putting it flat on a table lift the back of your laptop where the fans are
  10. 11. Since its going to be used as a secondary drive/data drive you dont need anything special You cant do no wrong if you go with the Samsung EVO series. You can also check out TEAMGROUP MP34 SSDs if they're available in your country. Its the one i am using with my Legion 5, It's a underrated SSD which rivals the Samsung EVOs in terms of warranty and endurance.
  12. They're insane for that... Personally i was thinking about trying out FC6 but the series went downhill over the last few years. I feel like playing FC3 again but its likely i lost my saved game since it was saved on their cloud and the servers shutdown this month.....
  13. It does according to Jarrod and it drops below 50nits at 50% brightness 2020: (300nits 144Hz) 2021 (300 nits 165Hz): Its actually worse on the 2021 model with the 165Hz screen. I dont know what Jarrod uses to measure it but it seems only Lenovo laptops suffers from this. Like i said even at 40-50% brightness its very usable despite the lower brightness.
  14. I was going to say this might make me finally update my NVIDIA drivers but the performance increases only applies to RTX GPUs and not GTX GPUs as well...... Im still looking forward to the results though if the claims are true.
  15. Yea that true but it isnt a major problem if you're indoors anyways and/or not in a room filled with sunlight. Even at 40-50% brightness with my 2020 Legion 5 300nit screen when i am running on battery its very usable. You can always keep it at 100% if you dont mind losing battery life or if you keep it plugged in with conservation mode on
  16. The Legions have good build quality especially the 2022 models. The Pro and the Legion 7s uses QHD+ screens with 500 nits of brightness. The Legion 5 can be configured with a QHD screen and decent 1080p Panels as long you avoid the cheapest panel especially in retail stores. You could try to look for non-gaming laptops like the HP ENVY, Lenovo Thinkpad, and maybe the DELL XPS with a dedicated GPU but you might have to increase your budget somewhat.
  17. It comes in a sheet form look at @JeanLegi 's screenshots. The sizes you buy represents how much you need as a backup incase you wanna do another repaste in the future and incase you messed up. Every CPU and GPU have different die sizes and as long you cut enough to cover the CPU/GPU die it'll be fine. You can try practicing with a piece of paper For me i got paste version which isnt good as the pads but it still works pretty well but its a pain to spread because its thick
  18. Ofc and as i said it uses advanced optimus. It uses the 130w RTX 3060(Last Year's) and not the new 140w version. It can be configured up to a RTX 3070ti
  19. Yea it would be nice. GTAV and RDR2 takes up way too much space for no reason and i dont even play the online mode anymore since they're filled with modders and cheaters. Cyberpunk before the 1.6 update was around 40-50GBs i think but after the 1.6 update it went up 67GBs. Companies stopped listening to customers a long time ago and they gonna milk GTAVI online to death like V. I hope it flops since Rockstar/take two is no longer the same company they used to be and a lot of good people left like Dan Houser after RDR2.
  20. Either one will be fine as you gonna measure and cut the pad yourself to make sure it covers your CPU and GPU die. It comes in a sheet form btw. 20*30 might be too little as you gonna need some extra as backup incase you make a mistake and if you want to do another repaste in the future
  21. Update: Added Jarrod's full review Quick facts from his review: The Lid is made out aluminum and but the rest of the laptop made out of plastic Advanced Optimus is supported G-SYNC is only available with the 1440p Panel and the 1080p 165Hz Panel. USB-C 4 is supported for the AMD version so thunderbolt devices can be used but had BSODs when he tried to use his E-GPU with it, The Intel version supports Thunderbolt 4 Overall its a improvement over the 2020 and 2021 models.
  22. Lenovo's BIOS updates are pretty badm I havent updated mines in almost 2 years because most of their BIOS updates are either buggy or bricking your system. Anyways It sounds like your problem is a hardware issue since you did everything you could at a software level and with the GPU flickering while running timespy and stuttering while playing games among issues with the touchpad. You should return it and either exchange it for another unit or get a refund.
  23. You can check out mid-range gaming laptops within your budget like the Lenovo Legion series, HP Omen, Dell G Series and others since you're going to be doing heavy 3D tasks. Since battery life will be factor a laptop with an AMD CPU would be a better choice than Intel laptops but Intel's CPU's perform better in productivity tasks especially 12th Gen ones and they often have a thunderbolt port. Its a lot of choices within your budget.
  24. Its real, Rockstar/Take Two confirms the leak/hack and are taking down any videos that people uploaded of GTA VI's gameplay including the ones you've posted. I saw some of the videos yesterday, most likely its a pre-alpha build from years ago and also people said that the hacker got the source code too. Also it confirms female protagonist from the article What a disaster, I never heard of any AAA game company that allows a hacker to get the codes and footage on any game that is current under development. At first i thought it was a angry fired employee who did this because its a common thing that happens with big companies. Then again i dont feel sorry for them because Rockstar/Take Two are no longer the same company they used to be and the people who worked on the GTA series and the RDR series left years ago.
  25. I think its fair to make a separate thread for non-pro version of the Legion 5. Full Review:
