Yeah I agree, this is why Im a dying breed. I prefer GTA V on PC because of the mods. and as for like 100 AAA games most are modable, and sometimes it can be a literal game changer. Heck I remember realifesis mod for crysis, it made what was at the time a 3 year old game look like it was from 10 years in the future. also I dabble in VR so PC is the only option. but when it comes to just vanilla gaming consoles are hard to beat, for example i'm waiting on forza motorsport and early performance metrics are in and it looks like with my 3060 ill have to game at 4k/60 all low. xbox series x does medium/high and all for 550 bucks vs 2000

Honestly Im saving up for a desktop for casual gaming, but I have my doubts. 3k to play games at high 4k/60 seems like alot when a console can do the same for 700. most if not all good games are console ports these days and revolutionary games like half life 2 and crysis are extinct. they just don't exist unless you are talking about a mediocre indie game. I get why people upgrade just to have the bleeding edge, its satisfying and enjoyable getting higher scores and testing out games only to find games you previously could not play now play well. It is strange that a 4080 laptop is cheaper than a 4070 desktop alot of times, as it includes often times a per key rgb keyboard/1440p monitor 165-240h/ and a trackpad. even though it's nicer buying a dedicated keyboard and a oled 4k monitor ect. it costs alot more, like look at @jaybee83 I have no idea what he spent but id imagine it cost north of 5k and in canada thats like 40 cool million. honestly I just don't know. I might just get a top tier laptop in 2025 because it's likely to be cheaper, but im tired of this soldiered crap. time will tell

yeah I don't see any point unless your a benchmarker, I don't know of many applications for that kind of power but i'd imagine for photo editing which no one i know does would be of benefit. I think what you have should serve you well for half a decade, i have a omen laptop that is still kicking at 1080p and 1440p 2 years later and I can see it lasting 5 more years at 1080p. your not one to upgrade every itteration, and thats probably a good thing

@hfm @cucubits are you guys close to beating starfield and what would you rate it now that you have logged significant time playing. im just starting and have only logged 25 hours id give it a 7/10 but I do like it just wish the graphics were better it is 2023 and wish their was more immersion like more detailed side missions.

are you planning on getting a 14th gen intel cpu. it will be interesting to see how the mobile i7 compares to a 11800h and how the 14900ks compares to the common 5800x3d in gaming. not many games require a beefy cpu but that is set to change with new games like forza motorsport.

@serpro69 you wouldn't happen to know when the next installments of andor/mandalorian/bobba are coming, seems like forever for andor

IGN gave it a 8/10. Basically everyones praising the handling and incredible graphics. but the lack of credits and the upgrade system seems to be a aquired taste and is hindering the game from getting its deserved 10/10. I personally have yet to play it I might get the premium addon to play it now or wait till the 10th. tough call.

its simple haha but harder to explain because its simple. so its just what the laptop sits on. it sits on foam. now where the vents are on the side it sits on three pieces of paper under the laptop. the curve helps dissipate airflow but its the fact their is less friction for the air to move away from the laptop, luckily I took physics in school, remember a tiny bit. so if you own a gaming laptop, buy an iets gt500 and put paper under the vents inbetween laptop and cooler foam. I swear it will drop temps by 20-25c, for me its 35c lower because I have a cooler place now, opened the windows -

I can't seem to post pictures in the forum. Bah I'll just explain better So your cooler. Laptop sits on top. Sits on a foam riser. If you put a piece of paper in between laptop and foam right under vents. It decreases friction as the compression from the foam creates a blockage of air. I think someone should make a youtube tut on this simple fix..quick way to get some exposure and 200k views. Also I'd like to add I'm not exaggerating and it at the minimum knocks down temps 20c on top of the 10c the stock cooler. I can post proof if anyone's skeptical ok edit, the pictures are not great as its dark in my room, but i emailed them from my phone. quick update the real test is project cars to as for whatever reason its the only game that really pushes my cpu to 90-100c with lower clocks like say 3.7ghz. now im running 4.6ghz and temps are peaking at 85c but stabilizing around 74-75c. also in the first pic it looks like the paper is blocking the flow but the paper is under the the laptop and curved down -

ok ill take a picture, its hard to describe but the fix is less than 30 seconds and everyone has a peice of paper. I thought hey this might help with temps I was not thinking hey ill be able to run 4.6ghz vs 4ghz and get lower temps on top, i just woke up but yeah im testing cinebench right now for some reason the new cinebench isnt as demanding as cinebench r23 temps are lower. but yeah getting just the cooler using as intended lowered temps 10c and with the paper it literally dropped it 30c which is funny as doing such a simple mod you think the geniuses at iets would include a piece of plastic like a spacer to add for it. ok give me 10 -

I was thinking, how the heck do I get the temps down, thought for like 10 seconds which is rare for me. applied some physics. put 3 sheets of paper under the laptop vents so that the hot air gets pushed out faster with the lowered friction due to less surface area than the foam this is amazing guys, IT DROPPED MY TEMPS BY 20c on top of the 14c gain. thats 34c drop just from a cooler and mod. I hope other owners of the iets gt500 see this and do the same, if your trying to cool a peice of poop laptop that overheats -34c is a big deal. and yes I was able to run 4.6ghz for the first time in 2 years and it didn't even touch 90c. I broke a cpu record in firestrike, highest 11800h cpu score out of thousands of admissions. here: Im going to boot up my favorite game of all time crysis three and see if I can run 4.6ghz on cpu and 2150mhz core. should hover around 60c...reporting back.. also I know you guys don't give a rats ass about laptops but its the passion and effort and the pay offs that is worth it even for laptops. similar methods and goals. -

slight oc (120) cpu at 4.2-4.6ghz tops out at 88c with iets gt500

Identical settings for config fan on fan off is the only change cinebench r23 cpu at 3.8ghz iets gt500-80C stock fan-94c(throttles) 14c difference and its real 😛 gpu did ok, not as good as cpu 75.3 with iets gt500 87.7 with stock fans and once again thermal throttling 12.4c difference.

thats insane 9000mhz. imagine if the 13900ks got that high with just liquid. Welp. Its official in my books as iv'e done enough testing on my new cooler. Identical settings for config fan on fan off is the only change cinebench r23 cpu at 3.8ghz iets gt500-80C stock fan-94c(throttles) 14c difference and its real 😛 gpu did ok, not as good as cpu 75.3 with iets gt500 87.7 with stock fans and once again thermal throttling 12.4c difference. since im throttling stock at such low clocks. even shaving off 14c-12c on gpu and cpu doesn't allow me to touch record scores with benchmarks they are fairly short lived they are not an accurate representation and ideal gaming settings so i guess its pointless was it worth it, oh heck yes. now I can boot my computer and jump into a game without tweaking anything and be in the 60s-70s C. really nice vs thermal throttling. now to get the ptm 7950 phase change pads(official ones) im hopeful that I can push this system further with the ptm 7950. but as im dirt poor ill have to wait till the end of the month. with realistic settings, for my setup a 120mhz core overclock and 0 on the sensitive ram(haha you guys are nuts) and cpu at 3.9-4.1ghz im topping out at 77-78c on gpu and cpu. very exciting as recently ive been gaming alot more in the last two weeks than i have in the last 5 years combined. -
lol bro, I laughed reading that thanks. yeah its pretty crappy mess. lol. I was nice to it but yeah it honestly is really a 7-6/10. pretty cool that you can play it on a chromebook. but if your into rdr2 and would rather play that with geforce now your outta luck

Iets gt500. Just got it. Holy Smokes is it loud. This thing sounds like jet engine. Will post results. So far overclocked I'm stabilizing at 74c cpu and gpu. Normal settings around 56c -
Is Starfield available on GeForce now? Yes, my friends, the mythical Starfield is on Nvidia GeForce Now, but that's not all. It's also available through PC Game Pass on Nvidia GeForce Now. So, all you have to do is spend about $30 a month to play Starfield at 4K 60 FPS over your internet connection.Sep 14, 2023

My iets gt500 s2 4600rpm should be in this morning. Super excited to see if I can overclock cpu and remain under 80c. I only have one game I play that would benefit at 4k to get the Magix 120 and its an oldie. Crysis. -

Yeah my first post was going to be. That is overkill for me personally. I really think bit coin is here to stay and there's still a chance it could eventually hit 100k. They have been speculating for years. I don't want to be nosey but do you think it's worth ming on a single 3060 gpu. And how much could one expect with 24/7 ming per month. I really look up to you guys. I find it interesting how eclectic your knowledge in electronics is.
