about 12 sources are saying the 5090 will likely be a 1.7x or 77 percent uplift. if the accuracy turns out, its pretty exciting news, thats a pretty big bump with its supposed 24 000 cuda cores and gddr7. if it does end up being 70 percent faster and I buy one then I will definately be good for 4k gaming for about 5 years and that is worth the 2k price, but price wise no one really knows but I expect the typical you get more but you pay more pricing.
depends on your expectations for 4K gaming @5 years. 6 years ago the 2080 Ti was released, compare its performance in today's AAA titles at 4K with RTX on and ull see what u potentially get with a 5090 after 5 years 🙂

When some of the mainstream YTers try to say faster memory is really a waste and no real gains, then you get B4B who actually does some tuning comparing 6000 vs 8600 for gaming.
This is right along the lines of the gains I saw 6000 vs 8000 tuned on my 13900KS + MSI Z790i Edge. The gains are real and substantial especially in WoW.

welp as with all things related to performance on hardware: every program / benchmark / games has different bottlenecks. there are tons of games that do not benefit from any RAM OC while others see a big boost in min fps or even avg 🙂 always depends how and what ure testing i wager.

The pump is doing strange sounds from time to time and you can hear water splashes inside the aio...also the mount system on AMD is really bad designed, but gamer nexus said about that. But no review said anything about QC ..probably they got special units...
huh cant say i have any complaints about my AC LFII 420. no pump noise, no water noises, performance as expected. whats the age and mounting orientation? also make sure its not one of those AIO batches affected by the faulty gaskets: https://www.arctic.de/en/lf-service-kit

I dont play that much anymore only some not demanding games like diablo 4 and battlefield 2042, games that i can run on the 3080 Asus Turdbook or get a 3070 or 3080 until 5090. But i dont want to not be able to get one on launch date or short after that..
https://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-rtx-5090-rtx-5080-blackwell-gpus-launch-q4-2024-rumor/
hmmm that is always a dangerous game to sell off the gpu before getting the successor / replacement... depends on whats more important to you: to make some profit on selling your 4090 before prices drop or to avoid any system downtime. i for one will go the second route, since i dont want to risk not being able to snatch up a 5090 at MSRP-ish prices or having to go the scalper route (or even worse: not being able to get one at all). the potential profit from the 4090 is not worth to potentially be sitting on a non-working highend system for months.

welcome back bud, nice to be remembered from those good old days!
i had the same decision to make when i jumped onto desktop back in Oct-2022 (damn its been that long already?!). it really depends how much fun u have modding it and how much headroom theres still left for modding. i had pretty much reached the end of the road for my Dark Knight, with a gpu upgrade being too expensive to be feasible, so i rather sold off the parts and invested into my new monster desktop (see sig).
in general tho, i salute all Clevo hold-outs, those were awesome machines and the last stand of true DTRs! 🙂
btw, @Meaker also found his way here 🙂

@jaybee83 I don't mean to be rude bro but wheres the updates lol. your system is in god like territory and no ones saying anything. games? what games are you playing find any good benchmarks?
hahaha trust me, Hyperion is in use every day i can spare an hour or two. but my limited freetime also means i rather spend that time actually using it and not providing updates here 😛
currently playing through the alan wake series after i completed Control (same game universe, actually). currently in the last third of Alan Wake`s American Nightmare before continuing with Alan Wake 2. Should be quite the challenge for my 4090 and definitely worth upgrading to a 5090 (already compiling the budget for upgrading to Zen 5 and a 5090 this year haha).
Ive also started Ratchet & Clank: Rift apart and waiting on Titan Quest 2, as well as the new Indiana Jones game, should be awesome!
Still havent come around to properly adjusting the stand-offs for my custom CPU IHS, but hoping to finally getting around to it in the coming days / 1-2 weeks. i definitely want it ready before Zen 5 drops 🙂
and yes, ure right, it is god tier. that was the whole idea 😎

I have a couple of these cheap $32.50 4TB NVMe out for delivery today. It will be interesting to see if they are good or garbage. They look like counterfeit Samsung NVMe but I don't care what brand, fake or not, as long as they work as intended. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806361905543.html
I have been rocking a high-end ASUS 4K 144Hz monitor for a good while now and while it produces gorgeous images and games look super nice on it, I am still having a very difficult time liking 4K for normal daily use. The scaling sucks with any setting other than 100% and the rendering of text leaves a lot to be desired. Applications like CPU-Z and GPU-Z with lots of text are especially ugly-looking. Productivity apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and web browsing look like pure crap at any scaling other than 100% and some things are just too small to be a pleasant reading experience at 100% scaling. IMHO, 2560x1440 is still the all-around best resolution for everything. Just set it to 100% scaling and everything is perfect-looking all the time. I always hated 4K laptop screens (and still do) because they are pretty miserable products to use, but even a 27-inch 4K screen a couple of feet away from my face is less pleasant to look at than 1440p.
lulz damn, at that price point 110% fake. please run some benches and let us know how theyre doing. also be sure to check the actual capacity, i.e. via this nifty lil tool: https://sosfakeflash.wordpress.com/2008/09/02/h2testw-14-gold-standard-in-detecting-usb-counterfeit-drives/comment-page-3/
it basically keeps on writing to any selected drive until its full, thus determining its actual physical capacity, no matter what the firmware / OS is saying.

u going with the paste of thermal pad? wasnt it that the paster performs worse than the pad? might be mistaken tho! in any case, keep us updated on your findings 🙂

I cannot remember now from my X570 Crosshair @Rage Set maybe you or @jaybee83 know, does ASUS have an Silicon Prediction (SP) rating system for the AMD motherboards?
yups they do. i *think* it was only introduced with AM5 though.

I hope that something happens to cause Qubic to become worthless so that all of the miners that buy one or more of them lose their digital heiny. In fact, I hope that happens to all forms of crypto. I would actually love to see all forms of crypto currency become worthless. People that live on the basis of getting something for nothing deserve to get exactly nothing. Miners that buy up stock deserve to go bankrupt and have to sell all of their no longer useful PC hardware at a loss. I'd also settle for the joy of seeing a power surge destroy all of the equipment they purchased... especially if the loss is uninsured.
agreed 100% on that. i keep trying to convince people not to "invest" into crypto. even with stocks and the highly people / investor mindset dependent fluctuations of the stock market, u at least have SOME actual reality backing them up, i.e. real companies, real products & services, actual value. same goes for FIAT currencies, u always have the actual economy of a country / bloc of countries backing them up.
what do we have for crypto? nothin except the "belief" that it "must be worth something". 🤪 anybody saying gaming or benching is a waste of electricity should focus on crypto first 😄

Why buy custom cables with (angled) 12V-2x6 connectors from Cablemod when you can get them from the PSU OEM? About time all the different OEM brands doing the same. This type cable is here to stay. You don't need any of the cheapo made custom cables from Cablemod. Buy a quality PSU from a reputable brand and you get quality cables on top as well.
Seasonic launches 12V-2×6 (H++) 600W power cables for NVIDIA RTX GPUs
Hmmm. Designed for a lifetime of 50 mating cycles, a normal standard for connectors. When become 50 mating cycles the normal standard for connectors?
For low/mid end.
yep already had my eye on those new seasonic cables, wanna get one in preparation for RTX 50 Series 🙂just havent figured out yet where to buy the cables. anyone have a pointer?
as for those "50 mating cycles", its probably equivalent to 8-pin pcie limit of "150W" or the M.2 slot rating of "60 cycles". might all be listed in some spec sheet or white paper but the reality would be much different 🙂

Besides @Talon (who we know will be getting one ASAP! 🙂 ), who else is picking up a 14900KS next week?
keeping tabs on fleabay for 14900Ks as a potential upgrade for my lady's machine, the number of offers has suddenly jumped, likely because of the upcoming KS 😄

and deeefinitely keeping tabs on this, next upgrade for Hyperion 😛 either that or an RTX 5090, whichever releases first 😄 although for the CPU i might wait a month or so for prices to go down considerably before upgrading. for the GPU doesnt matter, highend prices dont seem to fall anymore anyways after launch day, but the inventory DOES, so yeah...lulz

The 7900xtx is a great card. It is a beast at rasterization, and the price has come down a bit since launch. He really can't go wrong with purchasing it.
Trying to sell the extra 8000mhz kit I have here on FB, and the clowns I get are amazingly ignorant. "That kit is only $120 new", "there is no difference between 6000mhz, and 8000mhz", "you are stupid, you will never get $180 for it"....The level of stupidity is astounding!
wth...i have no words for such behaviour 😄 the only thing that makes sense is that theyre trying to haggle down the price or theyre just bitter they cant afford any faster ram... anyways, moving on!

I'll be sticking with my LF II 420 for now until a compelling reason presents itself to upgrade/change. The noise:performance is quite nice.
Have you done the delid and testing yet? (Maybe I missed it).
On the stock vBIOS and AIO I hit ~2820-2835 out of box and with a standard OC, I game and bench at 3120+. Memory does +1600 solid or +1700 for benching on my MSI Suprim Liquid X 4090.
word, especially with 6 years warranty on that thing lets enjoy it a bit before replacement. maybe the LF IV or V will be a worthy successor 😄
yeps, delid done, wasnt that big of a difference, just 2-4C lower temps. currently still tuning the installation of the ThermalGrizzly custom IHS, i need to shave down the plastic standoffs by like 2 mm or so for proper mounting pressure.
ur liquid suprim is doing a tad better in OC across both core and vRAM vs my air cooled model, should be combo of silicon lottery and better cooling 🙂

The King is back, this time with ARGB and White 😍 🤣. Also they are having a promotion on their website and also on Amazon Germany, like 30% off the new stuff. Insane prices for them, i would buy a 420 in white but it doesnt fit. 88 Euro for the 360 beast is like givin it free xd
https://www.arctic.de/produkte/cooling/cpu-kuehler/cpu-wasserkuehler/
@jaybee83 change your 420 with the III, you get rgb 😄
i already HAVE the 420 in A-RGB flavour 😉 but i swapped out the fans with black Noctua Industrial IPPC-3000 rpm fans in push/pull 🤣 that plus offset mounting, delidded with LM and custom TG IHS should negate any advantages the III has over the II haha.

good to see OLED finally catching up to VA panels like my Neo G8 at 4K and 240 Hz. I am still hesitant to switch to OLED though due to burn in. i use my monitor for both gaming and office work, and the latter is just not the scenario u want to use an OLED in, especially at 8+ hours a day.... so hanging back and keeping tabs on the OLED developments, while enjoying my Neo G8 🙂

Kryonaut didn't work on my laptop because of a bad contact. On a laptop it is a risk trying it out. If it works it can be great.
yeah laptops are better off with a more viscous paste due to higher variability in heatsink contact. kryonaut is rather thin and suffers from pumpout over longer periods of time. but freshly applied its pretty solid.
i wonder if kryonaut extreme / KPx is better in that regard? still have a huge tube of kryonaut OG, so not planning to get a new paste anytime soon 😄

The 4080 Super is mind blowing fast. Especially for how efficient it is. If you opt for 1080P with “High” settings this is a 300FPS GPU. If you run 4K with “High” settings it will provide 150+ FPS. Now, notice I said high settings. Some games have the Ultra or Extreme graphics settings which will reduce that substantially. It is extremely fast though. I really like it.
Another amazing MSI product!
The mouse pad was a big selling point even though it seems small or silly to most. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in Walmart and almost bought a new Gaming mouse pad. But I put it back on the shelf simply because I didn’t want to waste the $30 dollars on it. So MSI forced one on me.
As for the GPU, it’s easily the nicest air cooled GPU I have ever owned. It’s perfectly silent. No coil whine, no fan noise, and it barely warms up. This is what I wanted from the start. The cooler is overbuilt and very effective.
agreed on all points. and i regularly use the mouse pad, too 😄
