  1. No, I am sorry I don't have documentation for 980m. I also had a 980m go bad on me. I send sold is as parts to a user back in NBR (and still a member here) and never had a reply what was wrong! I wanted to know, to prevent from happening again. I now have two 980m in my shelf with the prema vbios. I bought the pny rtx3000 from ebay, and the seller send me the documentation for it to study. Hope you fix your 980m.
  2. Here are the files. You can dig into and find any info you need. I might need to re pad my GPU too. MXM_Specification_v31_r10.pdf EGX-MXM-RTX3000_50M-00021-1000_10.pdf
  3. I asked pny for the product manual. It shows the thermal zones of the gpu that need cooling. The area above the Ram is the power supply area. I made sure everything makes contact (with pads) with the heatsink. Do you monitor the thermals of the GPU hotspot? Mine during heavy gaming, reaches 90 degrees which is the limit the manufacturer states. What are your temps? The 80w draw is propably dictated by the manufacturer to keep the gpu from frying itself. So it reaches that and starts throttling. Keeping the gpu lower, runs at full speed all the time. I had two 980m with the prema no throttling bios. Being 100w gpu, mine draw almost 125watts during load.
  4. The ones you have marked, need to be cooled. I added thermal pad to all those exposed chips near the VRMs, just to be safe.
  5. I do have the same GPU on my M18x R2. It's performs excellent from day 1. You could try something. From the control panel, go to Manage GPU utilization. Select Dedicate Graphics Tasks. Reboot. Go to control panel once more and select Use for graphics and Compute needs. Reboot and check again for utilization. Though in your GPUz, Open CL and CUDA are unckecked. So it might be some driver conflict. I stopped modding the inf file and started using NVCleaninstall application.
  6. I know. I can set 4.2 and game on it, but it reaches 95 degrees easily and throttles to 3,7. It barely keeps 3,9 which is stock boost speed for this CPU!!!
  7. How do you mess with the voltage on a m18x r2? Mine barely hits thermal throttling with 3,9GHz.
  8. The HP model requires some modes but nothing too difficult. I got an extra heatsink to mod, so now I have a ready made for my M18xR2. I might install two rtx 3000 just for the fun of it!
  9. Sadly no. The sale for the RTX 5000 was only for a couple of days at 250 euros. I would go for that one, but right next to the core (left side) it had either mosfets or memory chips. Can't remember correctly, meaning it would need a different heatsink that the M18XR2 has. So I went for the RTX 3000 that was a direct fit.
  10. I had an 8930g with the 18' and the HD+ screen. I believe the process might be similar. I tracked down the service manual and found out the part number for the items I had to take. If my memory is correct, - I bought the 1920x1080 screen. - An power inverter with two power outputs The 1080p screen had two CCFLs. The 720p screen had one CCFL. Resulting a better brightness for the 1080p screen. Installing it was plug and play, since there was a 8930g with a 1080p screen, so the service manual was very helpful. Hope I helped you!
  11. Hello. I have found the following laptop near me via FB marketplace https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/9753413094732809/ Seller says its a M17x and pictures show a 4800MQ cpu and 770m GTX gpu with a 3D screen and Glasses included. Is this laptop Upgradable or is it BGA; Can I upgrade CPU and even throw an RTX 3000 in it and work with the screen in PEG mode?
  12. This happened literally the day PNY stopped selling their GPUs. It got me thinking selling my HP since it works fine and already got a modded heatsink for the M18x R2.
  13. Yes It might be. I don't have the exact translation. I assume the Greek translation is flawed.
  14. Maybe its a long shot. Try a complete power drain. Put the old battery back. Also the main battery. Connect charger. Power on system. Shut down from OS. Remove main battery. Press power for 30sec. Remove Cmos battery. Press again for 30sec. Place new Cmos battery. Place main battery. Connect charger. Power on and enter bios. Set proper values and power down to check again if settings remain there. If you have any beep, press incert key when you press power button (used work on some old bios). Hope this help you.
  15. You forget to name your GPU when you selected "add hardware support" when running NVclean. Do the whole process again. Rebuilt the driver package again adding name to your GPU
  16. I contacted them in English. They also responded in English. I try to find someone I know in France, but he didn't want to help me. So I used shippn. Cost was the same as the GPU itself, but it arrived in two days. I don't get it why they excluded even other EU countries from their listing. I believe they run out of inventory.
  17. RTX 5000 was going for 250 euros from PNY. They put the listing hours after I bought my 3000. I wish I have bought that instead!
  18. I aloso got a PNY RTX3000 thinking that my HP RTX 3000 failed for my M18xR2. Yes it was a direct fit, no mods, and the heatsink from my AMD 100Watt Gpu keeps the temperatures quite low.
  19. I watched the ad when it said '4 items sold'. Almost 10 days later, it wrote '27 items sold' so literally in 4 hours I made a purchase. I might not have bought it, if I didn't had problems at first place.
  20. Yep. I see the same PNY gpu that was on ebay for 100 euros shipped, going for 350 in China. Also PNY sold RTX 5000 MXM for 250 euros, and those going for 800 euros on ebay. I mean my HP RTX 3000 is worth 350 also. I belive each seller sees the ongoing prices, and list the item with the same price for an excess profit.
  21. It works like a charm. And being an mxm module, intstalling was hassle free. They no logner have the sale. I am looking that some Chinese sellers, sell the same GPUs 3 times more the price!
  22. I used a service called shippn and shipped it to Greece. They don't ship it inside EU either
  23. Ebay. They have an ad, but only ship to france. Also they sell RTX 5000
