*Official Benchmark Thread* - Post it here or it didn't happen :D

Stock heatsink, my room is small so if im running my equipment the window AC unit is running, especially with heat ramping up here in Texas. I tend to essentially disable all electronics while im working and keep things minimal until 8PM when electricity is "Free". Then its more or less off to the races. The Red Devil heatsink is definitely a chonky heatsink, but I dont know that it would cool 550w adequately. From Left to Right is probably this order. General Tune > Specific Tune > Aquas Extreme Tune -

Took some doing to get the vBIOS to cooperate with the 7900 XTX. Flashed via CH341A programmer with NeoProgrammer software. Originally tried the Nitro+ vBIOS, while it worked immediately it only lifted the TDP to 460w versus the 430w I was already working with. Then on to the AQUAS vbios which was said to have a 550w TDP limit. flashed it, but lost video on all DP/HDMI ports. Switched to the backup bios, rebooted and installed some remoting tools as my keyboard was behaving as if its in OS. Confirmed my suspicion but resolution was 640x480 at best. Reinstalled drivers but didnt seem to change the video out problem. Went for the AQUAS vBIOS from Asrock (extreme version) which did detect "Correctly" that I had the right "card" however, refused to install while an AMD driver was installed. Once I resolved that stipulation, Windows flashed the extreme vbios and my DP/HDMI ports came back to life. Red Devil scores on chilled air cooling. To get higher I would definitely need the EVC2SE module, water cooling and chilled water. Was not able to beat @Hiew's 9070XT score of 7911 yet, maybe a fresh install of Windows, this instance has been in service for a year or so now. I also replaced the screws on the retention bracket, and the other GPU screws as well as the previous owner was quite rough with this card before I got it. I still have yet to apply PTM7950, now that I have more or less unlocked what I can do on air its time to get that applied. I mostly wanted to also maintain above 3Ghz, for no other reason than 3Ghz is better than 2.8Ghz :) -

So @Hiew got his hands on a 9070 XT close to MSRP a little while back. Finally got around to tuning it and sends me this. Also pulled 7985 a bit later. -

I was confused at the first mention of it, befuddled at the second, and doing a second take at the third. I'd like a refund now, thanks lol -

IIRC there are options for that in the settings. -

Considering how 95% of the titles came from consoles its not a surprise that it plays better on a controller. I havent played it a whole lot personally yet, I put it on ice for a year or two and enjoy it at that time. -
Even then I believe those were only for desktops no?

This one should be for GTX 9800 but it looks like it should also fit the GTX+ variants after reading some of the old newegg reviews, definitely the older variants seem to be higher success rates. Probably going to have to find something local as I dont really fancy 30-40+ USD on ebay for cards of this age -

Found some now ancient but still NIB arctic accelero extreme 9800 coolers on performance pc's so naturally since they were 15 USD each I bought 2. Any of you whose been around the block for some time, any recommendation for which GTX 9800 to seek out for benchmarking? -

Well to be fair I was using this board fkr a different purpose originally and even now still serves well under unraid. That being said it why I haven't considered it for use with gpu benching. At least the z390-a and aorus master are wired for 16x or 8x/8x. Just curious if it's worth the hassle versus the z97 krait Ali board considering it's age. At least it's 8x/8x just quite a bit older now. I'll probably give it a shot and see what the results look like -

The board I have only does x8/x4 for CFX/SLI which is why I am not considering it for gpu benchmarking. -

Hey guys so a bit of a privileged problem hoping you guys can give me some insight. I have an old SLI board with a system that is basically already running iirc z97 Krait SLI. Sits in the garage now. So heres the hypothetical. I still have my 9700F, 4x8GB 2666Mhz SO-DIMMS, some storage from my P750DM-G that has a bad GPU (MXM 1080). I was thinking to swap from parts around. Make the 9700F the new basis for a benching rig, if so then I would move the sodimms to the 10850K (using an adapter) on unraid to give it 32GB and move the 16GB 4400Mhz RAM to the 9700F. I would likely be looking at the Asus Z390-A or the Aorus Master since both can use x8/x8 for CFX/SLI. Or should I just not waste any time and effort, revive the old z97 system for purely GPU benchmarks? Not sure if the 4790K can effectively push GTX 690 Quad-SLI. Thanks in advance fellas -

Its unfortunate that now the king of the hill sets the prices for the entire product stack. Since both are publicly traded, they are legally obligated to seek profits for their respective organizations so even if AMD were to somehow produce 80-90% of the performance for 50% (or less) of the cost they would be obligated to price it accordingly or open themselves to lawsuits from their own investors. The only counter argument they could make is a desperate need to gain market share, but they could likely only make that argument for 1 release before investors get itchy for the next fiscal quarter I buy both vendors to suit the needs or desires I have at the time, but I still have my leanings. That being said I remembered this 10-20 second portion of a farewell video which leads to the real problem. Gamers buy nvidia regardless and AMD cant seem to market their products appropriately. -

I remember when people use to say that accelero's were too big lol 3090Ti from Brother Fox arrived today. It completely dwarfs the arctic cooler, not complaining. I have a bit of a soft spot for these kinds of heatsinks -

About Windows LTSC (Windows 10/11 Enterprise LTSC)
Reciever replied to Aaron44126's topic in Windows
There are merits and demerits to both. Sadly the demerits are more notable when the merit is a smooth running operation. I dont use Apple personally as their ecosystem doesnt suit my needs, if my interests were different then of course that wouldnt be the case. As much as I do enjoy the ease of access (and more importantly, familiarity) of Windows, I cant trust it to do what it is expected unattended, which is why I use Unraid for things that need to "just run" without persistent user intervention. Its just an unfortunate circumstance that benchmarking was made in large part to be relative to what you can expect in gaming. Gaming being largely on Windows, despite being a highly individual "sport" on an OS that doesnt really care to suit the needs of the individual. As such we get to spend a lot of time resisting broad stroke solutions. Pick your poison, as it were lol- 172 replies
