When my colleague has some down time he will look into the forums performance, appears to be a huge uptick in traffic but before we figure out countermeasures we want to know where its coming from. Its probably the first real vacation he's had in 10+ years so I dont want to claw him back unless its something more severe.

That is not true iirc Ran 32GB in an m6800 with the 4980hq a couple of years ago. 4980hq shines only where L4 cache is utilized. Long since sold the system though so I can't get validation.

However there is no mention of benchmarking what so ever, instead pointing to IoT devices. We play it pretty loose here but thats reaching.

Its due to those horror stories that I dont personally use Biometrics on my cellular. With enough time and effort anything or anyone can be compromised of course, but it just doesnt sit well with me.

How the desk is more or less set up, some cable clean up has been done since then. CPU fans are also pointed inward so as to push air through the NVME heatsink and by extension the 3090 backplate. NVME tends to only sit at 32c and my junction temp (3090) tends to peak around 84-86c.

Yeah saw that, not a huge fan of FSR / DLSS as it seems to become more and more needed to run higher frame rates on some newer titles. That being said I suppose it could be possible, though Im on ITX, I have extended its potential past what most are willing to tolerate with such a scenario. Older GPU may be similar, that was the main issue @Khenglish ran into with installing desktop GPU vRAM modules to MXM board on the same mod you are referring to IIRC. Love seeing these kinds of mods though!

Half my interest in the 7900 XTX is to play with game streaming on the RTX 3090 @ 4K or other random things that look interesting to do

I've been curious about having this done to my older cards liek the 5970, 690, gtx 295 and such but I dont have a hot air station nor have any skill in such things lol I can solder more or less but no experience with hot air yet

I still have my Red Devil 5700 XT, pushed it to match 1080Ti, at least in some synthetics. Keep it as a just a case card as its not really worth the hassle of selling. The System Administrator at work refuses to believe me when I say Asus makes a decent product but their QA is hot garbage. Nonplot twist, he's got quite a few Asus parts for his main rig.

And my main point, is that they both engage in such behavior when it suits them. GT 730 rebranded from a RT 430 in designation where both Fermi and Kepler share the same product names? :( Cant even say this is a bug fix.

Lets not pretend that both vendors dont participate in rehashing, rebranding etc etc of their product lineups. 2028 according to that article yikes, looks like thye are going to release something akin to what the 5700xt was. I can grab a 7900 XTX and sit pretty for some time then.

I cant remember who it was that said this but effectively the idea put forth was that this generations ability to argue without putting the person you are arguing with in the "hate/enemy" category has effectively atrophied. The appears to be more true over time, at least as I continue to observe. Me and you have different viewpoints regarding our use of PC's, just like you may have some differences between yourself and @Papusan in terms of how your approach overclocking, and thats fine. It doesnt need to then become the basis for classifying someone as extreme or beyond recognition. Sometimes a difference is just that, different. It doesnt then automatically mean not worth consideration. I mean, probably here in the next few days ill be posting an update to my desktop scenario to which many at OCN would immediately question why I didnt do X,Y,Z instead of chuckling at making what I have work for me. I have already dubbed it "Doing It Wrong" by my friends if it works out. Yeah its the same "you're the niche so stop talking" kind of stuff I used to see all the time there. I may prefer my 5800X3D for my use case, but my use case doesnt involve looking for the best CPU benchmarks since I primarily just play games and remote to my VM sandbox's that run my homelab's (48 cores / 96 threads 256GB RAM). Doesnt mean I need to find the best motherboard or cooling since its not overclocking (just tuning for best performance it can run 24/7 ) nor would I tout it as such. The problem I used to see there (and to be fair, not only) is that on one hand they would say overclocking is a niche hobby that virtually nobody does but also in the other hand say overclock to get best FPS in your games. While not mutually exclusive, you probably shouldnt engage in the latter without first picking the appropriate hardware / cooling. Which means you should probably engage the supposed niche nobody does sector of the market. Lastly, I always appreciate your colorful use of language to convey your position regarding products, it makes my life much easier from a moderation standpoint. As I am sure there are a number of vernacular that may be preferred in such cases lol. They also have the "Professionalism Initiative" for the forum, but its selectively enforced. I can go on, but I'd be ranting for days since I surfed there for probably a good 10 years.

I enjoyed my time there, but over time things just became less authentic. When they would openly clown on people using performance laptops it became more difficult to participate in that community.

Looks like the market protested Sony's actions and was able to get them to overturn the mandate.

If I didnt have my AM4 platform thats probably the route I would be looking at as well.

Looks like the game is being review bombed due to Sony's forcing on PSN accounts being linked to Steam
