Welcome to the Forums!

There will be changes that also occur over time as well. Its not as if the current layout is set in stone never to change. There are a few things I am aiming to achieve though now we have a testbed thanks to Hiew's efforts. Not if some of them are possible but we'll how it goes. The forum wont be going anywhere :) Im looking forward to what we can do with this forum and the community that I cherish

I have seen this instance (not aware of the previously mentioned thread off the top of my head) and have thinking on it for a little while. While there was certainly quite a bit of excitement surrounding the LGA + MXM aspects of mobile tech, its EOL use cases arent the reason we created this forum. We created the forum because I wanted to stay in touch with as many members of NBR who were active as well as try to maintain the culture that the forum had. There will be some changes that will be required of its members to acknowledge which will irritate some Im sure but it will diversify the content which will allow the forum to show up on more searches. While members like @Mr. Fox and @Papusan are very vocal about their positions you also have quite a bit more members like @jaybee83 and @electrosoft who are much more mild in their approaches. Both are perfectly viable and welcome! There isnt an inherit limitation on the forum to only have dialogue surrounding laptops. If there is any topics that you may want to bring to the table but unsure if its permissible there isnt any reason to not reach out to me. At the moment we are working on some things in the backend so we can test some of things we have been pondering about for a while, Im hoping that this will bear fruit for those interested in the near future.

Doesnt even have QMK, which is largely seen as one of the larger developments for keyboard products. -
Unresponsive Forum -7/16 Update

It appears the number of optimizations, filters and bans issued have in large part resolved the issue of unresponsive forum and/or lackluster performance. Thanks everyone for your patience and happy posting! Chris -
Unresponsive Forum -7/16 Update
Reciever replied to Reciever's topic in Internal News / Announcements
Good Evening Everyone! We have made progress in regaining much of the responsiveness in the forum. At this time there is still the semi-regular hitch where the forum becomes unresponsive however it does not appear to be every action much like what we were seeing from earlier today. It is also recovering much quicker as well, though more actions are being made in regards to that as well. Thank You everyone for your patience while we sort this out. Chris -
great to find a website like this

Welcome to the Forums! Happy to have ya -
Good Afternoon NBT! There appears to be an issue with our backend which is causing abnormally high loading times and generally making the forum unresponsive. We are aware of this issue and are attempting to diagnose. For now the behavior is a bit unpredictable where you may have snappy responsiveness for a few tabs then goes back to nearly unresponsive. I will report back when I have more information to share, apologies and appreciate your patience. Chris

You can edit that content into your post. -
Virtual Sandbox to do anything and everything you want with it. IT Training typically, can use it for Plex/JellyFin, remote game streaming, self-host all the things. Imagination and to some degree, budget, are the only limitations.

Very true, I did sooth my heart at some point with an LG C2 (open box) so Im not losing any sleep. I just dont like sending things to a landfill if it cant be helped :)

Sorry was also tied up with work. Nah I didn't find the part that I suspected was the issue for a reasonable price. I believe it was binned by my family when they re-organized the garage. Was a little bummed but they needed the space for something else. After not finding the part I was thinking of just getting a controller board in a similar manner like people do when salvaging a laptop panel but again the family binned it :(

It was a feature that I didnt even have to request, as Hiew is of the same thought process. We did toy with a couple of other themes and just kind of stuck with the 2-3 up til now. In other news, I have put in my notice with work. Lets just say things spiraled into an untenable scenario that was wildly outside of what could be justified under the current wage. While I will be acquiring a skill or two in the interim to update my resume between employment, I will have the time needed to work on a few things here that have long been on my mind. -

If you are using the default theme the white hand in the bottom right hand of a post is basically not viewable. Its a goof of the forum software in my honest opinion. -
That transition occurred around the time of Haswell, hq (soldered) had replaced mq (socketed) respectively for the CPU SKU

Yes it's been observed on my end as well as the backend. It's going to take some time before we can commit a full dive work/home has been hectic due to power issues up here in dfw. Definitely the weekend is what we're targeting. -
Cheaper and encourages replacing the laptop altogether instead of improving what you have.

Perfect, there was a recent update to the forum software to address some issues but we're still monitoring it all the same. -
This would be most welcome news !

There are still some things that need looking into but its more of a "see where the trend starts" type of metric. Otherwise some updates and maintenance was done to the forum and things should be back to snuff. -
Precision M6800 questions and upgrades
Reciever replied to Jers6410's topic in Pro Max & Precision Mobile Workstation
I mostly only tested to see if it work. It appears that this CPU only tends to work in systems with QM87 chipsets. Didnt work in any system that I had with HM87, so t440p, E5540, m4800 and m6800 were all good. The one thing that I didnt like though, is when taking the CPU out it basically damaged a couple of the pins. Havent used it for any testing since then. I dont recall having any temperature problems though. I might have documented it in my old thread that might be here or in the NBRchive -

While I would welcome that notion, sadly the internet is a giant mass of spam, bots and disagreeable people. Still, carving our small slice of the pie has been an interesting venture :)
