I was buing this card in year 2023 on ebay from PNY seller i think. It was new and price was really really good i cant remember how much exactly i think about 350 eur , but shipping was almost the same because the seller was not shipp to my country . It was horor because i want this card ,but shipping options was not .

And this is result after years.

If you purchased 2, you could have put one in M18xR1 as well lol

  2. I think nVidia's 5000 series would have been much better if they were on 3nm, but being on the same exact node, it's quite hard to get more performance without skyrocketing power.

If nVidia had released the 4090Ti or Titan (full ad102 die) then the 5090 would have probably been only 15-20% faster, making it look even worse.

I'd still like a 5090 for it's multiple decode/encode engines or at least a 5080. That's actually one of the bigger upgrades for content creation or even something like a Plex server. Before they were limited to Quadro to have 3 video engines.

coupled with the insane price increase we can already see enthusiasts jumping ship. i guess were finally hitting an upper limit of what highend gamers are willing to pay for halo gpus 😄

    Titan V from 2017 says hi 😁

While it wasn't a "gaming" card.

Many "high end gamers" also bought it. I actually have one, but I didn't buy it until 2020 I think. 3070 level performance in raster, it wasn't a bad investment at the time.

can't say same thing about 5090 lol

Okay, I understood about this. I have ADLINK RTX5000 with 110W +5% boost peak in games about 130w and drivers installed via NVCleanstall . If do you need vbios from this gpu i can send to you no problem, but i think is completely different iron then you have.

Wow the rare RTX 5000 from Adlink. I can try out the vBIOS and see if it works

Okay, got it . Give me two days for test.

I also have an idea on above 4g decoding option after to test as well. But first let's see that BIOS if it works.

BTW do you have RTX 3000 130w or 120w vBIOS? I'm using stock HP vBIOS which is 90W I think. I tried a few from techpowerup but they all caused weird issues.

If you have working vBIOS on M18xR2 above 100w I would like to try it out too

X-vsion said it was a 150W version. BIOS states 115W. They told me it's normal and software reports badly uh.

I would like someone to test the RTX 3080 MXM on an Alienware too.

I use the "GTX 1070 heatsink from eBay" + PTM9750. I modded the heatsink so bad because it won't fit + LCD cable won't clips.

    Max temps are 83-84C

Got 9400 for GPU score after.

upload your vBIOS here. Let's see.

150w vBIOS should get 11k+ score, so even with a older system like M18x, I'd expect 10k.

I'll check later how much RTX 5000 gets. 9.4k still isn't too bad. Try firestrike and port royal as well.

Hi all, at this stage it makes sense to go ahead and try for a small miracle. I have a programmer and one spare  M18XR2 motherboard  just for testing . I can test and test. Here's my dump. Thank you.

    M18XR2 A11 unlocked.rar 3.07 MB · 2 downloads

Good luck. First step will be to flash and see if it boots LOL.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nK4y6axXIB-VZp-b7p7mIIkG_v1-RgBA/view?usp=sharing

if it boots, chances are it worked. BUT..after flashing, go to BIOS, make sure legacy rom is completely disabled (no csm mode).

Boot to windows and download ReBarstate: https://github.com/xCuri0/ReBarUEFI/releases/download/0.3/ReBarState.exe

Type 8 and press enter. Reboot and relaunch rebarstate to see what it says, also check GPU-Z.

Since you have rtx 5000 series it should at least recognize if rebar is on in bios or not.

If everything boots after typing 8 in rebarstate and rebooting, it technically should be working with 256MB bar size. After that we can try 32 value. The problem is, this bios does have not above 4g decoding option, so we are trying to make it work without it.

You can always reset to normal by resetting cmos.

I do have one other thing we can try to enable above 4g but first let's test this bios.

ALSO NOTE TO ANYONE ELSE: This BIOS was made ysing @janepa BIOS dump. Please do not flash to your own M18x. I can make one for the general once we can figure out if this even works.

If I send you my M18X R2 BIOS dump, would you add it too? And in which source are you basing off to add rebar?

As long as you have a programmer yes

I think mine was running at 115W and not 150W. Weird. Your 2080 ran at 165W ?

Area-51m R1 2080 runs at 200w naturally from the factory. It's DGFF not MXM 😉

THIS is why your card probably is performing like that. 3080 at 115w ain't keeping up with a 200w 2080. You need a 150w vBIOS probably or even 130w would help.

What was max temps and what are you cooling it with?

You also want to OC your CPU. if it's an XM then at least 4.4Ghz.

    If it's 3840QM > 4.1Ghz

    3820QM > 4.0Ghz

3740QM > 3.8 or 3.9Ghz (forgot how high it can go)

    etc.

Hello. I got the RTX 3080M. Tested it.

I got a score of 9300 scores on TimeSpy. What are your scores with the RTX 3080 MXM?

I can't even close the laptop nor tighten 4/4 of the screws, very annoying...

    IMG_20250121_170542_817.jpg

try fire strike as well. Score seems low? But I am more familiar with fire strike scores. I haven't benched my 3080 yet because I need a custom heatsink

After looking at my Area-51 R1 TS result, I guess it's not too bad.

No, that's not it - the device is just not visible in Device Manager.

It would be nice if they could add support for 4g decoding.
Well, in any case, I tried flashing other bios from 4060m - and the first one seems to have checked for this feature. my test computer (and I tested it initially on a PC through an adapter) did not want to boot and judging by the postcodes hung on pcie device detection.

here is a screenshot of the current bios

    photo_5213395509530716913_y.jpg

Is this GPU-Z screenshot in M17xR4 or desktop?

If you want to send me your current unlocked BIOS, I can try adding at least resizable bar support and you can test to see if it works. But you need to make sure you have a programmer and can backup your current bios in case flash doesn't work.

If it works, I plan to make M17xR4, M18xR2, AW 18 and AW 17 rebar BIOS

  11. 1 hour ago, panda_zzz said:

I'm sure it will work. the native bios does not require 4g decoding. the main problem is with heatsink, but it can be solved.

I think vBIOS with 4g decoding is only reason some Ada GPUs and even A4500 Amphere didn't work in M18xR2.

It would be quite difficult to implement, but we could at least add ReBar support and see if it helps.

  12. Okay it was LVDS.

I tried the RTX 3000 but Optimus no longer shows up in BIOS. Also it gets stuck at a black screen after the invalid system configuration error.

I don't think these RTX 3000 from Adlink are as friendly with vBIOS but I guess I could try flashing a different vBIOS?

Does this mean it won't work in M6800 either since the Optimus option disappears in BIOS in M6600 with RTX 3000?

I know on our Alienwares we can force Optimus mode regardless of GPU installed with unlocked BIOS.

EDIT: Flashed Dell RTX 3000 vBIOS. Optimus now shows up. Installed windows but after installing nVidia drivers I keep getting system service exception bsod loop. Can boot fine into safe mode.

Looking at your service tag, the stock screen has this part number : 93F76. Then, on parts people it points to this lcd : N173HGE-L11

And finally panelook confirms it's an lvds one, 40 pins, so you'll need to use optimus to get a modern card working

    Screenshot_20250104-002154.thumb.png.5fa579b7eec3bf816dc868c18445eab2.png

Interesting, when I checked the PN on Parts People I ended up on the E11 version which is eDP. If it's LVDS then I should be able to use RTX 3000 then using Optimus. Once it's up and running I will attempt this.

    4 hours ago, nforce4max said:

The first gen RTX series works with EDP and had zero issues with my M6800 aside from needing to mod the heatsink so there is a chance it could work with your M6600. This card doesn't dump too much heat so it should be fine once everything is installed right.

Interesting, I couldn't get my RTX 3000 to work on eDP but I have Adlink you have an HP one I am assuming.

the RTX 3000 should work as the P4000 on the M6600 (it will only work on the external Monitor) as the internal is always attached to the Intel 3000.If you turn off Optimus the Laptop will not boot at all and the only way to turn Optimus back on is to put an older NVIDIA GPU (Kepler) to turn it back on. The P4000  will work fine on My M6800 with LDVS using Optimus.

Where did get you get that RTX 3000? The ones I had seen on Ebay will not fit as the screws are in the different position as the M6800 Heatsyncs (both AMD and NVIDIA).

PS> I tried the Registry entries that you recommended to no avail on the M6600. I ended using the P4000 on my M6800 and put the P3000 that I was using on the M6800 on the M6600 with exactly the same results.

Forgot to mention another thing to try....using a driver older than 425.XX such as 419.XX

This worked for me on M18xR1 using RTX 5000 with Intel HD 3000
