  1. Flash the 980M vBIOS from alienware 18 driver site
  2. Interesting, I also had that BSOD in M6600. Perhaps I should have looked deeper to see someone else experienced it. For me it was with RTX 3000. I always go the bsod. Currently I am running P4000 in M6600 and it works 99% of the time. 1% of the time, the whole PC freezes. I am confident it is due to the P4000 for some reason.
  3. That's Pascal and as far as I know, they're not signing them. Mac OS and Windows are different. From my understanding, no one can sign vbios anymore on 2000+ series. vBIOS is encrypted for the most parts. Small things like clocks can be changed still
  4. All vbios now go through nvidia ever since rtx 2000 series and must be signed by them. Only they have the tools needed to modify vbios.
  5. I think you underestimate how much help I tried to get regarding it. They couldn't give me any modified vbios. vBIOS is made only from nvidia. nVidia has to modify it. The only reason we have rtx 4090/3080 mxm vbios honestly is probably because it's a leaked vbios for development
  6. Not DOA, flashing vbios from soldered a4500 gpus made pc boot but always got code 43 because of vbios mismatch
  7. RTX 3000 and RTX 5000 (Turing) works fine and does not "force" above 4g decod check like the newer cards. RTX 4080/4090 also do not force the check. The professional cards starting with A4500 (amphere) have this check. I checked in multiple laptops even eDP and they all have no post. Who knows maybe blackwell doesn't have test. I took the risk back then to buy $2,500 card so this time I will sit back and wait
  8. If this card is like the A4500 I tested long time ago it will not work. It requires above 4g decoding in bios and resizable bar. We need ZRT/XVSION to release rtx 5090 version which does not require these.
  9. Okay so I can bridge the two points on resistor as well? Do you know where it may be located on AW 18 R1 (M18xR3)? That system has the issue with throttle. For M18xR2 it has been good. M18xR1 only has throttle when doing dual PEG method.
  10. If I understand correctly, solder a wire from pin 27 to bottom part of resistor? This works for both mxm slots or only slot 1?
  11. I saw you joined the AW club which has unlocked bios. Try flashing A11 stock first, then flash A11 unlocked. There's readme file. For A15 same thing, first flash a15 stock then a15 unlocked.
  12. M18xR1 can only use cards newer than 8XXM series in slot 2 while using a older card in slot 1 to allow it to boot. This is a BIOS issue that we have not solved yet. I'm running Quadro M2000M in primary slot with OG heatsink and in slot 2 I have a RTX 5000 in slot 2 with a custom heatsink
  13. Do you have location on motherboard picture for m18x r1?
  14. I'm restoring a AW17 R1, I will see after unlocking bios if those settings work on it
  15. Is the resistor on the motherboard or MXM card?
  16. HP RTX 5000 throttle in my AW18. I even did resistor mod still throttle
  17. I wonder if adlink rtx 3000 can also work with this or that card doesn't work with edp at all
  18. The TDP issue affects Alienware 18 (M18xR3) and Alienware 17 R1 (M17xR5). I have not been able to solve it , so if you have any ideas I can try. Also when running dual PEG (example, M2000M Primary + RTX 5000 secondary in M18xR1), there's is TDP reduction. If the card is 80W TDP it only run 60W TDP (lose 20-25W for some reason).
  19. It won't work. Need a BIOS mod to make UEFI either completely gone or fix the issue. M17xR3 doesn't have UEFI, it has some sort of UEFI wrapper which causes issues with any GPU newer than 800M to not post. WX7100 works because AMD's UEFI vBIOS is different.
  20. If this was our attitude toward all these older laptops, we would have not gotten anywhere in the first place. back in 2012-2013 era, everyone gave up on M17xR3 and M18xR1 saying they will never reach beyond 800M series. Here I am in 2025 with W7100 in M17xR3 (eDP) and RTX 5000 in M18xR1 (Dual PEG). Never give up 😁
  21. now this is interesting. Wonder if it'll help me run some cards on M17xR3 lol
  22. Someone posted A14+ for AW18 on the NBR forums but I don't seem to have it saved. I wonder if @Reciever may have a copy? But he also had the Ranger 17 R1 not the 18 so maybe not.
  23. Weird I matched all settings but still no dGPU showing up in IGFX mode maybe it’s because I’m on a12. I know there was a A14+ made on NBR forums but I never saved it
  24. I think we need to see more settings from your bios such as the pcie settings as well. Might be useful to post a bunch of pics from your bios (relevant ones of course). AW17 R1/AW18 use the same platform so they should behave almost identically with LVDS display
