    so my 1 1/2 year old son figured out how to open the magnetic side panel on my corsair 9000d. next he decided to pull out one of the hard tubing causing coolant to spill everywhere. nothing was damaged thankfully, but I did learn my pump only runs like 50% most of the time even with cpu on full load, causing high temps. I fixed that and well this is what happens next lol. 4.5Ghz on all cores W7-3465X. Yeah I probably should have kept my 2 RTX 3090s instead of selling them. Turns out they would have lasted awhile longer , but my RTX Titans are fun too. Still need to do the shunt mod. i forgot if it was @electrosoft who sent me a picture of the mod. I saw you were rocking an AMD system. It's unfortunate Intel didn't release the W790 platform with a sibling for a true HEDT successor for us "normal" people. I bought the motherboard for $949 on "sale" at the time. I was lucky to find someone selling a QS CPU for less than half of the $2899 MSRP for the CPU. 128GB RDIMMs before the rampocolypse for ~$700. Overall it came out a bit more than a i9-7980XE platform did back then but this platform screams Mr. Fox especially with the X unlocked CPUs. Nothing like overclocking +1.3Ghz on water pulling over 500w of power. 😂

    Ironically I bought a RTX 5080 in early 2025 before all the AI hype but returned it because it felt weird going from 24GB RTX Titan SLI to RTX 5080. I was hoping to find a 5090 but at this rate I might as well wait for the 6090 😄

    I already tried multiple MXM cards years ago in my X170SM, I didn't just make up the story that it's not wired in the mxm port. Don't rely on X-VSION to do anything. Have you purchased their latest laptops? If so how are they?

    Hiya fellas. Good to see everyone around here. Thought I'd drop this here as I had a little time to play with my desktop. BTW am I the only one who doesn't like the new Cinebench 2026? I feel like R23 was better. I like seeing all the threads populate the image. W7-3465X 3.2Ghz all core stock > 4.3Ghz all core (28-cores). Single thread should be around 5-5.2ghz somewhere (I didn't check to see if it was actually sticking). I have a VM open and some other stuff but doubt it'd drastically change the score. Also got a Z890+270K Plus to play with next week. Still no 5000 series gpu though lol

    I told you this before you even wanted to buy a x170 clevo. The pins on the mxm port are not wired for power. You need to use a gpu that uses clevo's power connector. if you want to use a standard mxm card on the x170 you need to solder all the power pins from the clevo power connector area.

    I looked into this and it seems it might not be possible due to how they keys are embeded in the system. I haven't gotten too deep into it as I have too many projects right now Unfortunately i don't have a m17xr4. I literally have all the others.

    It'll probably work in SG mode no issue on any of the Alienwares...well that's all I can say for now 😃 I hope to get one in the future to play with but it's way too much $$$ right now.

    the RGB panel is worth it and that screen alone is a reason to own these M17x/R2 systems. I have RGB panel in my m17x & M17xR2.

    It works fine as a bootable usb to unlock 1.5.0 temporarily. need to boot from usb everytime to access unlocked bios. need more bios version dumps to expand the compatibility

    Depends. on 1080p panel you will get inverted colors. On lower res panel it'll work. unless you do dual PEG trick.

    If no one cares about anything older than 1.5.0 we don't need to do it. I am fine with 1.50+ whatever newer versions you guys use

    Is this on Area-51m? The main issue is, I don't know how to bypass boot guard. It requires signed bios to boot , even if you spi flash it doesn't boot.

    I already did 1.5.0 because it's what I have. In my opinion 1.5.0 is the best "old bios" that maintains most compatibility. we probably want the newer bios' that you guys run.

    I can access the hidden menus. My goal is to make a universal bootable USB for Area-51m R1/R2. It will first detect the system, then detect bios version, detect variables and show the bios with all meus unlocked. so when you change something, it will properly affect your bios version. i already tested a bit on 1.5.0 but need a few more versions to make 1.5.0 perfect.

    You might need to somehow mod vbios too. If you can do it then you can also try removing the 2080 core and transplanting rtx 3080 core. They might use same bga package

    I have an idea to make a "unlocked bios". It's in parenthesis because unless someone knows how to get around boot guard, it will be non permanent. What I need from you guys: IFR Dump of BIOS 1.3.2 and any other bios version you guys use. (I already did 1.5.0) SPI dump would be even more useful.     Dual PEG reg edit Win + R Regedit Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} There should be a couple of folders such as 0000, 0001, etc. Check each folder which GPU it corresponds to Create a new DWORD key inside the folder for your high performance GPU , name it EnableMsHybrid and set value to 1. Ex: EnableMsHybrid=1 Create a new DWORD key inside the folder for your power saving GPU , name it EnableMsHybrid and value is 2. Ex: EnableMsHybrid=2 Reboot. Next Regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\DirectX\UserGpuPreferences create a new string value which name is “DirectXUserGlobalSettings”, and set its value to “HighPerfAdapter=xxx” where XXX stands for hardware ID’s VEN&DEV&SUBSYS of your graphics card, which can be found in device manager. In the case of my 7800 XT "HighPerfAdapter=1002&747E&78011EAE" while device manager displays "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_747E&SUBSYS_78011EAE&REV_C8" Reboot Now right click desktop and choose display settings. Then graphics settings. Add your app and choose high performance GPU for it Tesla specific addition: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4d36e968-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}, find where your tesla card is, change “AdapterType” value to “1” and “FeatureScore” value from “cf” to “d1”, create a new dword key which name is “GridLicensedFeatures”, and set its value to “7”. Disable then enable tesla in the device manager. This step changs the gefore driver into grid driver，and the tesla is in wddm mode now.

    "best" is subjective for all these old laptops. X170 isn't even wired for MXM GPUs that don't use Clevo's power connector. P870 series is better than P775 series, I've owned and sold a few. But again that's my opinion. IMO "best" goes to the AW 2011-2013 lineup for MXM. [my personal opinion of course] It's unfortunate the xvsion laptops are not as impressive as we wished. So what's the best MXM gpu they ship them with , 5090?

    depends. for SG mode yes you need unlocked bios which is available here on the forums for Dual PEG mode (supported GPU slot 1, rtx gpu slot 2) you don't. the unlocked bios is easy to install by using sleep bug.
