  1. If this was our attitude toward all these older laptops, we would have not gotten anywhere in the first place. back in 2012-2013 era, everyone gave up on M17xR3 and M18xR1 saying they will never reach beyond 800M series. Here I am in 2025 with W7100 in M17xR3 (eDP) and RTX 5000 in M18xR1 (Dual PEG). Never give up 😁
  2. now this is interesting. Wonder if it'll help me run some cards on M17xR3 lol
  3. Someone posted A14+ for AW18 on the NBR forums but I don't seem to have it saved. I wonder if @Reciever may have a copy? But he also had the Ranger 17 R1 not the 18 so maybe not.
  4. Weird I matched all settings but still no dGPU showing up in IGFX mode maybe it’s because I’m on a12. I know there was a A14+ made on NBR forums but I never saved it
  5. I think we need to see more settings from your bios such as the pcie settings as well. Might be useful to post a bunch of pics from your bios (relevant ones of course). AW17 R1/AW18 use the same platform so they should behave almost identically with LVDS display
  6. Tried this in AW 18 but doesn’t work. When you select iGFX it turns off dGPU.
  7. I’ll try this later but it doesn’t make sense. you’re saying in iGPU only mode the dGPU shows up with that dynamic scheme option?
  8. I don’t remember about pascal but for sure RTX 2000 series and newer throttle
  9. I'm still curious if anyone with stock 980m SLI or 970m SLI motherboard has tested newer GPUS. It's a shame we can't use these newer cards in the haswell laptops
  10. I would be surprised if you can "feel" the "IPC" difference between a 4930MX/4940MX vs 4980HQ. A 4930MX OC to 4.3Ghz without any additional voltage. It can hit 4.5Ghz easily. 4980HQ is nice for Optimus since it has the extra cache but won't make a significant difference. I'd rather have OC 4930MX with 1866-2133Mhz RAM (32GB) vs 4980HQ with 16gb ram. Take it from someone who owns 10 laptops from Core 2 Quad to Ultra 9 275HX. 😁
  11. Modified vBIOS gave me code 43 unfortunately so idk if I did it correctly
  12. Yeah something about TDP issues with newer cards, so doesn't matter which GPU you use. Only other way to test is either increase the tdp to like 150w and see if it works or decrease it to like 90w.
  13. I use x-bracket from 680m I think or some 100w nvidia card.
  14. Can I haz one as well after it's done lol Do you have a extra oem heatsink for slot 2? I think both slots are the same but I want to play with 880M SLI on this platform but don't have 2nd heatsink
  15. Do you have a link? From my understanding all pascal cards do not support lvds (hardware level) at all unless you use optimus. In that case, it doesn't count as lvds since igpu outputs the display.
  16. I started getting BSOD in windows 10 and after months of troubleshooting, realized it was the gpu scheduling feature.
  17. So you're telling me Pascal with the older engineering vBIOS works on LVDS? Because for me it only works using optimus not direct gpu mode. And yes..gpu needs to have the physical lanes attached to display out. The block diagram with display outs only shows the vbios config and not the hardware itself. This is why cards like HP RTX work in eDP but ADLink etc do not from what I've seen.
  18. Turn off GPU hardware scheduling if it's on in settings app.
  19. It;s a mix of the two. Normally vbios alone can change the output.
  20. I don't know about HP. You can also try 4090 in P570WM. There's a extra vbios uploaded here (150w) model that you can try on your 4090 too to see if it boots.
  21. Have you actually tried to run 4080/4090 though? Each gpu is different and vbios is different. a vbios alone makes the difference of gpu working or not. I tried Aetina GTX 1080 in P570WM but it was too long. I'm running 880M right now and have a P4200 that needs bios chip soldered to use that. I think M17xR4 needs DP_C to be eDP not DP_D. This is why it's not working (speculations of course)
  22. Okay so it's probably working due to intel optimus. I assume discrete mode won't work. In m17xR4 it does not
  23. Does device manager show intel igpu or only nvidia gpu?
