  1. Might need to find a really good extension add-on for those types of situations. I also have a core block on order. Hopefully, it will get here this year. LOL Also trying to get another TT GF3 1650W as well. I had picked up one for a customer and now i regret not getting a second one for myself.🤦‍♂️ I had one before, but traded it in for the 1300 MSI, but now i'm noticing that it's GPU 12V rails are dropping pretty low and I don't want to chance it so i'm running my 1600W EVGA unit now. And now I'm regretting the decision as well. Trading my 1650 for the 1300 MSI.
  2. Yes, but once it gets put into an enclosed case that cable starts to retain heat and keep going up from there. I keep checking mine because it's sitting right here in an open test bench. This may have been helping me all this time, who knows, but haven't had an issue with the cable because it's always had a fan on it at some point or another. https://www.3dmark.com/pr/3403154 https://www.3dmark.com/sw/2206504 https://www.3dmark.com/sn/5680715
  3. Gigabyte Xtreme Waterforce seems to be the best one. Have not tried the Astral OC as of yet.
  4. You know, I'm starting to think that it's because that cable connector can not handle the heat. As you posted before, the connector needs it's own mini fan. I'm running about 600W to 1000W through that cable and it's sitting at about 20C to 25C right now.
  5. MSI doesn't like a lot of cross flashing this time. Speculations of course.
  6. This has been going on since 2008 my friend. And that's when i really started over clocking and modding. This is not new now that we are at the 5090 stage. As time goes on people get fed-up so they start clamping down. Another example. Our days with Alienware and the M18X line up. And how we collaborated with them and then they came back and locked us out of the next gen 18x's. You would be surprised by how may laptops came back to them for repair because of users not know what the hell they were doing with an unlocked bios. All because we tried to be nice and think we were helping when in fact all we did was dig our own graves. And then buried our selves in them. Also, to give some insight..... I have been to a few repair centers out here and the stories I have heard pretty much some up my conversation now. No one wants to be on the losing end of a mistake made. Especially if they are bragging at how great their card is doing and overclocking, then pow, card is dead. And they forgot about all their prior post on internet about what they did before the card blew up. Like the repair center couldn't find these things out. 🤦‍♂️. Like they quit selling Microscopes and equipment that can find out what happen. Almost like the show Cops or The worlds stupidest criminals. And the explanations they give are just flat out ridiculous. Edit: Okay, the card is shunted and wired for volts. Thanks to yzonkers.
  7. Not quite what I hear from those in the know. And I'll leave it at that. 🙂
  8. I would crack down as well. As a bunch of people burnt up their cards then start playing the stupid role of...Well, I didn't do anything but play a game. I never over clock and now i want you to replace it for free. They also start throwing people under the bus when they don't get the same things as other people who are in the know. They start name dropping and crying in forums. Here is a tidbit. I know exactly how the kingpin vbios got out to the masses, but i would never tell who it was. Not my place too. Bottom line is, we can't all be in the same circles as others. These are just the facts. And one has to run with the hand they are dealt, because at the end of the day....If that was you they trusted, I know damn well you are not going to be leaking anything if it meant you losing your access to all the goodies us normal people are looking for. That would be just crazy! And for any of us to ask you for it would be putting you into a position you don't want to be in. So in that regard I would never ask you.(Just my ramblings my friend.)
  9. Well, that is not entirely true.... XOC bios or shunt modding seem like some reachable goals. Well at least one of those. 😂
  10. Thanks. The Extreme Waterforce for now, but that may change. For the most part they all lock at 600W, but there is room for the spikes as long as it does not past a certain ms time frame.

  12. Hummm, pretty sure it was close to it at the time as the cpu was $2000 when it came out. And this would have been about 6 months from that time. Looking at blocks now, but may just do my card tomorrow and then wait for the block to show up.
  13. I have bought a dead CPU because it had the missing components needed to fix the partially broken CPU I had at the time. (7980XE)
  14. Ah, understood. I have a Phanteks with backplate. It was almost going to go on that 4090 LC I had last month, but that card ended up going back. Oh man, that does look nice. I might have to order one of those.
  15. Hey wait, you need a Suprim block? I still have mine sitting here.
  16. Now that all depends on the highest FE card you seen to date. Totally forgot about the board being that old, but I was also under the impression that rebar could be enabled on boards that did not have it in the bios. I would have lost that bet. Might be time to rent a system to cure your curiosity. To see first hand how much you are missing. Or not missing. 🙂 So lots of big talk Fe owners but no one wants to be first? And shunting it and putting back stock, nothing wrong with that. Just don't go over board on the over clocks and just watch the temps. Then when the blocks are ready, grab one and you are already good to go. Speaking of which, my EVC2 and shunts should be here some time today. Other alternative.....dump the card and grab anything other than an FE. Sell it for MSRP plus Tax and shipping and call it a day.
  17. The Gigabyte seems to be a little better-rounded than the Astral vbios. Who knew...
  18. Hummmm, do you have links to any of your scores? PR? What driver did you use? And not sure the FE is really up to snuff this round with the 5090. (I could be wrong) What FE's have you seen holding spots near the midrange to upper levels in the ranks? Including the ones that may have been shunted. Also to note, i'm only speaking on benchmarks. The card seems perfectly fine for gaming. Benchmarks are about scores while gaming is about FPS. And just because it might be 0.03 FPS behind does not mean a card is trash. 😂 And why is nvidiainspector not working on your card? You are using the new version that has the rBar settings right?
  19. https://www.3dmark.com/sn/5655620 Edit: For anyone thinking they have no coil whine only needs to run firestrike extreme to find out the truth. I can hear that wine over all 15 fans running in here on full blast. LOL
  20. My apologies brother TPS, I thought it was based off your max clock speeds dropping. Yes, time to hunt down a block.:)
  21. Thanks. 🙂 The first card a customer was like. I'll take it because he could get a card for months. The second card was a place holder for today when I checked the website and bam! they said they had 12. I got card number 8. And I traded in the PNY, but not before getting a 200 dollar rebate for the cards price drop. So far, I like the card alot. So much so I got accidental damage warranty so I can shunt it and feel comfortable. 🤣 They even asked me. John, you plan on tearing this card up and put it on water as well. I said yep~!!! So far though, I really do like the feel and look of the card and it over clocks nicely. GPU effective clock is the one you are after. Run a benchmark in window mode and watch what that clock does. The closer you get it to the clock speed you set. The greater the reward. The guy asked me about my 14900KS I bought from them a few weeks ago. Asked me if I delided it already. I was like, not yet. but I think I'm going to pay my man @Mr. Fox to do it as I don't have the tools for that.
  22. You have to let that go. The clock that matters is the average clock. Not the clock speed you set. Nor the max clock that is shown. Side note: This card's max voltage is 1.09V
  23. @tps3443 Ah, ok. I thought you were able to lock it then set a core speed by typing in say 200+ and see if the core stay locked at the voltage set. speed will def go up and down though. In other news I snagged an Astral today at Micro Center!
