How does duplicating threads help building stuff exactly? If anything, it makes information harder to find. Also, resorting to insults only shows your own immaturity and inability to engage in productive conversation.
  2. Wow, that's a nice price. I'm getting +2k here in Norway for the same spec M16 ...

I mean, congrats, but why do you need another thread for this? Isn't the existing one enough?
  4. There's this thread on Reddit from XMG containing a lot of interesting info on these laptops - Naturally most of this stuff applies to Mech 17 GP2 and (potentially upcoming) Tuxedo variants. PS: I've asked Tuxedo if they have any plans for the releases of new models yet, and they said "likely sometime this year".
  5. Yep, it does look promising :) But I still can't find any info on why one can't do the same with XMG/Eluktronics (especially since the former belongs to the same parent company as Tuxedo). The problem is, they seems to take way longer than XMG/Eluktronics to release new models, e.g. they still don't have anything available with 13gen CPUs + 40xx GPUs even for pre-orders. So I'm trying to figure out if it's worth the wait or to just get an XMG and install stuff by myself. Anyways, I'm not in a rush, so I'll probably wait (Have sent them a query asking for ETA as well.)
  6. It does have English, just not very easy to find :D (top right corner with 3 vertical dots ;) ) Yeah, I was thinking of the same. It's a bit strange though that XMG says the following: Despite both XMG and Tuxedo, seemingly, being the same company.
  7. So apparently for those who want official Linux support on these machines, XMG recommends to go through their sister company Tuxedo Computers. (https://www.xmg.gg/en/faq/portfolio/#linux) At first glance it actually looks quite promising for those who what to be sure that the laptop has good Linux support. Anyone has any experience with them? Despite both XMG and Tuxedo being owned by same parent corp (?), it seems that the latter is usually slightly behind on the releases of new models.
  8. That's interesting, thanks. I also found today someone mentioning that XMG was better with providing updates to their systems. Dunno how true that is though.
  9. So the XMG Neo 17 (23) and Eluktronics Mech 17 GP2 , these are the same machines just branded differently? Or are there any differences between them?
  10. Thanks for the replies @win32asmguy. Sounds to me like this might be something I should put back on the table for consideration :) Need to figure out if they'll ship to Europe though.
  11. I have been eyeing them last year (12th gen CPUs), but decided to wait. These laptops do look nice on paper, and barebones versions is also a good option that almost no one else provides. I have a few questions , just in case you have the answers :) - Do you know how good is Linux support? - Is this suitable as a work-oriented laptop? Or are they aimed at gaming primarily? (I mean , build quality, stability of the system, etc etc thing that'd you'd expect from a business workstation or similar) - Have you ever had to deal with support (or is this your first Eluktronics laptop?) I've read some bad things about these guys last year. Although granted, you can find horror stories about almost any manufacturer. - How good is the cooling solution? (w/o the LPP)
  12. Source? I also see a lot of reviews mentioning that M18/M16 with 4080 should be available on Feb 9th, but none of them mention the source of these rumors. I guess we'll find out soon enough :D
  13. Yeah, no I agree I also like to get feedback on software from people whom I interact with on a regular basis (like this forum's members for example). That was more of a "general suggestion" for anyone looking for software alternatives.
  14. You could also check https://alternativeto.net/, which in my past experience (though it was awhile since I've used it) helped me find some good software alternatives. It also contains proprietary and paid software links, but you can filter that out if you wish.
  15. I think I saw somewhere that only two (or three?) slots are 2280 size, which might also explain the weird "9GB upper limit" if the one or two slots are smaller (although even in this case it should be possible to have more than 9GB total, and you're most likely right that it's just them not testing compatibility with other drives). I'm also hoping that all of them are 2280, but I don't think it'll be a deal-breaker for me if everything else checks out. I guess we'll find out soon enough anyways.
  16. I guess it could be possible if the power that your fans require matches with that of an AirJet. What I also like about this, which they mentioned in the video, is the possibility to "upgrade". Just plug in additional (or bigger) AirJet stick and you have upgraded your cooling potential. I think this is one of those "breakthroughs in laptop cooling" we've all been waiting for.
  17. Seen this the other day, very impressive stuff. Since cooling/space is often a limiting factor in laptops, makes me wonder what excuse will OEMs come up with next for artificially limiting performance :D Hopefully this gets updated for use in thicker laptops as well, and does not stay just as a "cooling solution for ultrabooks"
  18. Thank God it did, it got so bad by the end that I couldn't watch a single episode through and through... What an example of taking an interesting concept and starting strong, and then ending where no one cares anymore lol So beginning was also good, but seems like it's getting worse as well? (have only watched 1st and 2nd seasons). Heh, thanks for the heads up, I guess I'll pass it, no need to ruin a previously formed good impression :D
  19. Heh, I haven't actually played the game, so nothing to compare to or complain about so far :D
  20. Anyone started watching "The last of us"? I think the first episode was pretty OK and looking forward to what's coming next.
  21. Ah, right, maybe I misunderstood what you meant . Well yeah it will be interesting to see tests from other manufacturers if they come out earlier .
  22. Oh really, is it going to be that soon? I'm regularly checking for new announcements , but have not seen these dates anywhere. Will be very nice if this is true.
  23. This is the best info we have so far: Something tells me that highest-end configs will be north of 3k USD, I can't see it being cheaper than that.
  24. I'm sure most who are interested in this laptop have already seen the initial "pre-reviews", but just to collect some links in this tread: - https://www.tomshardware.com/news/alienware-m18-bigger-screens-ces-2023 - https://www.ultrabookreview.com/60886-alienware-m18-m16/ It's interesting that some reviews actually mention 13980HX. I still trust the official specs a bit more, but I guess time will tell :)
  25. Yeah, I'm also thinking that the Intel CPU should beat AMD in performance if there's enough cooling. On the GPU side, I probably care way less about it, and will likely not go for the top one unless the price makes sense. Nah, I'm by no means looking for a "light and thin" laptop heh. I do like the M18, but it weighs around what, 4.5kg? That, plus charger, mouse, etc and I don't think it will be fun to carry to work daily lol. M16 in this case looks like a better alternative if it can provide the same performance. Also, I don't think we're getting 13980HX, but rather 13900HX, isn't it? At least the specs only mention 13900HX. Although they seem to be pretty similar anyways, I don't really expect that much gain from 13980.
