I haven't watched all of it, but I must say the parts I did scroll through were completely uninteresting and boring. And the "disassembly"... he really should have prepared better, at least skim through the manuals or something. Not knowing where the other drive is supposed to go and being confused about the camm module... why do a disassembly at all in this case? I'm not impressed at all

Gloomhaven. We are thinking to play Gloomhaven (boardgame) with a few of my work colleagues, so decided to give the PC adaptation a try just to understand the game a bit. It's quite good actually (and pretty challenging also), for someone who likes these kinds of games.

Oh yeah, that monitor is sick. And congrats on getting a completely fault-free one as well. For this price it's a steal. It looks nice also btw. You need to find a matching case for it

This makes me want to go back to desktops more than I would wish Not that I don't like desktops, but I just can't go without a laptop right now and having both is a bit of an overkill for me. I'm sooo looking forward to the final build and benchmarks.

I don't own a Clevo myself, but I do follow some of the topics about these machines so I know we have a great "Clevo gang" here. Welcome to the forums! And all the best in fixing your issue.

Yeah, I can see that. I remember when I started watching, unpredictability of it was one of the things that kept me engaged.

Part of the problem the way I see it is - there's very little competition in workstation-class laptops, and it's getting thinner by the year. So long as they (OEMs) don't need to compete very hard for buyers, they will keep pushing all sorts of crap on us, because, well, they can and we don't have a choice. So why wouldn't they sell you a more expensive GPU, even if it doesn't do you any good. To be honest I'm kind of disappointed with Dell this year. Not that I wouldn't get me a 7770 (provided my sales rep ever comes back from vacation and responds...) Then again, at this point I also don't see any good alternatives. But looking at the issues with this year's precisions, starting from manufacturing issues and ending with the hoops that users have to jump through to get the performance up to what it should be when these units come out of the factory... And this is for the top-of-the line business workstations? So much as I like(d) Dell in the past, I'd probably jump ship and get something else ...if there was anything else worthy of getting.

The Boys is great! I was thinking to get my lady to watch this one also, but I'm not entirely sure she's going to enjoy it as much as I did I fear it's way to much gore for her, which she usually doesn't like whatever the show is about.

Hooked my wify on The Expanse, so we're watching it now (she's watching, I'm re-watching really). I think it's one of the best sci-fi shows out there, even though the last couple seasons aren't as strong as the beginning IMO. Also tried the Rings of Power and House of Dragon. Can't say I'm very impressed with either, not so far at least. I think lately I've a very low tolerance levels for stuff that I want to be good and which turns out mediocre at best.

Whut? These defective back covers are being sold on ebay now? That is so wrong... Can't help but wonder why they weren't disposed of right away. Or maybe a batch that got out before the issue was discovered? The back covers sometimes become available even before the whole machine is out. But in any case, the quality control on this year's Precisions is worrying...

No 'Apple' section in Notebook Manufacturers subforum?
serpro69 replied to serpro69's topic in Site Suggestions
Oh, I see. Tried to search a bit before making this post, since it was strange that there hasn't been a forum before, but didn't find anything useful. Can't say I'm very surprised Apple isn't popular here I suppose https://notebooktalk.net/forum/71-other-manufacturers/ could also be used for this purpose if anyone has to share anything about Apple. -
I wonder why there's no section for Apple under 'Notebook Manufacturers' sub-forum? Although I can definitely understand why MacBook wouldn't generally be popular with the majority on these forums. Don't get me wrong, I dislike Apple products as much as the next guy, whether they're phones or notebooks, even the OS itself bothers me a lot (which is one of the main reasons I almost never consider macbooks). But with Apple's new M1(2) chips, looking at what other manufacturers have to offer this year, and if I don't care about gaming, I think macbooks could be an alternative for a work-oriented laptop.
-
I think it should be at least better built with higher QC (similarly to Dell's XPS vs Precision), and have a better keyboard (work oriented and not a gaming one). Performance wise, it shouldn't be worse than the gaming version at the very least. PS: let's maybe move the discussion to MSI section? :D

The GT77 thread is here. There's a youtube review on the second page that has some benchmarks, among other things.

Isn't that the workstation version of Titan-GT77 ? I remember checking out its thread some time ago and the benchmarks were quite good. But was also said to be very loud IIRC. I kind of keep searching for replacements/alternatives every now and then, but each time my heart tells me to go back and wait for Dell for some reason :D

It's (more commonly) called a favicon. Should be a very easy fix, probably the favicon.ico file is just missing altogether.

Oh yeah, I remember seeing that Asus monstrosity once and thinking to myself "who would ever want this..."

I saw this LinusTechTips review some time ago, and it seems that eluktronics still has some things to polish out in the LPP setup. And I don't know, if I'm willing to have an additional LPP box on my desk, I would probably go with a desktop than a laptop at this point. At least until the LPP is perfected and becomes prevalent. And maybe gets paired socketed CPUs? (probably never going to happen, but one can't help but wish :D ) But it's still very interesting to see these kinds of developments in the laptop world. I wonder how soon other manufacturers will pick this up.

Welcome! Nice to see that people who were part of NBR are able to find these forums. -
I used to have gas masks at home along with a bunch of other prepper-like stuff years back. But after leaving my country and moving around a lot I didn't really bother + it's kind of hard to travel with. But lately it's been on my mind a lot that I should at least assemble a single backpack with all the "must have stuff" in it. Not sure where to begin though, back home I could get most of what I needed locally. Now... ebay I guess is my best option. Not that I think anything crazy will happen that I'm going to need it. But as someone (Kafka? I feel these days it's impossible to say for sure to whom a given quote belongs lol ) said - “Better to have, and not need, than to need, and not have.”

Nice to see more PopOS popping up :D is that a built-in dock at the bottom or a third party? I also can't help but wonder, what was the reason behind blurring the username?
