Anyone install Bios 1.31.0 dated 6/14/24? I am updating drivers on two 7560 and one 7760. I typically use Command Update just to see what is available. All three are showing 1.31.0 available. One 7560 is running 1.26.0 and the other 1.21.1 and the 7760 running 1.27.0. When I update bios I use the dell download and not the Command Update. I just want to see if anyone has tried this version and if it seems ok. On my 7760 I have skipped over 1.28.0, 1.29.0, 1.30.1. The 7560 are the kids college machines and I figured I would update as well.

5570 Power on / Lid closed
Rinconmike replied to Kursplat's topic in Pro Max & Precision Mobile Workstation
I use the WD19DCS and WD22TB4. As @Aaron44126 noted these have a button on the dock to turn the system on and off. I disabled the function in the Bios that allows system to power on when the dock is plugged in so I always use the power button on the dock. Lid remains closed. -
The 7560 I have issues with we previously had the fans chanced. I just ran some more diagnostics tests, this time in windows using support assist and all pass. No weird sounds from the fans. During fan test the fans to do spin fast. Same on my 7760. During memory test you can hear the fans. I just looked in the even logs and saw a bunch of entries that noted "Warning for USB-USBHUB3 USB Device Draining system power when system idle" and then one right before the power off time that said "the system is entering modern standby" two more on the USB error (within a second) and then the system shut down. I wonder if this issue is a windows issue. He had the system plugged into the WD19DCS dock with the two USB that power the computer. I told him for now along with the dock use a power cord.

What message did you get? I have not installed this one yet but was going to install on a 7560 that is on 1.26.0 now. Typically I make sure I do not have any dock or external devices connected and then run the update. I also just noticed that in the previous bios version list, 1.23.0 is missing. I wonder if they pulled it. That is what I have on my 7760. For 1.26.0 and 1.27.0 there is a note: "Once the BIOS is upgraded, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to version 1.23.0 or earlier. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system." But earlier bios versions are listed. Just not 1.23.0.

Well he just told me it happened a few days ago. Both times he woke up with the message so it happened at night and he was not running anything. Hooked to the dock and monitors were off. I am going to try to change the thermal management from Optimized to Ultra Performance. Maybe just the change will change something. The system Bios is on 1.26. This is the system that lost the service tag a few weeks back. So maybe the MB!

I previously had an issue with my Son's 7560 where the fans sounded like griding. Diag tests passed but due to sound Dell replaced the fan. This was a couple months ago. Well my son woke up to this message in teh clip below. The fans sound normal. The boot diag quick tests passed. We ran just the test on fans again and passed. Any ideas.

7760 hibernating no matter what I do

Have you tried with just laptop display? maybe it is an issue with the monitor or cable? -
7760 hibernating no matter what I do
Rinconmike replied to ccvortex's topic in Pro Max & Precision Mobile Workstation
Is it that the monitor is shutting off or going to sleep? After re-reading sounds like it is the monitor is not coming back after the 30 minute time out but if you turn that setting off the monitors stays on. What if you set it to 45 minutes? If enable Hybrid graphics is on, did you install the intel driver first then the Nvida driver? I recall seeing that the intel driver had to be installed first. Probably not the issue, but something else to try. -

Is this docked or not docked? Regular power brick for power? Does the system note battery fully charged? What OS? What are the power settings for quick start (enabled or not) and sleep settings? What bios version? What are the bios settings you have off? -
Back to my original issue today on it being in Manufacturing mode. Something change settings in Bios. There was a Setting under Power for wake on connecting the dock. I am pretty sure that was off. My son confirmed that he always had to press the power button to turn it on. Before updating from 1.23 to 1.26 I took photos of all settings and this was enabled so I do not think going from 1.23.0 to 1.26.0 changed it. So I had to disable it again. Now the system is running in AHCI mode and not the default RAID. That did not change. That is still in AHCI mode. I am not sure what happened but something deleted the service tag and changed at least the one other bios setting.

thanks. I did not try just disabling the NVPCF. I missed that going through the posts. But uninstalling the NVPCF seems to fix it. this had two. I remember on one of my other systems I had to uninstall one of the two. Now in windows. In Device Manager The NVPCF driver is 31.0315.3534 The Nvidia Graphics Driver is 31.0.15.3645 Separate issue, in the Bios should I leave pre-boot behavior as thorough or change to minimal like my other machines. I do not think I changed on my other machines. I this one I do not recall ever checking until now.

I tried installing the latest nvidia driver from nvidia site. same thing. I scrolled up and read @heikkuri post and I need to do that but that is not 100% clear to me on uninstalling the nvida driver. Also stinks every time I boot I need to enter the bitlocker key to get into safe mode. Is that normal? Edit: In safemode I went to device manager and uninstalled the nvidia driver and two framework entries. I then was able to boot ok. I then went in and uninstalled the Nvidia Driver under Programs. I rebooted and it went into windows. under device manager there was the exclamation point next the Nvidia Graphics Card and The one Framework entry. I then installed the Dell Latest Nvidia Driver which is 536.45. So I am back up and running for now.

So the Service Tag was missing. Not sure what caused this. booting into Bios (F2) and the System Management screen came up. Entered the Service Tag and saved. Rebooted the screen came up and I hit Alt-F to exit manufacturing mode. It then booting into windows. I restart and seemed to boot fine now. I chatted with Dell Pro Support and he has no idea why this happened. I will run the diagnostics next. the system is in Bios 1.23.0. I will update to 1.26.0 EDIT: I have not updated bios yet. I noticed when booting it is slow to get to dell logo. I checked bios and the pre-boot behavior is thorough. My other 7560 and 7760 is on minimal. any reason not to change this? Not sure if it was always like this or this issue changed it.

My son has a 7560. He said on boot he got a message that said something like manufacturer mode and then service tag is not is not programmed properly. He then said it booted into windows fine. That is all I have right now and will be looking at it later? A month or two ago we had the fans replaced and had to replace the battery. No Motherboard change and no hardware changes since. Any idea what this can be? Could he have pressed a key combination at boot that caused this? Could it be from a Windows update? I did previously turn off the setting of letting the bios update via Windows update.

I doubled check and same part number on the batteries. In Dell Optimizer under Power I can now toggle on and off the Dynamic Charge Policy. Previously I could not. Now, Dynamic Charge Policy (Recommended) is "on" where with the other battery in Dell optimizer I could not turn on the Dynamic (noted it was off and grayed out) and it would state: “Your 3 year warranty on this battery has locked your ability to change charging modes" Although it was grayed out and notes off, maybe it is locked "on" the Dynamic Charging so if I leave it, it is the same thing. Now If I turn it off, I can then choose a charging mode. Some photos below. Also, in Bios previously I could not change the battery configuration. Now I can and it is on Primarily AC use. This system will be used on battery for a couple hours one or two days a week and other than that it is on AC power. So I assume this is a good setting, Dell Optimizer with Old Battery Dell Optimizer with New Battery

I get the replacement battery from dell and all seems ok. The battery connector looks to seat properly now. One thing I noticed is In the Bios, previously, this noted the Battery Life Type “Long Life Cycle” With the new battery it notes “Standard”. The part number of the new battery is the same as the old. I did order the system with the long life battery. Anyone know the difference between “Long Life Cycle” and the Standard when the physical battery is the same part number?

New battery shipped. Tech said they cannot ship batteries next day so it will arrive Friday. Hopefully it will solve the problem. Also, when taking the back cover off, the front side closest to the slot card comes off easy now. Turns out the tech broke one of the clips. The screws do hold it on so there is no gap or anything once screwed down.
-
thanks. Removing the battery, now on power it seems ok. I am not sure if it is the battery or the tech messed up the cable. It did not want to stay seated. While I had it open, I held the connected in and power on the system (base not on) and it powered on. I turned off right away. if I did not hold the connector in, it would not turn on.

Does anyone know what fast blinking amber light is ont eh front LED? It is constant blinking and no pause. also, the last Diag I ran was very slow. moving around in Bios is slow. Like it is stuck in low power? In bios it says current clock is 0.79. Can this be because no battery. The power supply connected is a 240W. Edit: In Windows very slow. Task Manager it says 0.18GHZ! Any ideas to get to full power while plugged in?

Does not power on, on battery. Plugged in. Light on front flashing amber fast In Bios noted Battery Level 0. Notes communication error under health. Ran Boot Diagnostics Diag Error Battery – The Battery is not installed Error Code: 2000-0131 Sensor: the (OTHER) reading (0C) is lower than expected. Error: 2000:0315 I took the panel off and re-seated the battery. The prongs on the MB look ok. See Photo below. However, the battery cable connecter seems loose. No matter what I do. If I press on right side of the plug the left comes out a hair. I checked the cable on batter side and it is in. Put base back on. It would not start on battery. Same no battery in bios and same diag errors. I sent the info to Dell. The should send me a new battery and cable.
