What do you get with an external screen? After trying that can you try turning on hybrid graphics? what does it show at boot or if you go into bios?

Firmware updates for the WD19DCS list a WD22 series so I assume that is coming out soon if not already out. EDIT: Here is the WDTB4. https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-thunderbolt-dock-wd22tb4/apd/210-bdqh/pc-accessories https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-thunderbolt-dock-wd22tb4-module/apd/470-afit/pc-accessories

I got on a 7760 and two 7560. Probably will never use. I agree it could be a security issue of some cant take the laptop but can pull the drive. I am not concerned with that. I also think on the 7x60 since the drive under the door is the only Gen4 it is a waste since that is where I have the boot drive and have no need for swapping boot drives. Another issue on the 7x60 is the disappearing drive issue that others have had and I do not want to pull the drive unless i need to. On the 7x70 since all slots are Gen4, it may be more useful where you can have the boot drive in one of the other bays and a data drive to swap under the door.

I thought it was that with the first system, they showed the ship date the day it hit the US and then it was two day delivery. And the second when it shipped from the factory. On the first one, the warranty started the day it was delivered on 7/23/21. On the second one where it was delivered on 9/17/21, the warranty started on 9/11/21. The second one also missed the original estimated ship date of 8/12/21. The new estimated date was 10/25/2021 and then it did ship before that. A third 7560 I had 7560 ordered 2/7/22 shipped 3/2/22 delivered 3/3/22. Estimate ship was 4/12/22.

I sometimes get garbled text in outlook on an external monitor (laptop lid closed). Scrolling the window usually fixes it. I do have Hybrid Graphics on but also selected the option in bios to output the external screens using the Nvidia card. I think I had this also with Hybrid graphics off and with Hybrid graphics on but not setting it so the external monitors default to the Nvidia.

7760 ordered 7/2/21 shipped 7/21/21 delivered 7/23/21 7560 ordered 7/6/21 shipped 9/9/21 delivered 9/17/21 the 7760 had two day delivery. The 7560 had next day, but still took a while coming from China.

I chatted with Pro Support and asked why they pulled 1.10.1 and this is what he found: The only documentation I can see on our end is that it looks like a couple cases of systems experiencing a no boot issue after updating to 1.10.1. So that may have been why it was pulled, is that they found an issue with the update, or that could have just been an issue with those systems specifically. If no issues occurred immediately, you are likely fine. As far as the two cases I found, the no boot problems occurred right after they updated. But there is no official info or issues with it that has been passed down after searching. I see on both cases, there was no hardware replacement. One restored their system image with a backup and it worked fine, and then on the other, the BIOS had caused an issue with the specific NVIDIA graphics driver they had installed, which they uninstalled in SafeMode, then restarted, and everything worked.

Thanks. I found it. It is under "Update,Recovery" "Enable UEFI Capsule Firmware Updates This option controls whether this system allows BIOPS updates via UEFI capsule update packages. NOTE: Disabling this option will block BIOS updates from services such as Micrsoft Windows Update and Linux Vendor Firmware Service (LVFS)." Mine is on (Default). But luckily I have never had a bios update via MS Windows Update on the 7760 or 7560 (or my 7710 if it has this). Now I need to decide if I turn it off.

Enabling "enable direct discrete display output" now has the HDMI audio work. Maybe when I had it working previously it was before I had the dock and was hooking up directly to the HDMI and mDP. Only downside with this is I do not see the dell boot logo on the external screens when booting. External screens do not come on now until the windows login. Before I would see the Dell Logo and spinning dots. When connected to the dock, I have the laptop closed. Should not be an issue unless I have a boot issue and will need to open the laptop to see what is going on. The setting in Bios does note "Pre-OS content is only visible on the internal display." so this is expected.

I updated my 7760 from 1.7.0 to 1.10.1. I also updated the firmware on the WD19DCS. Before the update to 1.10.1, I had an issue where there is no HDMI Audio to the external monitors connected to the dock with Hybrid Graphics enabled. At some point prior to updating to 1.7.0 (maybe 1.5.0 or 1.6.1) HDMI Audio to monitors connected to the dock worked. At some point I turned off Hybrid Grahics and then at some point updated to 1.7.0 and HDMI Audio Worked. I thought the issue was with the bios and hoped the 1.10.1 fixed it. But I still have no HDMI audio output with Hybrid Graphics enabled. In Device Manager, it shows NVIDIA HDMI Audio but no device connected. I have two external monitors. One connected HDMI and on Display port. The display switching appears to work fine. I tired reinstalling the Nvidia Drivers and no luck. The one thing I did not try after re-enabling Hybrid Graphics was to uninstall both the intel and Nvidia Drivers, then install intel, and then install NVidia. EDIT: When Updating the bios note that I had nothing connected to system other than power cord (not dock or usb devices). I exited Malwarebytes. I also do not have Bit locker turned on so I did not have to suspend that. Probably did not have to exit Malwarebytes. Previously I would manual suspend Bit locker (when enabled) but the updater would do that if not manually done. Just how I did it.

Here is a post on the Dell forums with two users reported issues with 1.10.1. https://www.dell.com/community/Precision-Mobile-Workstations/7760-can-not-boot-windows-10-after-update-BIOS-1-10-1/m-p/8180381#M9313 EDIT: Anyone that did update to 1.10.1 can you note what bios version you were on. I am still on 1.7.0 and plan on holding out a little longer.

Good find. Looks like the WB22TB4 is the new replacement for the WD19TBS which also has the 180W adapter and you need to plug in the power brick with the 7760 (looks like both deliver 130W power reading on the web pages). I wonder if they will have a new replacement to the WD19DCS. Here is an older post on NBR for the WD19TBS and WD19DCS https://web.archive.org/web/20220125093108/http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/dell-docks-wd19dcs-and-wd19tbs.836551/ Current Dell Links The new WD19TB4 https://www.dell.com/en-us/member/shop/dell-thunderbolt-dock-wd22tb4/apd/210-bdqh/pc-accessories WD19TBS https://www.dell.com/en-us/member/shop/dell-thunderbolt-dock-wd19tbs/apd/210-azbi/pc-accessories WD19DCS https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/dell-performance-dock-wd19dcs/apd/210-azbn/pc-accessories

I posted over in Malwarebytes forum and they removed the block. I am also waiting on the bios update. I wish they were a little more transparent and listed all the fixes. If you go by just the two fixes listed, it is not critical to update for me. Whenever I go into the bios or do the firmware update, I always disconnect from the dock and disconnect any external items. I update the bios with just the computer and main power brick connected.

Not a lot of fixes listed. Does not list anything that was in the pulled 1.6.1, 1.7.0, and 1.8.0. Fixes & Enhancements - Fixed the issue where the system stops responding during the BIOS update. This issue occurs when the system is connected Dell WD19-DC dock. - Fixed the issue where the ESC key on the system keyboard stops working in the BIOS setup. This issue occurs when an external USB keyboard is connected to the system. also cannot go back - Once the BIOS is upgraded, you cannot downgrade the BIOS to version 1.8.0 or earlier. BIOS downgrades are restricted when there are security updates and important fixes with earlier versions that impact the functionality of the system. Separate, Malwarebytes is blocking the forum in edge. I am posting this via iPhone. Anyone else see this?

I know this is off topic, but not sure where to post and frustrated with this issue. I have been setting up the 7560 with RTX 3080 for my son. He has a Steam Game Hearts of Iron Iv that won't run. There is a red triangle and it says game failed to load. So I have been beating my head on this and found in the paradox support forums to install these older DirectX. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 I installed and it did not fix it. It also noted to install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Latest Supported Downloads https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 But I did not try reinstalling since the computer already has all this installed. My first question is did by installing this can I have created an issue for the machine? Messed anything up? I was hesitant since it is from 2010, but decided to install it. So after installing and testing Hearts of Iron IV does not work, I ran another 3DMark Time Spy and where I had a score of 8894 it is now 7478. I rebooted the machine, put it in Ultra Performance and rain Time Spy again and got 8946. I then put the power on Optimized again and got 8661. Previous scores were 8965, 8894, 8899 but I do not remember which was in ultra performance and which were optimized. Maybe that one low score was a fluke or something still running in the background. Could installing this older direct X caused this? I ran Dxdiag and it shows the DirectX 12. Anyone happen to use this game? thanks. Edit: I exited some background apps and ran Time Spy Again and got 9045 in Ultra Performance and 8900 in Optimized. Edit 2: Got HOI IV to work. Uninstalled HOI IV and Paradox. Did a repair on the C++ 2015-2019 x64 and x86 apps. Rebooted. Reinstalled HOI IV. It works! Ran Time Spy with power set to Ultra Performance and got 9212

I curious what the cause is. Some have the issue and some do not. I have not read on the old NBR or here someone with the factory installed drive having the issue. I wonder if it is an issue with the switch that taking the drive in and out causes an issue to the switch. I still have not replaced my OEM drive with a dell replacement (separate post) since the drive has been working and concerned messing with it I will have the disappearing drive issue. When I asked Dell about it, they sent the below. I sent a photo of my SSD in the Gen 4 slot (I did not take it out) and they said the carrier looks correct. If you can, take photos of the old MB and new to compare. One thing I just notice when I went to paste the first image, it came up as "Damaged SSD Detection Switch" which I assume is from the file name the tech had for the image. ------snip---- We are needing to look at a few things on your system in regards to your question about the hard drive disappearing, Power the computer off to prevent any data loss. Either remove the bottom cover or open the optional quick access SSD door. Identify the correct SSD. Remove the SSD and carrier bracket from the computer. Visually check if the SSD detection switch is visible under the sliding lock tab? ( I have provided you a photo of what we are looking for.) 6. If there is a switch, does the SSD bracket have a barcode?
