AMD continue stealing features Nvidia have used for their graphics cards. Jep, AMD eat more and more features from Nvidia's graphics features portfolio they have been alone with. What remains now is the performance crown/or performance vs dollars for Nvidia. This is all they will have left to try keep up their very high market shares for graphics cards. So not so sure Nvidia will give up maximum profits/keep up their high market shares. All Nvidia can do forwards now is going for the performance crown. Intel will go for the budget crown, AMD for the "in middle" and Nvidia is now forced to take the perfomance crown. If not they will lose hard in this battle.
AMD NOISE SUPPRESSION Nvidia RTX Voice should have competition

And next gen AMD GPUs will have 'enhanced ray tracing'.

I said to ignore part 1. Maybe you should go watch part 1. Luumi does not demonstrate it as GamersNexus did, but he talks about that process sometimes damaging the modules. It might be more fun to do it that way though.
The way I have always done it works and causes no damage to the memory but it ruins the original adhesives and pads in the process. If you need to sell or RMA the memory and any point that part is less than ideal because it makes putting them back together more difficult and costs something more than zero.
Yep, and with new platform and DDR5 there is a bigger chance you have to RMA your ram sticks.

Yep, and former AMD engineer who jumped on Intel to be their GPU boss have failed total. And he is the specialist engineer on software for graphics cards. Can see this on how the drivers works 🙂 Can't see this mess is anything better than their old fashion iGPU's. I just can't understand why Intel want drag their reputation down the drain. This gen new graphics cards should have never ever been released this year (probably never). But I expect greed and looking for more profits is their main motivator for pushing out this Junk....

Why not follow same pathern as they do for their power hogs of processors? Yep, Intel will try go for budget/ low end for mainstream gamers. There is nothing Nvidia and AMD should be afraid of from this mess of a grapics card collection forwards. What a downturn regarding increased competition in the graphics cards market.-

Nowhere did I think the 4090 was going to deliver 2x the performance of the 3090ti but 66% is a pretty hefty uplift. I'm curious to see the maturation of RT equally if not more than the rasterization uplift.
And no way do I listen to Jensen or Lisa with their presentation numbers. When reviewers and users get ahold of their products as always performance is always less than advertised.
Someone doing napkin math places the 4070 below the 3080 (especially it is has the reported crippled bus):
Pre-launch speculation is always so much fun! 🙂
My 2080 Ti (not the best OC version) compete within top 4 for 3070 cards in TSE graphics leaderboard. So I don't think coming RTX 4070 will fall behind the 3080. And then we have Nvidia pumping up the TDP for 4000 series cards to try compete with AMD. We'll see. But my best guess... More closer to 3080 Ti, if it not beat it 🙂

Now with this dumbest pile of trash move with 3 year cycle, the OS will be a clusterf***.
All in all games, software, even pirated stuff all of them will break with this garbage move. Longevity of software and the x86+Windows will be ruined completely. This is a very bad future if happens
With the new move from Microsoft regarding Hardware requirements for the Win 11 disaster I think Microsoft now will use the 3 year cycle for each new OS to kick out more processors from next Win versions. A very nice way to help themself (they create own turdbooks) and it's partners to force new HW upgrades down our necks. They couldn't do that so easy with Win 10 who will run almost 10 years since release in 2015. I'm sure their HW partners also have a finger into this. Run Win as a services ain't profitable enough for them or their partners. Hence this new move. Yep, from worse to even more worse. And the small feature updates forwards within the 3 year cycle will come when you didn't expect it. A ticking bomb for those that update regularly without seeing what they'll get..

This only worked for Version 4.0.6.102, and after I restarted, XTU refuses to boot and the launcher says something along the lines of, "cannot start because of unsupported platform." I could not do the trick with version 2.1.408.35 and 3.2.0.24 as they don't use a Package Cache folder and don't have any .MSI files. I even tried installing Intel Desktop Control Center, and even that gives me the same "Cannot install on unsupported platform" error.
I also tried the working with old_6.4.1.23 file, and that one worked, but gave me no options to change anything.Last I can think of is re-try version 5.1.0.23
Have you tried with different Win OS? Or is your tests done with Win 7 ? And is there another bios version for your MB you can try?

NVIDIA partners have started to make GeForce RTX 3050 graphics cards with trimmed down specs available in pre-built PCs. You probably already know this but for the benefit of anyone else reading that may not, it is always best to install the OS with only the drive you wish to install it on. All others should be physically removed or disabled in the bios. That way each operating system will have its own unique BCD/MBR. Then you can add and remove anytime you want to without having to worry about whether or not it will affect one of the other installed operating systems. If you install multiple Windows version with a previous there will be only one bootloader on one drive, and the function of all OSes will be dependent upon the presence of the drive where the first OS was installed because the bootloader for all of them is on that drive.
@Tenoroon if this is not the one I shared with you before, try it first. XTU 4.2.0.8 AW18
This is probably the one I gave you before, but I do not recall for certain.
So true. But I mean it can be circumvented if you have double partitions on each drive if I don't take wrong. And yep, a bigger chance to avoid deleting the wrong drivers also if you disconnect all the others in the bios before the install. Have been there before. But Macrium backups help on that 🙂

We will never ever see a equal good OS as old Win 7 and the LTSC versions of Win 10 2019/2021 LTSC. All we will get is Apple copy cats.
Btw... I'm on the way make an 5= quintuple boot. But not sure what I will put in as the 5th OS for my pc 🙂 One thing for sure... It won't be Win 11.
Yep, a lot talk about OS bro @Reciever but choice of OS is important for benchmarks who is this threads main topic (we are on topic).
Got an new ssd to put in more OS's. From what I have read. After 5= quintuple boot then we will have 6 = sextuple, 7 = septuple, 8 = octuple 🙂

A few 980Ti here but those is the weaker one. And not interested for me.
I wanted only the 980 Ti Lightning or the Zotac GTX 980 Ti AMP! Extreme. I expect getting back my money here if I wanted sell it on the used market here. The cheaper and weaker 980 Ti cards cost well above 200 Euro here home. So this won't be a big lose.

A new baby is soon on its way to bro Papusan's Casa. And once again.... No money going to nvidia from me 🙂 Be too greedy is not profitable in the long term. They can just keep their 2 years old 30xx cards in their shelves for me. Let them loose money.

Yes most of the market wants to go into one direction but if it is because many of them are brainwashed sheep then it is not really a free decision, is it?
I cannot even offer that as a manufacturer if I wanted and I assume that the secret Dell deal tells it all - Dell got the socketed 3080 Ti because they have some pull with Nvidia whereas Clevo did get nothing for this generation. It is no free choice when it is accompanied by massive brainwashing and backdoor dealings within the industry that prevents superior products being on offer as they are inconvenient and bad for business. Top of the line BGA books getting shown up is not good for the slim and light business model after all and could show people that not all is good in slim and light land.
Dell have never offered socketed 3080 Ti mobile graphics cards. Same also for for 3080 mobile. Their last try was the DEll proprietary 2080 super graphics cards for their failed flagship Area-51M
On 7/16/2022 at 9:58 AM, 1610ftw said:I have watched notebookcheck for years and the constant hate-mongering against anything that is a bit heavier is so annoying. A few weeks ago I called them out on it and suggested that there may be some benefit in reporting on the state of the DTR for a change or even to promote bigger and smarter machines or to inquire with manufacturers why everything in the laptop world currently seems to be going in one (thinner and lighter) direction. Of course the answer was that there was no answer - crickets.
Will be much easier to do this with laptops that get power via USB once we get the higher 240W power limit that is about to be implemented. At that point even without the infamous Eurocom power supply we would be able to deliver up to 330W via the regular power supply and we can add another 240W via USB-C and if there are two USB-C connectors with power delivery we could ramp it up to two of them and a total of 810W or 480W via UCB-C alone - problem solved.
As for that MSI GE77HX it is quite obvious that a 330W power adapter is what is needed and the bigger GE77HX even pulls up to 350W - we used to have solutions with two power bricks for that, too from the manufacturers like for example MSI but not any more I guess - just reduce power by throttling and you'll be fine.
Remember all laptop OEMs remove more and more I/O ports. Add in more ports for power be it USB-C for more power won't happen. Just look at the Alienwares.... Dongles all the way to replace real I/O ports.
And the USB-C adapters is a lot slower to charge the battery. + this type chargers isn't as reliable as real old fashion 330W power adapters. No in hell small and cute USB-C chargers can do the same as a real 330W Delta PSU.
14 hours ago, VEGGIM said:Can't go higher wattage if the chips are hardlocked. Remember, i said that the 6800m is the only one in the lineup mobile market that doesnt seem to have a wattage limits. since its shown that some have it go up to 171w. Although its hard to tell cuz in hwinfo it shows cpu + gpu power cuz smartshift.
Smartshift IMO is better than dynamic boost due to how it communicates with the cpu due to being the same brand.
There has to be some legitimate concern for giving it a bigger powerbrick other than hurr durr lets htrow power at it. Lenovo does this but only cuz its cheaper to keep giving its legion 300w bricks. heck you can 5 legion 5 pro's with 3060s with 300w power bricks for some reason. All graphics cards have power spikes. And software monitoring isn't reliable. As etc.... 3090 Ti power spikes (load peaks) can be as high as 50% above TDP.

Do you know of a way to reprogram DDR5 modules? Does Thaiphoon Burner work with DDR5? I have an MSI MEG Z690 Unify-X and flashing the motherboard firmware seems to have corrupted the SPD and erased the XMP profiles. Replacing the sticks proved the corruption occurred on the modules and not the motherboard.
Thanks. I would also send a message to tech support of your brand. I’m sure some know away how to fix this. DDR5 Is new but it can’t be too difficult for people/engineers find away for this.
Maybe when AMD is out and the tweakers go on this may help but big companies should have the resources. They probably give a shit as long profits and not all experience this ugliness.

I do not have a way to reflash the correct SPD on the Delta sticks. It seems Thaiphoon Burner does not work on DDR5 and the firmware does not have an option to enable SPD write. I do not know if that is an MSI BIOS thing or if Z690 and/or DDR5 are the reason for that. If I could, there is nothing wrong that I can see with the actual memory modules. They work fine with manual settings other than the 1.435V cap that the SPD corruption introduced. I wish I knew of a way to reprogram them. It was super easy using Thaiphoon Burner on DDR3 and DDR4.
Maybe have a chat with the Thaiphoon Burner author. This mess can't continue. This is more as a ticking bomb. Yep, if you have the money you can fix it but it (buy a second mem kit) and it take alot of your time. Shouldnt be like that. God bless the AM% buyers. Maybe they should buy a spare mem kit? I don't see they have much other options.

A60 is stable, but I am not sure yet what benefit, if any, there is on memory because those were different modules. The ones that the BIOS flash corrupted are TeamGroup Delta 6200 sticks and the new ones are Corsair Vengeance 6400. I was able to finally get the Delta 6200 to boot and bench at 7000, but not without a lot of fuss and much higher voltage, and not error-free. These Vengeance modules seem a lot more stable and use less voltage.
Just for shiggles I may flash A30 to the second BIOS and see if there is any identifiable difference. If these new sticks struggle with 7000 on A30 then we can maybe say A60 is better. If it behaves the same then it will remain a mystery what "compatibility" was enhanced. It may have been something they did to improve results for modules using Samsung or Micron ICs since those have been kind of crummy to deal with on DDR5. Only SK Hynix has/had been decent.
Can yuu reflash the correct values (corrupted) for for you screwed up mem sticks? What MSI did with he bios update is disgusting.

I even avoid old AMD cards. And I follow same pattern for new cards🙂
I was very close to grab a 780 Lightning card in a complete pc for a very good price. Not everyday we see such cards here home. Oh'well can't have good luck every time. I can just keep on with the old before my new Zotac cards come to papa. I made a custom vbios that worked better than the stock firmware for the GTX 670. I'm not the big firmware modder but at least it worked out well for a few benchmarks. I got near 18000 more points in Aquamark🙂 Not so bad with an air cooled card. 1th and 2nd place is out of reach due they use LN2 but 3rd is better than 4th or 5th. I guess everything is better than last, LOOL
