That's how it usually goes. Larger companies lay off entire teams responsible for the inner workings in the name of greedy stakeholders.  Something screws up and said team no longer fixes said problem.  Said team goes and gets hired by a better company who actually cares about their employees.  Said team has a much better life as a result.

I keep telling MrsKojack this. She works for the government and every few years there's rumblings about layoffs.  I tell her it's the best thing that will ever happen to you.

Sandy....did you find a better employer after?

Well, in my case it wasn't due to the greedy stakeholders - it was a non-profit.  Acted like the most short-term-focused publicly-traded company though.

It took a while, in part because I wasn't willing to go work for the companies known for having the worst work-life balance in the area, but I did recently find a new job.  It's in a new area, and I'm in the process of relocating currently, but am optimistic about it.  It's in a very stable industry, has been around and in the same location for more than 150 years, and so far everyone has had good things to say about the company.  I'm also kind of looking forward to being in a new city, I'd been in the same metro area for most of my adult life and having somewhere new to explore might be just the spice that I need to make the non-vacation parts of my life more interesting again.

That's great.  Enjoy the new chapter in your life.  We are working hard on getting our own stuff up and running, plus home renovations so hopefully by next year this time we can just say EFF it to being employed by others and move to completely home/remote based self employment.  We can travel then when we want, how we want and not be on an employer schedule telling us when we can or cant go somewhere.

Looks like the Orwellian nighmare our brothers are dealing with in UK's government is angling toward overstepping jurisdictional authority and looking to work its wicked ways into American life. These creepy clowns are insane. I hope the people of UK can remove their facist government before it is too late.

WTF? To do the same on our two Hondas, all you have to do is pull the glovebox past its normal stopping point, which is easily done by pinching the sides to release the tabs; unclip the air filter retention plate, again easy as it's just two pinch clips; remove and replace the filter; reverse the previous steps and Bob's your uncle.

When I had my 2020 GMC Terrain, replacing the engine and cabin air filters was also a pain. The conspiracy theorist in me says this is being done intentionally by General Motors because they want you to pay inflated dealer prices for routine maintenance items.

If people wants more suffering then they'll get what they voted for again, Unfortunately we'll suffer too once again.

Speaking of that finances is causing problems in my relationship, We're forced to make serious cutbacks because the cost of living/economy sucks right now. Had to put most of our plans on hold and dont want to run our credit cards to the Max to buy things to get by. Been working OT even though my current job is trying their hardest to cut it among other problems. My current side hustle has slowed down lately that its not as profitable anymore, Its been pretty stressful but other people are going through worse things

About six months ago, Comcast came out and replaced some of the old wiring that was running from the outside box to our house. Unfortunately, they didn't bury the cable underground far enough so the crew who was aerating our lawn yesterday sliced the main cable. As such, we're without TV or Internet access so I'll be spending until at least tomorrow afternoon hot-spotting through my phone.

I find it difficult to identify any politician or media  source that I like, or consider good or honest. I think that most are unworthy of trust, motivated by an agenda, panderers to special interests, rather than motivated to do the right thing for their constituents. I consider myself to be a conservative American with traditional family values, not a Republican or Demoncrat. When it comes to choosing how to vote it is generally reduced to identifying the lesser evil and choosing the option that is least likely to screw things up worse than they already are. It never has anything to do with the person I am voting for or whether I like them. Chances are pretty slim that I do. That's unfortunate, but it is the reality we are faced with. It's getting easier to choose only because the options are polarized and diametrically opposed extremes... one extremely corrupt and the other less screwed up, but neither one a great option. There is no longer such a thing as middle-ground or moderate. Principles don't matter enough. So, voting is basically an essential and critically important form of damage control.

Took two weeks off for vacation more or less for rest as I was having all kinds of problems from physical to mental and already dreading going back with the usual depression, anxiety, with a bit of anger to top it all off. Tired of the office politics while having to do the work or two or three people never mind everything else. As for management they're nothing more than just blow up dolls for corporate that for what little they do are overcompensated never mind the bonuses.
