I did not, I downloaded a chrome OS and a Linux one but chicken'd out. I can't do much with my memory. I basically have young mans dementia/not joking. I could try and see how fluid it is for me. but im just glad to be using windows 10 once again. im going to fiddle with windows 10 for a bit then eventually, when I get my ram and ssd in a few weeks ill use a quad boot.  Chrome/windows 11/windows 10/ and linux(zorin).

i'm just hesitant. no idea how smoothly the install will go, at least for chrome it will be laborious. many steps and like I say my memory is now shot.

was thinking about the nuc..partition 256gbx4 and do that on the nuc.

I've played around with ChromeOS a bit just out curiosity and I can't identify a good reason to use it. I mean, if you had a Chromebook that is super anemic, like a smartphone, it might make sense on that kind of device. But, it offers nothing compelling or special. While it was an interesting experiment, in hindsight I wouldn't waste the time or disk space on it based on my previous tinkering. If you decide to go ahead play with it to satisfy your own curiosity, be sure you first physically remove all other drives and give ChromeOS full reign of the drive you plan to use it on. It installs many partitions and has potential to cause a plethora of issues with other OSes and their bootloaders if if you leave their drives installed when you install ChromeOS. It dees not play nice during installation on a multi-boot setup. I think you can reinstall the other drives after ChromeOS is installed.

It is always best to use that approach on any multi-boot system. Install an OS on a drive with all other drives removed, make a Macrium Reflect image of it, take it out, install the next drive and OS, make a Macrium Reflect image, lather, rinse, repeat. Once you have finished installing OSes, go ahead and put all of the drives in the system and use the BIOS boot menu to select the one you want to run.

CableMod didn't dare any longer sell their angled adapters. The fallback would be too big. If you want to be their guinea pig again, you'll get $39.90/39.90€ store credit for your old CM adapter. This way you can try their new angled adapter v1.1  when it launch 6-8 weeks from now. Up to you now @Mr. Fox @electrosoft if you want to really try out the org adapter the last time until the new adapters is out in the store😁 Yep, a huge chance to play the Nvidia silicon lottery again. Isn't that nice?🙃

After work today I jumped in my car to run to the convenience store. As I'm driving down the road and waiting for the AC to cool things down, I'm thinking to myself... my goodness it is so stinking hot. I looked at the thermometer and guess what? It is hot LOL.

woah now that is hot. we are supposed to be around 102.2 f on sunday, but yeah 119f thats too hot, I wouldn't like that.

In lytton BC up here way way up north it hit like 48c maybe a few degrees more, and set a record. could this just be a weather pattern in the sense its likely happened hundreds of years ago or is it because of global warming due to carbon emmisions. I was anti global warming thought it was a load of horse dung. but now yeah. not much to say

id like to add this...from 1913

The hottest temperature ever recorded was 134 degrees (56.67 degrees Celsius) in July 1913 at Furnace Creek, said Randy Ceverny of the World Meteorological Organization, the body recognized as keeper of world records.

Can humans survive 120 degree weather?

It could be fatal. It is commonly held that the maximum temperature at which humans can survive is 108.14-degree Fahrenheit or 42.3-degree Celsius. A higher temperature may denature proteins and cause irreparable damage to brain. Simply put, the human body can turn into a scrambled egg.Jul 2, 2021

You should still be. It's a crock and a hoax. Climate change is real, but man-made climate change is not. There was an ice age and there was a great flood. There used to be dinosaurs and now they're all dead. The planet changes and there is nothing we can do to change it. We shouldn't pollute the air we breathe or poop in the water we drink, but the earth is changing and there ain't a damn thing we are doing to cause it and nothing we can do to stop it.

Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we will die.

yeah your probably right, I heard we were due for another ice age. it's just alot of people are talking about global warming....makes you second guess your own thoughts. one thing..when the earth was covered in lava and had a surface of mainly volcanos..what happened? did life cease to exist//that fact im typing this is proof...it will always have cycles. untill of course the sun engulfs earth and the other planets and goes super nova..

If you don't like Windoze 10 or Winduhz 11, you have to resort to third-party stuff that the Redmond Reprobates try to interfere with. If you don't like your Linux desktop look and feel, you simply change it to something you do like. Imagine being able to run a command to change Windows 10 to Windows 7, or flip it back whenever you feel like it.

Don't like Zorin OS desktop? Install Cinnamon. Don't like Cinnamon? Install Mate. Or something else. Or, just modify things yourself. It's easier to fix the garbage you don't like about Linux than it is to fix what you don't like about Winderz.

ZorinOS default UI. Clean and pretty.

ZorinOS.png

ZorinOS after running the command to install Cinnamon... Clean and pretty. Nothing needs to be reinstalled.
Zorin-OS-with-Cinnamon.png

Want to go back? Click on the gear icon before entering your password on the login screen and select Zorin. Tomorrow, click the gear and go back to something else. Have it your way... like BK. Easy-peasy. It all works.

I vaguely remember, but back when I hacked wifi. the only way to do it was through linux i think it was called backpack or backtrack can't remember but yeah I ended up hacking my neigbours internet on windows just for education lol..but yeah linux has always been ahead of the curve for as long as I remember, but honestly I have yet to try it, I have no idea why I keep stalling. ill give it a go in a bit..

just looked it up man I forgot alot of things..suprised I remember my birth date..it was called backtrack and the method was arp spoofing...packet injection was my thing....modifying a arp packet to use for injection....its funny cause i was the first and people still don't know how i did it..believe it or not but 1 packet can be cloned into billions of arp packet in minutes allowing for anything from anyone to be penetrated even without the target. im not interested in that sort of thing anymore and if i continued on with it id probably be rich at the start and broke and rotting behind bars later..most of the best get caught..very rarely do people stop and change. for me it was mental illness causing the withdrawl from society and my old mode of thinking..now i sit at my computer like a veg.

I don't think this talk is inappropriate as its vague..

Congrats on the GPU  little brother.

Be sure to investigate performance between OSes. For some reason that affects my 6900 XT a whole lot more, and in a more exaggerated manner, than it did the 3090 or than it does the 4090. GPU benchmarks scores across the board are more than a little bit lower on Windows 11 using the 6900 XT versus Windows 10. I am not sure why it is so different with the AMD GPU, but I wasted way too much time trying to figure it out. My 6900 XT hates Windows 11 as much as I do.

State of the SFF :

I had to abandon the EVGA CLC 280 as the tubes from the top made it so tight in the Hyte R3 with  bending the flow was compromised and the system was shooting to 99 and overheating even sitting in the bios. Found out MSI immediately sets all CPU settings back to auto/low when this happens when your system goes past your CPU temp limit set.

I had an ID Cooling Frostflow x 280mm AIO $55 special sitting in the closet sealed and it checked enough of the boxes especially not having all types of "breakout" BS like Corsair and NZXT. I wanted to use a Kraken but having to use the CAM software to control everything and all the extra cabling. I wanted a minimal AIO and ID cooling is it. Fans run independently and the pump connects directly to the MB. Tubes are short and pump head is smaller and ergonomic. I swapped out the stock fans for Arctic P12s same as used on the CLC 280. ID runs about 4-6c warmer under CB23 (~80c) full tilt 5.6/4.3 on a $60 bargin bin AIO + Gelid Extreme with compromised air flow with no delid or heroic measures.

I'm not doing backflips over this case and having worked with the N200R and now Hyte R3, I am not a fan of AIOs mounting directly over the motherboard in this side fashion. I wish Cool Master offered their N200R Max case with no AIO or PSU in the same price range as the N200R doesn't have space up for an AIO.

I did pick up one of these to explore from Cougar. It looks like it checks all the boxes and then some for a portable ITX build.

I found a show floor model on eBay for a substantial discount and upgraded to Noctua fans for $42 ($67 w/ shipping)

6700XT arrived early as I was finishing up the test build so I'll pop that in later but now I'm going to shift back to the NH55 to re-dial in the relidded 12900k in there.

That's pretty cool looking. Would be nice to have something similar in a full tower E-ATX design.

What is the black case with the silver handle sitting on your desk next to the GPU box? It looks like a chimney design case, unless it is not in its normal orientation. I wasn't able to zoom in on the photo for a closer look at it.

Yeah the Cougar really caught my eye especially the traditional top mount ability for an AIO and the handles and sturdiness. It should be here Thursday. I call it a $67 itch to scratch.

That's the Hyte Revolt 3 without the front and side panels on while I run it through its paces before installing the GPU

I picked it up w/ PSU for $125 from Amazon when I sent back the N200R.

Ah, it must have been the straight-on view that made it hard to identify the Revolt.

Yeah, for $67 that Cougar case looks like a real value. The industrial look with the handles is nice. If it is as build-friendly as it seems on the surface it should be real sweet. Sometimes the best products don't get looked at as closely as they deserve to be.

Edit: @electrosoftI just noticed the eBay listing on the Cougar case has a hilarious typo "dessert" instead of desert. 🤣

From todays tech world.... And as usual new has to be better. And probably more expensive....

Not everyday you get smart comments/good recommandations from PCWorld's editors...

You can now buy Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, but you probably shouldn’t
With the same limited bus issues as the original, this more expensive card with a $500 price tag still isn't a very good value.

The 16GB Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti is one of the most cynical graphics cards ever, and I'm kinda here for it

4060Ti worth it...? Hell nope.

The crippled $500 mem bus disaster Nvidia never wanted to release.....

NVIDIA launches GeForce RTX 4060 Ti with 16GB without review coverage

And Intel continue milk the way they did with Skylake......... According to the report, Intel will increase clocks across the K-series SKUs by 200 MHz.

12900K>12900KS>13900K>13900KS>14900K>>>14900KS with a minor changes for the last milking (14th gen)..

Intel 14th Gen Core K-series Specs Leaked

And it's more from Intel... It's seems Intel try fix their own screw up from 12th, 13th and 14th Intel platform... Be prepered to trash your very expensive cooler (150-225$) in the trash-bin. EK know how to do it. Proprietary WB cooler design the way Mr. Azor from Dell Alienware advocated for. Screw you, you stupid consumers. You get what you deserve.

In thit case, it will be the second time in four years that Intel makes a change that requires cooler adjustments. Prior to that, the mounting devices have only been changed a few times and at intervals of significantly more years.

The problem can be remedied with special mounting frames and the specifications touch on the subject, but do not provide concrete guidelines for radiator manufacturers to follow. A much more concrete change is visible, however, in terms of the maximum limit for dynamic pressure, which sees an increase from 489.5 N to 923 N.

This means a requirement for higher pressure from the processor cooler and with such a large difference, the risk is that existing coolers cannot currently be mounted adequately. Since the fit is otherwise the same, new mounting devices can be a sufficient solution to the problem, to be able to reuse existing coolers on the market. According to Igor's Lab, Intel has already sent out information to cooler manufacturers, so that they can prepare for the imminent launch.

Intel's next processor socket requires new heatsink mounting hardware

With the Core 15000 "Arrow Lake", the new socket LGA 1851 is relevant. On the menu is PCI Express 5.0 for storage and potentially new mounts for coolers.

Edit....

I expect JonnyGuru can come up with some numbers 🙂 He should be the one that can answer my humble question:)

For @Rage Set Yep, old Papusan have always warned about the 12VHPWR angled adapters. 1+1 will always be 2. Not 3 as some think.

Not many adaters popped up as melted right after the launch of first gen CM angled adapers. But now they are popping up here and there. Often 3 or 4 in a row.

Yep, huge changes also for the new coming CM cables with the angled 12VHPWR connector.

The almost nail in the DDR4 coffin vs DDR5...

My last sets of DDR4 was for a few budget boards but with ~7600+ DDR5 there is no scenario where you should be considering DDR4 especially as prices continue to fall.
