Now if you really want to be a proper MSI shill like myself, get an MSI 4070 Super and your journey to the dark side will be complete.  🤣

nvidia have understood the value with "all black". Worse with their AIC partners that prefer design all the cards more and more for the gamer kids. I really like the idea with all black design. Just sad Nvidia don't offer the best cooling and a single vbios.

Dad gum. Looks like PNY is about as shifty as ASUS. This really sucks. Totally dishonest. At least is was such as easy fix (no actual damage). It shows how lame the RMA centers are. They didn't even look at what was wrong, just looked for a way to deny warranty. Bastards.

It was too long ago to recall with absolute certainty, but I believe it was the TF5 and Eurocom secured it so @Prema could get the BIOS mod ready. But, it was long enough that I could be totally wrong or mistaken about which system it was. It may have been the P870DM. Whichever it was, it was provided for that purpose and I did not purchase it for my own use. It was when 8700K landed that I shifted my interest to desktop. I could not buy one anywhere and eventually gave up trying to (after several months) and ordered a prebuilt from iBuyPower so I could have an 8700K. OEMs/System Builders was the only way to buy one for like 6 months if memory serves me correctly.

I remember that bit from you, you really wanted an 8700K and they were just evaporating off shelves. Was such a good chip at the time, superior in functionality to its replacement the 9700K too.

I've heard some not good things about 15th Gen. If any of the scuttlebutt is true, it might be a downgrade. I'm not sure how much is true at this point. It would be disappointing to wait for 15th Gen only to find out you'd have a stronger performer with a 13th or 14th Gen CPU. Reminds me a bit of 11th Gen. Made no sense for it to even exist. I guess we will all find out together.

I think I know what you're talking about, I heard that they wanted to shove processes all to E-cores before deciding if it's necessary to use a P-core, but I also heard that design was only for the low power chips for laptops somewhere on the grapevine.

What I don't know, however, is where they're putting their 3D cache chips. At first I heard it was 14th gen and then that failed, then I heard it was 15th gen and then I heard 15th gen was mobile only (for the reasons mentioned above), so it might be 16th gen? Either way, when they produce the 3D cache, e-core-using systems I'll be over the moon. Especially if by that time their optimized driver software that they released with 14th gen chips is more mature as well. I have no idea how AMD would compete with that, and why intel doesn't just hurry up and release it asap.

For all the people here who've purchased a GPU on launch day online, do you have any tips or useful information? I really want to be sure I can get a 4070 Super the day it comes out. My assumption is to have Amazon, BB, and Newegg open and just try to add one to my cart and pay for it ASAP.  I've never made a day one purchase like this, and would like to avoid waiting for a restock.

You may have a ok chance to get the 4070 Super at launch day.

Could be Nvidia prefer that the 4090's going into data centers @Mr. Fox

That's why I'm hesitant to make the move to Intel this go-round. I've gotten pretty used to the near-silence with which my MacBook Pro operates. I also spent a lot of time tuning the fans on my current desktop to a point where their acoustics are consistent no matter what I'm doing. Load temps are almost certainly a bit higher than other AIO-cooled 5950X machines, but I'm not dealing with the fans ramping up and down.

I'm thinking now about swapping the 5950X for a 5800X3D and using that until AMD does a 3D V-cache version of Zen 5.

It just depends on the intended use and whether you enjoy tinkering and tuning Intel CPUs. If it’s just gaming and light productivity then likely no need to worry about thermals and little to no tuning would be needed. As for heavy workloads, good luck: the heat flux over the 13900K die at stock full load is said to exceed that of a Bunsen burner lol Then again, this inefficiency can be optimised away. derBauer has an OK video on that.

The 4070 Ti Super really should have been $749 to give it more separation from the 4080 Super. I mean, if you have the cash for the former at $799, it's really not that much of a stretch to upgrade to the latter. This leaves me in a bit of pickle for my upcoming desktop upgrade. Not that there's anything wrong with my 5950X, I just want something better for gaming since my MacBook is now doing the heavy lifting I need for work.

I had purchased a Radeon 6500 XT for like $100 open box from Best Buy to use as a stopgap until I get the new PC, but I still feel like I got ripped off. It's funny because HUB just did a video showing how that GPU has aged like milk. I was still able to return it and grabbed an open box RTX 4060 for $230 instead. That will also have the upside of making the entire system easier to sell when the time inevitably comes.

I'm leaning toward socket AM5 for the new build, but I almost feel like I should wait for Intel 15th-gen. I'm not sure I can hold out that long, though LOL.

The 14900K's thermals have me very concerned as I'm hoping to get something that provides good performance without being overly loud or requiring a stupid level of cooling. Perhaps a 13900K and an RTX 4080 purchased on sale/clearance would make more sense. I also wouldn't mind going with something like a Ryzen 7 7700 with its 65W TDP as that could easily be managed with a 240mm AIO and the fans on a low setting. Though pairing it with a higher-end GPU may not be the best idea. I don't know. Will have to see how the market shakes out over the coming weeks.

aaah, the back and forth of a new build / upgrade 😄 the 5800X3D would be a nice stopgap, comparable to a 7700X in terms of gaming performance. If youre out for platform longevity, going either with AM5 or waiting for 15th gern makes total sense. Depends on how urgently u need the upgrade / new system. If power efficiency is important to you then AM5 it is, maybe paired with either a 7800X3D or a 7950X3D, especially if you dont plan on doing any wild overclocking. As for Intel 15th gen, probably a bit early to tell, current release is pegged for end of 2024. Zen 5 will likely be a bit earlier than that, maybe late summer/early fall? In any case, both new platforms should arrive sometime this year 🙂

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti officially reach End-of-Life

NVIDIA has officially communicated to the press as confirmed above by Andreas Schilling (HardwareLuxx) that both models are reaching their end of life (EOL). This confirms previous rumors, as the slow sales and insufficient supply of new cards in the market hinted at this development.

Nice. $799 USD 4070 Ti had a very short life. And the 4070 Ti was meant to be Nvidia's $899 4080 Light, LOOL

The 4070 TI is Nvidia's Biggest SCAM ever aka 4080 12 GB

Existing and near-future owners of these EOL RTX 40 series graphics cards will still get driver support.... Isn't that fantastic news for the scammed/screwed?🤐

It's darn impressive to see AMD releasing "new" CPUs for AM4 even this many years after Ryzen first went mainstream. Platform longevity is not a major consideration as much as wanting whatever I get to be as current as possible at the time of purchase. That's why I think it would be more prudent to use an AM4 X3D processor as a bridge until Zen 5 and 15th-gen are released.

It was actually my original plan when I first bought in with the 2700x/x570 board. Hold the board until what ever chip was the last for the platform and just sit on it for a few years. That was in 2019 and I only recently got the 5800X3D when it dropped to 275. It keeps my 3090 fed pretty darn well so far. Probably only Sons of the Forest is where I notice CPU/GPU not being fully taxed, likely others as well but that was the worst offender thus far.

Had I thought more about doing this back then I would have jumped on the 5800X3D. Unfortunately, the announcement of the 5700X3D will likely keep upward price pressure on the more powerful chip so I don't expect it to fall back to $275 any time soon. Heck, I may even just grab the 5700X3D since it's not going to be a long-term thing.

No kidding, it looks good. I may give it a try on my other bios switch. I always heard it was good. I’m still using 1501.

I got this profile reboot stable, with fast boot enabled for the IMC. So, quick boot up, no training. And it’s stable at any given day/time of the week. That seems to be a difficult task with these c34/c36 profiles.

Maybe the same as for the Apex Encore. A bios orginally meant for the LN2 clockers. See link below.

The big improvement on Encore bios 0070 and 0071 doesn't apply to most of us.

I'm sick of all innovation to the worse. Please stop this madness. Asus is competing with Dell and Apple it seems. Making tomorows tech less appealing for every new day. Yup, Asus can be the Windows worlds Apple company. They even beating Dell in stupidity nowadays. And here you can see Asus going into the cablemod trap to make the BTF cards work with the smaller itx boards.

Where did you find 0071 for the Encore? I did not see it at HWBOT, only 0071 for Apex and 0080 for Encore.

From the new disgusting forum from Asus. Made for (gamer) kids. Probably the worst forum UI I have ever seen. Both the functionality and the tacky theme is awful.

Thank you. Testing 0071 for the Encore now. If it is older microcode and older Intel ME it should be better.

You're welcome 🙂 Same ME as from beta 0070 and upwards. Aka the latest and greatest.

Maybe Intel improve from their stupidity... Intel APO Coming to 12th Gen and 13th Gen Core Processors After All?

Got it flashed and my 8600 memory overclock is not 100% stable with 0071. I will have to play with the settings to find out why. It boots and benching fines, but has errors in TM5 I was not having with 0080.

Could be they have improved with 0080 and even the latest release bios. All from beta 0070 and newer have same ME. I think newest versions is more aimed (improved) to +48GB mem kits.

When you are at it could you please check out current MC version added for all tested bios versions.

More about modern tech trash!!!!

Also here you can see what's wrong with modern tech. Why force people to use bloatware? This is disgusting. And this messed up tech shouldve never have been released in it's state.

Test: Corsair 7000D AirFlow case and iCUE Link loop

Attention, important remark and which we found a bit of a shame, by default, the pump does not run at its maximum speed. You might have the impression that it is struggling, but don't panic, once in the OS, you can modify its speed via the Corsair software.

Hmmm..... Is this a joke or scam? Could of course be a liar or that he simply didn't understand the trade rules/offer. Regardless... This is awful if correct.

WTH is this? Whom want this in their pc builds? It looks like an mirror with all needed parts and screws taken from a big truck🤯

Maybe the situation is different in China. Everyone want a card and they have problem find 4090's. Gamers is probably happy with the rest of the overpriced SKU line. If they can't find any 4090's they will go for the 4080.

From Norway's biggest tech retail store. See the box marked in orange on top...

Translated to.... At the present time, there is considerable uncertainty related to the availability of the 4090. Extra delivery time may occur when ordering cards that are not in stock or have a confirmed date.

Yup, nvidia don't want to sell gamer cards from AD102 for now. But the retail here in Norway have a huge flood with the 4080's. Yup, there is still a big chance to purchase nvidia graphics from latest gen. This if you prefer to pay an huge overprice for EOL cards. Where will they go when the 4080 Super is ready to be sent out from the stores?

So todays golden question for you will be... Will Intel do the same for 12th and 13th gen Cpu's as they did for the 14th gen? Aka only offer the APO feature for xx700 and xx900 SKUs ? This means you are out of luck if you still have the 13600K as I can see in your sig. This mean one step forward and two steps backwards for some of you. Hope that won't be the case. Sad if Intel trash down own i5 products.
