I’ll be grabbing a used 4090, or probably a RTX5080 I guess they’ll still be like $1500 lol.😂

Seriously, if that is the pricing I will just extend my 4090  from 2+ years (when I would buy a 5090 in ~January 2025 having bought my 4090 in January 2023) to well past that and be content. It's not like it isn't holding it down in WoW and Fallout 76. At 4k, the 4090 still isn't fully saturated yet due to the CPU. Same even moreso with Fallout 76.

I literally have 5 laptops on the shelf so I'm not sure where I'm going there.

Absolute end game for me with this Alienware 3225QF. It is just a monster.

Going to wait for 9950X3D so that means nothing till next year (Unless Intel surprises us and drops the bunker buster).

I starting to think the NH55 can support the 13th or 14th gen and may hit the same wall as the X170SM-G that can't do 11th gen.

I'm not sure what's going to fill my tech toys itch during the next year or so. 🤣

@Raiderman posted something about this and I missed it, but check this out. It is not a Windows 7 theme. It actually replaced the Windows 11 GUI and numerous elements with Windows 7. This is Windows 11 so I will call it "7-11", no offense to Southland Corporation and their respectable convenience store chain. It even restored the Windows 7 Media Center. System resources are respectable, too.

There is also a Vista GUI option.

Edit: It DID NOT hurt system resources. If anything it helped. Windows 10/11 are usually horrible at wprime 32M. Look @Papusan this is much closer to Windows 7 than Windows 10/11 typically are.

This one I posted on OCN will be fun to follow. If you are in risk for 4080 vram corrupted benchmarks results and you can't "Enable ECC" in NCP for said graphics card, then why do you need have to do it for 4090 on hwbot? Because the elite/choosen ones for the most part get free binned 4090's to maximice their Global points?

15 hours ago, Papusan said:

Even if there is less corrupted results from the other 4000 series cards as etc 4080... You can't force limitations (own rules and special restictions) for 4090 if they all suffer from same mess from UL/Futuremark. ECC settings only for 4090 in NCP isn't a valid reason to diffrenciate them.

15 hours ago, Mr. Fox said:

Yup. Everyone should just buy only new Arc GPUs, or used RX 500 and 6000 AMD and NVIDIA 3000 series GPUs or use integrated graphics and stick with 1080p gaming and see how the hardware vendors and game developers feel about that.

image.png

So, the HWBOT solution here is to create a handicap and require 4090 owners to deliberately cripple their flagship product and allow owners of the lesser products to get away with following a different set of rules. Basically.

Everyone gets a trophy for participating.

Confirmed. All 4000 series graphics cards offer corrupted results if you push your vram. But only the  4090 flagship get the special treatment from Hwbot.... Most likely because this card provide highest global scores and offer ECC settings Enabled in NCP that offer people corrupted cards. Nice.

Bugged scores have always been possible. Same for CPU, especially from Winduhz 8 forward with the messed up RTC. But, making RTX 4090 owners damage the memory on their most expensive GPUs in order to submit valid results is just downright idiotic. Bugged scores are normal. Why suddenly it is a problem only for the owners of 4090? Because the HWBOT golden boys don't like their predestined path to victory being challenged by pions that haven't been anointed, that's why.

We know there is a fix. But +95% of the users don't know that they are at the risk getting halfbroken cards back when they try grab points on Hwbot with 4090. There will always be new newbies coming to hwbot. And I know there is people having problems with weird crashes after their cards is filled up with vram errors. Oh'well. Happy those that get free binned hardware.

And all problems just follow samepath as the tech trend. And it willbe worse. Much worse.

And here you can see AMD really show it's ugly face... Want oc'ing. Buy better board.

Changes are also coming to the mid-range segment. The B650E and B650 chipsets will be replaced by the B850 and B840, respectively. This marks the introduction of the X40 class in the AMD portfolio, using a different chipset (Prom19) compared to the higher-tier boards. The main difference between the B850 and B840 is that the B840 will not support CPU overclocking.

See @ryanNew has to be better. Replaced = Newer.

Repulsive. 🤢 But, the gamerboyz are happy with X3D CPUs that are not great at overclocking, already do not have unlocked core ratios and have lower TDP than their non-X3D counterparts. If the CPU doesn't overclock well and the user isn't interested, probably no point in wasting money on a motherboard that supports it.  So, I guess it's all good drinking from the no-overclocking gamer cesspool as long as it has RGB rainbow puke onboard. Maybe they'll go a step further and make it even easier for the kiddos by making it BGA trash with a soldered CPU. If it not overclockable, then may as well include the RAM, too. Add $5.00 for the extra solder.

I had the top score for the 4070 Super, until someone came along and submitted a very obviously bugged score (+12% at similar clocks/power limit/temps ya riiiggghhtt). Luckily it seems they're doing their job over there, someone noticed and removed that bugged result. Luckily we now have a very easy tool to see the bugged results and can submit them for review as well.

I heavily considering buying an AM5 rig with this new gen and then an Arrow Lake setup when they drop this fall. I sort of want to compare the 2 rigs and get some real first hand experience and hands on tuning with them. Unfortunately I have a feeling I'll be super disappointed but I'd love to make some comparison content with them.

That is a pretty impressive score for a laptop CPU.

I know exactly what you are describing. I was super excited about the X570 and 5950X and I was just devastated when it turned out to be such an expensive disappointment. It was a costly lesson for me, but had I not done it I would have always wondered if my mind could be changed. Now I know it can't be and I don't have to wonder. I avoid using the word "never" to leave my options open, but I remain extremely doubtful and biased because I don't like being disappointed, especially when money is involved.

Does 4090 laptop GPU have ECC enable/disable option in NVIDIA Control Panel? Lots of controversy about that on desktop 4090. Desktop 4090 owners are being held to a different standard than all other GPU owners because the goons at NVIDIA enabled that stupid option.

I routinely have both platforms going over here at "House Electrosoft" at one time or another.

When Intel drops their new chips this fall, if I like what I see, I'll end up picking up one of them to slap in my workbench/test case for funsies. Kinda like what I did when I was running my 5800x and scooped up an 11700k and MB to see what it was all about (and eventually 11900k).

The only chip it looks like I'm going to skip from intel is 14th gen and that's because I can't stomach paying more than $600 even for a binned chip for what is really a glorified 13900ks which I had before and was a fantastic specimen. I passed on an SP108 14900KS that was actually decent for $800 because it just wasn't worth it to me at this point. I haven't skipped an Intel chip since the original Core when I was on AMD FX-60.

nice scores, impressive. I had a 4080 and have the highest firestrike gpu score as for steel nomad I have no idea how you managed 7100 thats a good 30 percent higher than what i would have scored with the 4080 mobile. I would have kept the laptop if the 13th gen i9 was tweakable. ended up getting a Hiboy p6 electic bike....pretty fun gets me out of the house and away from the computers(evil)

Since I skipped the 40 series...., I'll be in line for a 5090 (I've been saving for it). It will be my luck that I pick up a 5090 and they introduce a 5090 TI/Super later. I will be picking up the next ARC GPU, because they are fantastic when it comes to compute in video editing.

I'll go back to AMD if/when they develop another high-end GPU.

A lot of things are goofed up on mobile platform with the forum. Do you have a yellow thumbs up icon in the lower right corner of a post you are looking at? That's what you top on.

System Info just got an update with CPU utilization graph:

https://benchmarks.ul.com/downloads/systeminfo/latest

If you are using the default theme the white hand in the bottom right hand of a post is basically not viewable. Its a goof of the forum software in my honest opinion.

I did not realize that since I find the eyeball-searing white web page themes so repulsive. With a bright monitor white browser themes are enough to make a dark room seem as bright as daylight, not to mention giving me a skull-splitting headache, LOL. I always choose a dark theme whenever one is available.

Edit: It DID NOT hurt system resources. If anything it helped. Windows 10/11 are usually horrible at wprime 32M. Look @Papusan this is much closer to Windows 7 than Windows 10/11 typically are.

The Windows 10 version of Win-X Lite is even better. Very close to Windows 7 wPrime 32m CPU performance.

It was a feature that I didnt even have to request, as Hiew is of the same thought process. We did toy with a couple of other themes and just kind of stuck with the 2-3 up til now.

In other news, I have put in my notice with work. Lets just say things spiraled into an untenable scenario that was wildly outside of what could be justified under the current wage. While I will be acquiring a skill or two in the interim to update my resume between employment, I will have the time needed to work on a few things here that have long been on my mind.

I trust that it will end well and with a  positive outcome that surpasses what would be possible had you remained in the status qol

Glad to see ya, stranger. Great scores! Hoping to get close to 8000 in the cartoon steel nomad, if I can find some time to flash my vbios.
