Jufes is spot on about all of it, including the delid and bare die thing. I don't allow stock boosting crap on preferred cores, I lock everything down and run bare die. My voltage is where I set it and the heat gets removed right away. No insane voltage spikes and no cooked cores running wild with the package running within Intel power limits. No degradation and no instability. Everything under control. No spastic TVB behavior, no ASUS AI CPU-killing nonsense and no obsession with stupid single-core or two-core idiot overclocking.

He is right on the AMD stuff, too. For exactly the same reasons. X3D chips control the voltage and lock the cores and don't allow runaway cores with insane voltage spikes on the favored CCD cores. Interesting comment about AMD starting the nonsense with their stupid single-core PBO and suffering the same fate, then accidentally fixing their own mess with the X3D chips by locking them down.

The forum is back to being slow and unresponsive again. 😐

Isn’t that how you roll @Papusan ? You just run the chip you get? I do remember one seriously good 8700K though. But besides that one.

Yup. I use what I get in hands. I only returned the two KS because these are so called Special Edition. I don't want pay extra for nothing or for chips that barely should be branded K. If it was K pricing then thats another animal. I want what I pay for. Nothing more or less.

l have said the same several times in this thread. This stupidity need to stop. And I never run my chips at stock or with the fancy 2 core boost feature. All cores running same speed and with manuell override voltage. Have never used adaptive voltage and paired it with a couple of cores for peak burst boost performance. Thats for jokebooks(chips have lower max 1 core  boost at lower voltage. Hence they survive in laptops). Not desktops where you can have better cooling.

The 14900KS that I returned was the worst CPU I have ever owned. It was an absolute piece of garbage. SE meant "sucky edition" for that one. It was worse than the 5950X and I hated that CPU.

💯we have both always operated that way. It's the only way that I will do it. The gamerboy way with adaptive behavior sucks. It's pointless and you may as well just run it BIOS defaults. With the current way things work that will kill it.

Funny, but I have always done all core too as my baseline vs per core tuning. I always figured what it achieves in all core is going to be more than enough for non multicore workloads. It makes it easier to tune around it too and control transient spikes that can happen in especially 2-6ish core boost.

I absolutely refuse to use Asus AI/OC built in garbage. Everything was manually tuned. It was all over the map pulling all types of loads. Even testing the 14900KS on the Z690 Strix D4 briefly for verification, all that crap is turned off and just manual / default for that test to see it touch the sun before the Lightning comes in on what is now Wednesday instead of today (thanks UPS!)

I will bench single thread usually out of box to see what it has and then start working on all core.

I do remember dialing in my 5800X all core manually vs PBO and landing right around where PBO tended to land just more consistent. The cost was the loss of lesser core boosting.

I did tune my 7800X3D w/ PBO along with memory tuning. 7950X3D I tuned the memory but have pretty much left it alone as is for some reason. 🙂

@Papusan did yo end up getting a third KS or just stuck with your K? I wish I could cap the per core boosting in the BGA laptops I have laying around to my liking but BIOS is garbage as always. Every jokebook running Intel I have will boost to thermal failure as a feature.....yay.

Wish I could have found an open box, but seeing as Amazon doesn't really deal with Asrock anymore directly, that basically means none would appear on the Warehouse. 😞

Speaking of Jufes, he posits it is the 2 core preferred insane boosting and voltage slamming through the chips that is causing degradation:

I honestly don't pay attention to that dude.....

But i went hunting again and 2 tries another 8600 or better cpu,  can bench 8600 on tachyon x fine so 😉

His potty mouth and arrogance really rubs me the wrong way. I often find watching his videos to be annoying, but more often than not I think he is accurate and I frequently agree with him. It's just too bad his personality is like a bottle of acetone. I don't think I have seen a better example of a person being a legend in their own mind.

OK now, this might actually interest me. No E-cores and 12 P-cores is definitely a step in the right direction. Particularly so if I don't have to waste money on a new motherboard. I'm not keen on buying any new motherboards for at least another year or two... maybe three. Not worth it.

But, that only interests me if hyperthreading is included. 12 P-cores without hyperthreading is a non-starter. They can keep that crippled piece of crap if it is not hyperthreaded.

Agreed. After seeing this news I actually decided to pull the trigger on an open box Apex Encore at my local MC for $400. Says complete, I will likely go pick it up tomorrow afternoon since I had too much going on today. If LGA 1700 is getting another CPU with something interesting like this, I am likely going to hold onto this platform for awhile. Will be interesting to see what they base the core on. The above chart looks like BTL could be it's own new core, which hopefully includes some IPC gains and maybe some IMC/cache rework.

This is what I've been asking for since ADL launched. Chuck the E-cores and slap on at least two more P-cores and I'm good to go giving us at least a 10900k core count and non hybrid CPU.

I would snatch up a 12 core Socket 1700 CPU ASAP.

Hopefully that Encore has a good binning and was not returned due to craptastic memory OC.

I won't care about it if it turns out to be a 12 core/12 thread part. If it is not hyperthreaded It will be slower than 13900/14900K/KF/KS if only 12C/12T even if there is an IPC improvement. Will have to wait and see how it is made. It might be better for gaming, but I honestly don't care. I don't need it to be. What I have already is more than adequate for that.

New low from Asus. $500 for Keyboards. Or $300 more than a vanilla motherboard. Hmmm. Razer get stiff competition on how to rip money from gaming gears and stupid consumers. Add +25% for Norway and we see $625 USD for Gaming keyboard. Thats dang disgusting. Who said MB and gpus nowadays was overpriced?

I can't imagine a 12 core no HT part but with the state of Intel these days.

I'm still hoping AL surprises us all but while technically offering advanced architectures in the past, the 1st gen early versions were slower than their predecessors:

P4 regressed in performance vs P3 back in the day till it got its clocks going and surpassed it...

11900k had worse MT performance than 10900k but laid the groundwork for 12th gen...

We shall see.

ASUS ROG Unveils Azoth Extreme Gaming Keyboard With OLED Display For $499

Goes beyond disgusting. I am convinced they are literally insane. But, not as insane as someone that would spend that much on a keyboard. Not to mention the fact that it is 10 keys short of a legit keyboard. TKL is for small turdbooks.

The most I've spent on a keyboard is $250 about a year and a half ago. However, I've learned that what I purchased is a toy compared to the fully custom keyboards that a couple of my friends have. They have spent thousands on one or two keyboards. I can't laugh at them too hard, knowing how much I've spent on custom cooling parts and camera lenses.

Its a gaming keyboard. Not meant for professionals. Slap on the ROG logo and gamer kids going bananas 😄 I can see there is expensive KB out there. I get that but not this fancy Asus Gaming gear for massive premium. Why would I pay Asus motherboard prices for their gaming KB? And their ROG boards is already too expensive for my likings. This is not for me.

Microsoft entertainment keyboard back in the day was the most I ever spent. I think it was around $250, but that was 20 years ago money.

Energy efficiency over everything. Thats also the reason Intel now don't want HT for consumer chips. If you want to be the Single core performance king then you don't need HT. And you need to feed less voltage into the chips for hyper fast burst loads with a simple single core load. Maybe AL will have less crashes than Raptor due no more HT. So 1-2 cores boosting alone for peak is king, not HT, LOOL

In short.... Boost your best two cores to heaven to win the new modern game.

I really hate this move. Want offer minimal power consumption then offer another new crippled SKUs. This way everyone can have their needs fulfilled. But nope..  Everyone should and must have the same🤮 Exactly as jokebooks.

In truth, with this new generation, AMD seems to be betting on energy efficiency more than anything else. This is why the  CPU  TDP has dropped from one generation to the next , going from 105W for the 7700X to 65W for this 9700X.

I have no problems with pigs. They can serve me very well. I love burgers and Rib steak. Sad we need to show awesome with filthy🙂 I take that fat pig everyday over any filthy and greedy companies. The poo and puke emo fits better bro Fox. They have always.

Maybe I change if you part up that pig with pict pieces from every tech brand names😊 Maybe the pigs face could have the Asus brand printed. Or just add in Microsoft.

i wonder where I would put in Dell, HP, Razer or MSI logo on that pig. Hmmmm, very difficult bro @ryan

Older tech have still a good life if paired with correct parts....

The ising on the cake for the day....

The ultimate fix. Head over to Intel webpage. See Asus bios settings when existing the bios (very difficult easily post pict on this forum with an trashphone). So I refrain from that.

BIOS SETTINGS AT ASUS These are the new “default settings” for Intel Core i9 “K”

There is one thing that Asus does not rule out: the CPU is only allowed to consume 253 watts permanently. ComputerBase has also verified that this appears to be the case, although the high CPU temperatures on the test system only allowed consumption of just over 253 watts on average.

Fantastic. Yup, AMD know they could not fully cripple own flagship. They would be killed if so by own fans. But why do it for their lower SKUs if this is so damn important? Is less more? Why not do the same for this SKU? Because they wanted to cater to performance enthusiasts as the old fart @Mr. Fox and old @Papusan ? Im sick of all this. AMD should do the same for xx50X as well? @Rage Setready to puke? Or is as you the ssd jokeys drooling about 2*5th gen ssd more than enough to say halleluja? Puke evening. Or "oppkast kveld" in Norwegian. Edit "kveld" is evening in Norwegian .

Here's what important. Higher TOPS. Why ask for more? Will higher TOPS make your day better? More or Higher is better. Yup, todays 4 letters has to be...  P-U-K-E. Kveld(Google it). All should learn something every day. Hope you learned something br @ryan. Norwegian language (viking language) is sometimes harsh/hard to understand. Im good at both English and Norwegian. You read, and you learn. Im sure Fox learn from his wonderful wife. You need to be an viking to understand this rant. But Im 200% sure @Rage Set15000 km away from Norway see where I go. The world i so small. And trash i so close. Maybe you all have learned something today. I learn everyday. That s better than nothing. End of this rant. But more to come😁
