Jufus is guesstimating about 20-25% but we will see. Unfortunately DLSS is the future in regards to calculating performance and Jensen continues to blur the lines between raster/hardware fps and tensor/AI fps like they're one and the same and they most certainly are not. But if we get so a point (which I think is his goal) that DLSS can render just as well as traditional hardware rendering with no penalties, then who cares?

 

If the 5090 is at least 30% faster than the 5090, that's good enough for me as bad of a buy as it is for several reasons:

 

#1. I don't have a 4090 anymore. I am going to literally apply everything I sold my 4090 for and get a 5090.

#2. Price scaling is in line with performance scaling if it meets at least a 25% bump. Still sucks though.

#3. If you want the best, you gotta pay to play. Pony up or sit on the sidelines and bitch. 🙂

I fully expect the 9070xt to land closer to the 7900xtx than the 7900xt for raster but with much better RT than the 7900xtx and obviously less VRAM. The pricing is going to decide its fate. If it can come in at $699.99 or below, it will keep Nvidia honest which I already believe it has with Nvidia's pricing. I also think the 5000 series isn't going to be that much better than the 4000 series (sans 5090) so you achieve a better price per frame with a mild performance increase and price cuts versus last gen.

 

If the 5080->5060 were going to be massive upgrades you know darn well Jensen would extract his own of flesh for them price wise.

If I am remembering correctly, Vince was in talks with PNY? Or was it Zotac? I do not remember hearing if that was ever solidified or became official.

 

For less than $100, can't hate this... one 6-pin power connector. I wish it was not white, but whatever.

I always love the dichotomy of gaming requirements depending on what you want out of your gaming experience. You can literally play many modern games on a $150 or less GPU if you dial it down and temper your expectations OR if you want the absolute best 120fps+ experience at 4k, even a 5090 can be humiliated in some games....crazy.

My gaming satisfaction tends to scale with the product and price tag. I find it easier to be satisfied with the performance of products that are consistent with how much (or how little) I paid for it. The more inexpensive the product is, the more likely I am to overlook deficits in performance and minor flaws. I expect a great deal (near perfection) from expensive items and become very critical in forming opinions about them. The flip side is when something is inexpensive and can do what you need it to (with appropriate expectations) without costing a lot, those products are easy to love... or at least appreciate even if you don't love it. I would find it unforgivable for a halo-tier GPU (3090 Ti, 4090, 5090, 7900 XTX, etc.) to not tackle 4K @ 120+ FPS with very high or maxed out settings.

I still can't tell whether I'm more fascinated or intimidated by this Lian Li V3000+ case. Its proportions and weight are just absurd... Literally just looks like someone took a normal full tower case and then just photoshopped it or stuck it in a gigantification machine and blew it up to 200% scale. 
 

I am finding my self really lost in the build

process just a little lol. I’m shopping for some 480’s as we speak. The next thing is I’m torn on using a generic universal distribution plate, or am I gonna use a case specific distribution plate. Singularity makes a really good dual two part distribution plate, that I will probably use. Then moving on to fans is a whole other subject. I’ll probably get these Lian li fans that are solid white and non-RGB for simplicity throughout the whole case. 
 

And then there’s the 5090! The distraction of this upcoming release alone is making me want to “back burner” my “build in a case” and just buy a 5090 🤣

Yep, I keep going back and forth with the 9070xt/5070 "smart play" mindset and the YOLO!!! 5090 approach.

 

I already signed up for BB notification for the FE 5090..... 🤣

 

First come first serve, though. If a Suprim pops up first, I would just grab that.

 

Or maybe common sense will kick in and I'll go GPU less for a few weeks and just use my laptop and make a sane, sound, rationale decision steeped on common sense and wisdom.....

Yeah this obsession with high end parts is ridiculous lol. It’s all about that “Gotta have” I can’t own Lambos and Ferrari’s and I’m okay with that, so why the heck can’t I be happy with not owning a 5090 lol. I mean, on a more serious note my 4090 is brutally fast as it is. I need to put a waterblock on it, and ride out for about a year or so.

its hilarious, i was talking to my cousin this summer, hes a total car nut. he was like: soooo...u got a good education, great job, travel a lot, why the heck do you drive around in a POS junk pile?!

he also knows a bit about pc components so i just replied with what im currently sporting in my rig, he just laughed his butt off 😄 

 

funny thing is: hes exactly the other way around, has both a highend motorbike and a car but a PC that basically just does its job. my POS pile of junk does the same, gets me from A to B 😄

I have always loved guns and assault weapons in particular. I used to own quite a few and my younger brother is still heavily into firearms (he actually designs and fabricates them new from raw materials and restores antique and special interest firearms). But, I can only afford one hobby. If the performance computing hobby continues on its current path and turns to crap like it seems to be the path we are heading down, the time and money spend will be diverted back to guns again.

 

Before I got married and started having kids it was street rods, drag racing and motorcycles. That is no longer an option due to cost being totally out of control in motorsports. These are rich man sports. Besides that, the cleanliness of computing has pretty much ruined that for me. Although I do not like Frank and usually disagree with his opinions, ideas and outright lies about things, I this case I think his comments are on-point. I absolutely would not be playing with a 9950X except for the Core Ultra being such a pathetic and undesirable abortion. I would still be running Intel if the Core Ultra resembled a product engineered similar to Raptor Lake or a Raptor Lake refresh.

 

NVIDIA remains the company that makes flagship products we love best, but otherwise hate. Their deliberate manufacture of sub-halo SKUs that are repulsive and lackluster to drive demand for the top-shelf and grossly overpriced halo products is really despicable. It is the flip of the CPU scenario. Ryzen poplularity exploded due to how crappy Core Ultra was. 4090 and to a lesser degree the 4080 were wildly successful because Radeon and anything less than 4090 (4080 for the second fiddle gamers) from the Green Goblin are repulsive options for enthusiasts. This will be more of the same with 50 series. Either you pay out the kazoo for the best SKU or you settle for an overpriced but cheaper crappy alternative. NVIDIA has this figured out. They offer one great super expensive option. Everything else sucks from them or their competitor. The best inexpensive option is an Arc GPU. There is nothing in the middle worth looking at.

Only minor changes for the connector (Essentially it has slightly different pin design and other tweaks that improve all aspects of the 12VHPWR standard, much like it did for the GPU connector.). Yup. nvidia have made a bastard before.

Yes, I really enjoy guns as well. I only own two guns though I have a Glock 30 in 45 ACP, and a AR15 in 6MM ARC with 1-8 scope. Guns are a lot Of fun!

After lots of debating and thinking I have decided my direction with the Lian Li V3000+ Plus. This is one serious case, and I was getting overwhelmed with all the stuff I needed to feel like I’m actually doing it some justice. 
 

I’m going to order (2) German Watercool brand 480mm stainless rads, and (1) cheaper 480mm rad for the basement that isn’t seen, then I’m putting in a dual D5 distro plate made by Singularity Computers. And I’ll do push/ pull with some white Lian Li fans. I don’t think I realized the budget I’d need to

blow on just building in this case and doing it properly Honestly lol. I’m trying to be cheap with it which is proving to be a real challenge lol. But I’m going to pull it off and make it look cool. I’m probably gonna keep my 4090 and put a waterblock on it. It’s not feasibly realistic to buy a 5090 right now. I may grab one in 6 months or 1 year though as an upgrade to incorporate in this exact same case/build/loop.

I have never been interested in Founders Edition GPUs. I have always viewed them as a last resort option. I don't like how they look or how they are made. The way this new multi-piece 5090 FE is made I would only own one if I got it for free. That looks like an absolute abortion and I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. I think it takes the cake as the dumbest design I have ever seen. Designed by idiots, and I'd feel like an idiot buying one.

Stupidity is why we can't have nice things. PC builds like this are disgusting. Depending on what kind of mood I am in, just looking at pictures can trigger a negative response. It shows how shallow and hollow things have become. I can't relate to the notion that anyone would actually think something like that looks nice and can't think of anything nice to say about it. I had no idea that case was that big. It will be really nice when it is done. Is there any electrolysis between copper and stainless? That would be the only concern to consider about mixing the radiator material types. I am not sure if stainless radiators dissipate the heat the same, better or worse than copper. To be honest, I didn't know stainless was even an option. I have never heard of one until just now. I have only seen copper, brass and aluminum and I try to stay as far away from aluminum as possible. Is the whole thing stainless steel or only the outer frame for aesthetics?

 

I don't understand why distro plates are so darned expensive. All of them are. Even the least expensive off-brand Chinese distro plates are way too expensive. I think most of them are very nice and look good, but I've never owned one because I have always viewed them too expensive for something primarily for aesthetics. In a smaller case with space for pumps and reservoirs being limited I can see where having one might be necessary in lieu of an AIO due to not having adequate space for pump(s) and reservoirs. Singularity makes some truly amazing things. Some of the nicest-looking things, in fact. But I will likely never own any of their products because I am not willing to pay the high-premium prices they charge for something only because I think that it looks nice.

Exactly as Jokebooks become thinner. Desktop going same route. Remember many modern pc users want same design choices for desktop as for their laptops. You get exactly what you ask for. Form over function.

 

Walker says that Nvidia prioritized a smaller volume for the high-end card specifically to help it fit into smaller PC cases such as mini-ITX builds.

I like that it looks much thicker than most of the other bigger laptops too so hopefully better cooling along with a 400w PSU!

 

Asus gives you a *little* control over the UV in the BIOS on their gaming laptops. Nobody has approached MSI's level yet though outside of custom BIOSes. Hopefully Gigabyte or another steps up and even on a laptop chipset implements near desktop chipset controls like MSI.

Photos can be deceiving, but it looks very clean and new in the photos. Hopefully it is accurate. The seller is a middle-aged woman (her photo is on her profile) with lots of positive feedback. This is not the type of item she normally sells, so I am hoping this came from her own HTPC and the statement is accurate rather than something she bought cheap to resell and a sales pitch that she invented.

currently prepping my ebay auction for the 4090, very curious to see how the 12-pin socket held up, havent really checked it recently.....what could go wrong running it with a 1kW vbios as daily amirite 😛 😄
