tps3443
New discovery here with my RTX 4090 and I am super impressed by this, I started doing some investigation with my 4090 with power consumption. And this thing undervolts like crazy! I can do a standard +175Mhz on the core offset, then I can open the graph on the 0.950v mark and add another +30Mhz for a total of +205 on 0.950mv. This creates an effective 2,715Mhz boost at only 0.950mv, and the card uses exactly 125 less watts of power. So, it goes from around 440 watts in my game at default 1.050v 2,715Mhz, to around 315 watts of power at 0.950mv and the same 2,715Mhz boost. This is seriously amazing! This 125-watt reduction is only going from 1.050v to 0.950mv so, if someone is running the voltage slider at 100% in MSI AB and pushing 1.100v they would only lose -50Mhz in Core boost (Assuming they're at +0 offset on the core) while also reduce the power by 165 watts of power. 🤯 @Mr. Fox maybe give this a try, its very impressive! I have never tried to undervolt this GPU at all before, so this is my first thing looking into this. But seeing such results are insane to say the least. I am still trying to buy a 5090 lol. But dang, the 4090 is such a strong GPU. I have never seen such large power number drop offs from undervolting a GPU before, I remember undervolting my 3090KP and it definitely was not this drastic. I really enoyed Kefi's experiment. He is the one that made the custom Nvflash for 4000 series. Even Frame Chasers couldn't see it when he reviewed the 5080. The bench results he posted showed the real truth. The high boost didn't match the scores/results. Most modern hardware will clock stretch. This will continue (the bench run but will provide lower results) until it crash due the lack of voltage. Often soft crashes if you haven't totally capped down the needed voltage. The hardware will run at the brink of stability due too little voltage. I've discovered that all 4090s clock stretch below 1.15v. The factory limit was changed mid-production to 1.07v and thus new 4090s are secretly losing up to 100mhz. The reason why Newegg has all of these 3090's and 4090's is because they are heavily pushing the Newegg Trade-in program. Offering people $1,350 dollars for any working RTX4090 is not a bad deal. Newegg then turns around and sells these as "Refurbished" for $1,599-$1,799 range depending on the model. This is a way to feel the void for those that never had a 4090, and after nearly 3 years they can own one for MSRP! 🤣 It really feels like the 5090 was not ready at all to launch. Nvidia should have just waited until March. I do not know why they are so desperate to release a product that is not even real. I thought it was funny that they posted on Reddit asking gamers "How their DLSS4 gaming experience was?" when no one actually had a GPU 🤣 AMD waited on the 9070XT, and I think I can see why now. Maybe they are making a ton of them so everyone can buy one. 3 1 1 13900KF
Papusan
ProShop is the main sales sites to find hardware in Norway and Scandinavia. Nice. Once the embargo lifted, there were no cards left to buy. However, it turns out there was never a real chance to buy these cards, as they were all purchased in Some users even conrmed using multiple addresses to buy cards and circumvent the restriction limiting shipments to one per address. I stopped worrying about clock stretching / ghost clocks and started focusing on my actual bench/performance results / stability versus what my meter is reading being pulled out of the wall and drawing the conclusions there while undervolting and increasing clocks/mem to find the perfect power:performance point. @tps3443 rerun your tests with Timespy or in game benchmark to find that sweet proper UV point where performance takes the least hit. I just used TS with my 4090 to hit 2825mhz at 0.950v with power usage right around 340w in WoW and then below that clocks and performance really started to suffer and I had to dial back on my +175 to clocks or give it a wee bit more power or I would get lesser performance or crash/lock ups. 3 hours ago, Mr. Fox said: It's interesting that NewEgg had no 3090 Ti in stock and now suddenly tons of stock for sale at 5090 prices, and 4090 priced at $1,000 or more greater than 5090 prices. I also kept track of several 7900xtx models on Amazon and BB too. They were routinely in stock if not always in stock. This was also true with the 4070 Super. 5000 series drops, sells out instantly, tons of people couldn't get a 5080 or a 5090 and suddenly after the launch 7900xtx and 4070 supers sold out fairly quickly. Translation: Some buyers were holding off buying a 7900xtx, 4070 super (top cards realistically left in stock at many places from each company at MSRP) and once they couldn't get a 5000 series card and needed something they snapped up an alternative. You also have a fear of Tariffs kicking in and those prices skyrocketing. 1 hour ago, tps3443 said: The reason why Newegg has all of these 3090's and 4090's is because they are heavily pushing the Newegg Trade-in program. I guess this is your first taste of an Nvidia launch in quite awhile. 🙂 This one was worse than the 4000 series launch though by far as some 4090's lasted a few days at MC before selling out. 5090 was ready to launch. I mean, the cards and architecture are there and out. It wasn't ready to launch in volume but it was definitely ready to launch. 🙂 I think Nvidia wanted to get in also before the potential Tariffs kick in and suddenly the cost of all these cards is going to be at least 25% more expensive if not more for consumers unless an exception is made. With a baseline tariff, you're suddenly looking at $1250 for a 5080, $2500 for a 5090 for FE models and the prices just scale up from there. $3000 for a Suprim Air. $3500 for an Astral. This is all before sales tax. I know for myself if Tariffs kick in before I get a potential 5090 I will most certainly pass. Even now I'm still "meh" (as I was looking all morning....I know right?). I'm going to do some hard numbers when my 5080 FE comes in. at basically $1012 after tax w/ discounts it will be hard to beat price:performance. I'd prefer a 5090 FE or other MSRP model for $2k or if I need to spend more, a Suprim 5090. That's about it realistically but sometimes you have to let common sense kick in (or not 🤣) When I see numbers like this: It really shows the 5080 at $999.99 justifies its place in the price:performance pantheon. ~9% behind a 4090 for a fraction of the price. Do I wish it was faster? Of course, but no denying the same price for more performance and features. 5090 is just off in its own world dominating everything..... 13 minutes ago, Papusan said: ProShop is the main sales sites to find hardware in Norway and Scandinavia. There's for a reason stores/retailers say one item for every customer. You're ruining for the next guy in line for limited-edition items if you don't respect the rules. You are your own enemy. Scalpers do the same thing, but for maximum profit. What's the differences for the peps in line behind you getting nothing? What if the man in the line before you buy up everything to help friends/family members that don't bother spend their valuable time in the order line? Maybe they pay him for the work as well. If you have more than one item on your invoice/bill, you haven't followed the rules. Neither have the retailer. But what do I know... I'll take the time to find what I want. So no cryes/anger here🙂 With time the 4000 series will get some more love. Just sell out as much 5000 series cards you can make first. But probably smart because most 4000 series owners won't upgrade every gen. As well keep them of from buying cheaper AMD Radeon cards when they launch later this spring. But shops/retail will do whatever they can to screw you. And the manufacturer of the gods don't bother with you as paying customers. They care only for max profits. Only god know how many D branded cards got most love from Jensen and nvidia. Proshop has now spoken to PCGH . However, the retailer has withdrawn all responsibility for the events at or before the market launch and has simply referred to Nvidia. " Questions about the launch and its handling " should be directed to the manufacturer, they say. Nvidia has not commented. 3 hours ago, Mr. Fox said: Looks like some of the less expensive 5080 and 5090 might have molded plastic backplates on them. White turned to poop color after 3-4 weeks. On a item that costed $5000. Yup, high quality can be so much. But people should be happy Asus didn't use metal as etc MSI. The partial refund would be a point of discouragement for those motivated by secondary gain. Secondary loss (refund minus withheld handling fees) is their punishment for wrongful acquisition and it compensates the retailer for addressing the problems that those dishonest "customers" created for them. I like how the Prime, TUF and Pro Art GPUs and other products look. Very understated and industrial, similar to EVGA Dark motherboards. I saw a new MSI GPU that followed the very muted industrial look as well, similar to the new Prime and TUF GPUs. (I don't remember what they named it. I did not make special note of it because I am not planning a GPU purchase.) KISS principle without rainbow puke and shiny plastic or flashy trim, LCD screens, etc. I also think MSI making the Suprim LEDs white by default and only requiring software garbage if you want something different is a step in the right direction. Having rainbow puke as the default is disgusting.
