The sobering conclusion after all these tests is clear: Cooler Master could never have tested this cable in its current form under real-world conditions. No manufacturer who had even once attempted to insert this connector into a current high-end GPU like an RTX 5090 Suprim, a 4090 Strix, or similar cards would have been able to avoid this design without noticing the massive design flaw.

The CableMod moment for Cooler Master. What do those two companies have common? They both have the abbreviation CM, and both tried to reinvent the wheel. Do they also use same engineers and use same factory for their flawed products?

It is really unfortunate that nobody produces a high quality 90 degree 12VHPWR (aka 12V-2x6) cable. It is really inexcusable. How hard can it be?

 

CableMod produces a new type (Steathsense) that is supposedly the best available but I do not want to be a guinea pig. The straight connections really suck and are not even good for many of the largest cases on the market.

you could try and give the Seasonic cable a shot that ive been using. Not sure if the pinout would be compatible, but Seasonic is definitely up there with Noctua and others in terms of reliability and product quality. Havent heard of any cases of these cables melting (yet, at least 😛 )

If they make one with the same 12V-2x6 connector on both ends the pin-out will be the same regardless of PSU brand. If they only use 8-pin on the PSU side then pin-out could be off between brands (or even models within the same brand) and end in disaster.

they offer both. they got different kinds of 12V-2x6 ccables, i got the 2x8-pin to 12V-2x6 connector sku.

I see that after looking closer to the link you posted. I would only purchase the 12V-2x6 connectors on both ends. But, I don't see them available for sale anywhere in the US.

The best thing to take from this is him lending to the idea of using the best CPU for the game at hand and that he is CPU agnostic and owns and uses them all from CPU to GPU. For some games, Intel is better. For others, X3D is god mode. This has always been the truth. 

 

Fallout 76 runs substantially faster on X3D than Intel. In certain places, gobsmackingly so....

I still think Intel handles the critical lows of WoW better than AMD but since the 9000 series, the dip/chunk is gone with X3D.

 

I like owning a 9070xt and 5090

I like owning that SP109 14900KS and 9800X3D

I *want* to own a 285k platform but the 275HX Alienware 18 will have to do for now 

 

I know if a nicely priced, well binned 285k popped up I'd probably do something stupid and buy it like an idiot. 🤣

Overall, though, Jufus needs to understand there is "hardware enthusiast crowds" and "normal crowds" and most people (like 99% if I had to guess) are just going to go buy their laptops and desktops, plugged them in, install steam, epic, blizzard, MS, etc.... and play their games. They are never, ever going to get under the hood in any way, shape or form. They literally freeze up at the idea of updating their BIOS and will come to someone like us or take it to a Best Buy/MC of sorts for any type of problems or upgrades.

 

This is why his attacks on HUB and other mainstream sources routinely do not make sense to me. This is also why his channel has been stuck at sub 40k subs forever growing at a snails pace. Not that it is a bad channel. I enjoy it. It is because his target audience is a tiny fraction of the audience that watches channels like HUB, JZ2C, LTT and more....

yep thats the shortcoming on those cables, they are incredibly hard to find LOL

 

what i did was to take the serial number of the cable i wanted and just do a google wide search for it. maybe u can find some US or Europe based shops that offer them this way 🙂

The part you timestamped is one of the rare examples of common sense being easily recognizable when he opens his mouth. His vulgar communication style and his frequent assaults on peers makes it very difficult for knowledgeable enthusiasts to take him and his channel seriously. The lowest common denominators in the personal computing space that run a PC the same as a console will always be the reason we can't have nice things and hardware manufacturers will continue to get away with selling trash. The masses don't know what they don't know and their ignorance is a hindrance to all of us. It gives license to hardware manufacturers and bloatware developers to produce garbage they know most consumers will never recognize as such. As long as it is riddled with rainbow puke and reminds them of the cartoons they enjoy watching on Saturday morning, the sheeple rejoice. If he could clean up his act a little bit and not act like a horse's butt, and didn't charge insane prices for normies to join his Discord and learn things about overclocking and performance tuning, he would be an unstoppable force. He is a very stupid smart guy that makes himself hard for most people to like.

I found them on eBay shipped from China. The idea of using it is still somewhat unsettling and they are $50 a pop. Until the fiasco with CableMod 12VHPWR adapters melting I had always viewed CableMod as a provider of superior quality PSU cables. They have a new 12V-2x6 StealthSense cable (not adapter) that is supposedly a superior solution that seems like a very high quality option that surpasses the quality of what most PSU manufacturers include. It probably is, but I am a bit gun shy. They have some things their competitors do not, like being UL-approved and their StealthSense thing piqued my interest. Nonetheless, It's hard not to feel apprehensive though.

 

Using a third-party solution loses a bit of credibility. If the PSU cable that came with the PSU or the adapter that ships with a new GPU melts and damages the GPU it is easier to point the finger. Whether having a right to point the finger and whether or not they will have your back is a whole different matter. Good chance they will not give you the time of day and just blow you off. If there was one thing that could be said in CableMod's favor is they did not hang their customers out to dry when their defective 90-degree adapters failed. They went beyond what I think any of their competitors would have.

Hmmm. The StealthSense feature was made only because the two sense vires on all CableMod 12VHPWR cables went lose from the mini connector and hence many users that bought cables from them run into blackscreen. The orginal adapers coming in the GPU package and 12VHPWR cables from PSU manufacturers didn't suffer from this.  So a huge load of RMA also for their 12VHPWR cables. Not a quality sign for their products as I see it. Just a fix for their bad QC and quality.

 

And I know.... Because I was the first one to see their products in development. The first rough drawings of their StealthSense feature. This was brought up in PM with me from CM before they found out to ban me from their Reddit forum. Aka they tryed to silence me for telling the truth about their trash products.
