I hope that someone invents some kind of self-executing stealth worm malware to be automatically uploaded by the Redmond Reprobates to OneDrive without permission that would systematically crash all of Micro$lop's servers, severely corrupt all of their Copilot AI databases beyond repair, and take them offline for a week or two. Would be nice for them to experience a major tragedy from grabbing files off of consumer PCs without permission and putting them on OneDrive.

Suddenly getting random shutdowns on the Z890 Apex during memory or CPU stress tests. Even at JEDEC / Stock.

 

Culprit? MSI Ai1300P PSU. 

 

I had swapped it in when I switched to the APEX from the Coolmaster V850 SFX I had on the table from ITX testing and subsequently had used with the Z890 Strix.

 

Swapped back to the CoolMaster and all the shutdowns went away. Swapped back to the MSI, shutdowns returned.

 

Incoming RMA.....

 

This is the same PSU I picked up open box for $142.99 back in May 2024 along with @Talon

Is the industry seriously shocked no one wants AI? A solution looking for a generalized problem. In pockets, it has its value, but overall? Once the bean counters realize it isn't anywhere near as profitable as they hoped, the bubble will burst and Nvidia and AMD will come crashing back down to reality.

 

First thing I do after every install and update is review add/remove and jettison anything M$ decided to add I originally did not want. One of those is OneDrive. It is literally the first thing I uninstall on first boot to the desktop.

LOL yep! Same exact PSU. I RMA'd with MSI and they sent me back that brand new ATX 3.1 version.

Yup, I use the Chris Titus tool to jettison OneDrive and also use group policy to disable "Save documents to OneDrive by default" and enable "Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage" just for good measure. Then I use RevoUnistaller to give Edge the boot. I hate both of those digital cancer tumors. And, those are just for starters. I use a script to destroy Defender and tear up anything else I can find a way to destroy that isn't bare metal Windoze. Copilot, Widgets, Cortana and all that crap.

no but seriously, im looking forward to when the first Lightning owners post their 800W and 1kW vbios to TPU so we can all profit from them 🙂 ill wager the 1kW will have the same or similar efficiency (in terms of fps per watt) as the Matrix 800W but with 200W more headroom and thus even less reason to use the leaked XOC 1600W vBios. at some point the 2500W XOC will also leak. just you wait.

 

but honestly, at 1000W im satiated anyways 😄 still havent gotten around to even unpack my wireview pro II, let alone install it, sigh...

Blower-style GeForce cards built for AI workloads are showing up for sale in bulk on Chinese marketplaces. We have seen this idea in renders for a while. Now there are listings that look like real stock, not one-off mods

 

RTX 5090 32GB : 28,999 CNY (about $4,156).

RTX 5090D 32GB : 26,999 CNY (about $3,869)

RTX 5090D V2 24GB : 23,999 CNY (about $3,439)

 

And if the xx90 series is too expensive. You can get 16GB cards for your AI farms.

 

RTX 5080 16GB : 8,988 CNY (about $1,288)

RTX 5070 Ti 16GB : 7,699 CNY (about $1,103)

RTX 5060 Ti 16GB : 3,999 CNY (about $573)

 

No problem get cards if you pay enough. 

 

Also MSI want their share of the cake. Jazzed up $2000 cards with fancy coolers, screen and RGB turn into ++$4000 purchases finally get meaning. Even $2500 for each of the better custom cards would provide nice profit margins. Greed have no limits.

@Mr. Fox when you thought you have seen the dumbest tech ever... 12v-2*6 cable adapers as replacements for real cables. 

 

COUGAR showed a 1200W PSU with six 16-pin power ports at CES 2026, and it is probably not what you think

 

Well, the explanation is simpler than it looks. The six 12V-2×6 ports are PSU-side modular connectors that act as a shared interface. COUGAR’s bundle uses adapter cables that turn some of those ports into CPU EPS connectors, and others into PCIe 6+2-pin connectors for GPUs. For cards that use a 16-pin input, the same ports can stay 12V-2×6 on both ends. We don’t know, though, what would have happened if these conectors had only been used for GPU

 

This one offer firecracker for all the tiny 12V-2*6 connectors on the PSU shroud🥴

 

 

 

Yup, the yellow tip from MSI stands out.

And the pc consumers is their own enemy. 750W PSU should be fine for 5080 but that heavily depends on the quality of the SKU and the brand.

Decided to give MX Linux a go. Really nice distro. Comes with a built-in dedicated NVIDIA driver tool and lots of other stuff. 

 

I think I mentioned this once before, but LACT is a really nice NVIDIA GPU overclock tool. (Works for AMD as well.) And cpupower-gui works nice for CPU overclocking.
