I was just looking at that MSI B850M Edge MB for the Jonesbo Z20 I have. It is a portable SFF but supports MATX and I was just fighting an uphill battle trying to stick to an ITX board in it. I like that it is a 2 dimmer too.

Couple of new additions to the roster.

 

Traded one of my 5700 XT's to a coworker for his 6500 XT. It'll act as my frame Gen mule on the TV and main gaming monitor. 

 

The second was my first real GPU. Anyone care to guess what it is?

First GPU? Man, that's a hard one. There have been so many over a long period of time. I'd just have to take a wild guess and say something like an 8800GT or maybe a Radeon Pro / All-in-Wonder Pro (both were AGP, before PCIe was invented). Maybe I am dating myself by guess one of those oldies. I can still remember running Voodoo and Matrox cards before NVIDIA or AMD.

Just realized you cant see the connector, its definitely PCIe 2.0 sorry about that lol

 

The 5700 XT gave him a 100% boost in performance and double the VRAM. I just needed something else that was "newer" mainly for the HDMI 2.1 connector. The card may not be able to handle 4K Frame Gen but didnt want to buy anything until I could figure out what works for me. 

Gives me something else to submit into hwbot also

 

I gave up the 3090ti for FG, installing the drivers for both vendors is such a huge headache and Microsoft likes to muddle with settings without user input. Keeping to one vendor should eliminate that hurdle but i'll know more tomorrow when the 100mm ribbon arrives

I traded one of my Gigabyte 3 fan 5700 XT's for a 3 fan Gigabyte 6500 XT. Cant recall the last time I used a GPU that only had 2 I/O ports outside of maybe laptops.

Nice! Make a nice chunk of change on the "almost as good as my main rig" setup and have a very competent secondary rig.

 

New toys on deck or into the kitty for future consideration? Mine was destined for the kitty but got slammed with a larger than expected tax bill, so there goes that.... 🤑

5700xt is still one of my favorites. I had the AMD anniversary blower edition for over a year (~august 2019 to ~Oct 2020) before upgrading to a 3090FE fresh from BB.

 

I remember Asus red fans and AMD cards era, so definitely an AMD card I think. I kinda remember those around when I got my EVGA Nvidia GTX 280 so circa 2009-2010?

Yup, the fancy screen on the Lightning ain't gold that glitters. Just some fancy unnecessary gimmick to increase the already sky-high prices. And I shouldn't start talk about the new web based trashy software to make it work (which not work at all).

Tried Bifurcation again today and sadly no dice, system would hang half way through post.

 

Oh well, I'll return the adapters at some point during the week and hang up this goal for a while. Likely going to need that adapter from C_Payne in the UK.

 

Otherwise I want to get more hoseline and make some adjustments to my setup and the benching itch has been working me over for a while now. Maybe I'll start with the EAH4890 and potential Tri-Fire.
