I was just looking at that MSI B850M Edge MB for the Jonesbo Z20 I have. It is a portable SFF but supports MATX and I was just fighting an uphill battle trying to stick to an ITX board in it. I like that it is a 2 dimmer too.

Traded one of my 5700 XT's to a coworker for his 6500 XT. It'll act as my frame Gen mule on the TV and main gaming monitor. 

 

The second was my first real GPU. Anyone care to guess what it is?

First GPU? Man, that's a hard one. There have been so many over a long period of time. I'd just have to take a wild guess and say something like an 8800GT or maybe a Radeon Pro / All-in-Wonder Pro (both were AGP, before PCIe was invented). Maybe I am dating myself by guess one of those oldies. I can still remember running Voodoo and Matrox cards before NVIDIA or AMD.

Just realized you cant see the connector, its definitely PCIe 2.0 sorry about that lol

 

The 5700 XT gave him a 100% boost in performance and double the VRAM. I just needed something else that was "newer" mainly for the HDMI 2.1 connector. The card may not be able to handle 4K Frame Gen but didnt want to buy anything until I could figure out what works for me. 

Gives me something else to submit into hwbot also

 

I gave up the 3090ti for FG, installing the drivers for both vendors is such a huge headache and Microsoft likes to muddle with settings without user input. Keeping to one vendor should eliminate that hurdle but i'll know more tomorrow when the 100mm ribbon arrives

I traded one of my Gigabyte 3 fan 5700 XT's for a 3 fan Gigabyte 6500 XT. Cant recall the last time I used a GPU that only had 2 I/O ports outside of maybe laptops.

Nice! Make a nice chunk of change on the "almost as good as my main rig" setup and have a very competent secondary rig.

5700xt is still one of my favorites. I had the AMD anniversary blower edition for over a year (~august 2019 to ~Oct 2020) before upgrading to a 3090FE fresh from BB.

 

I remember Asus red fans and AMD cards era, so definitely an AMD card I think. I kinda remember those around when I got my EVGA Nvidia GTX 280 so circa 2009-2010?

Otherwise I want to get more hoseline and make some adjustments to my setup and the benching itch has been working me over for a while now. Maybe I'll start with the EAH4890 and potential Tri-Fire.

That lightning is gimped with that poor stock voltage and it's a poor sample. Even applying the extra voltage in AB can't save it. All that extra wattage can't save it. Clearly MSI isn't binning too much. Lightning for sale over on the OC forums with a nice, healthy 1.105v voltage cap and a good clocker and even then.......~$6600 USD (toss on a 15-20% tariff on top of that).

 

The Lightning display causing erratic and lower 1% lows is the icing on the cake.....

trump admin approach to Anthropic is disgusting. Basically using strong arm mafia tactics because they won't let their AI tools run automated and unchecked in battlefield situations or for enhanced surveillance.

As for Nvidia, the golden rule is in full effect atm. Nvidia is the performance top dog with all the gold....or at least 94% of it. Dominating in every aspect from Steam to AI and more. Someone needs to make a better product to even have a chance of unseating them anytime soon and it isn't the current generation. AMD needs to have their next gen cards (10900xt? 10090xt?) match the consistent rumors and really bring the heat or Nvidia will just continue to dominate.

 

9070xt is a damn good card for what it is, but it runs hot and heavy for what it brings compared to the 5070ti. Node shrink is definitely needed along with architecture advancements but AMD has really caught up in many areas at serious speeds.

I think, sadly, this is more of a Nvidia was entertaining the idea of 8GB and 16GB variants back then, deciding only to release 8GB variants versus AMD who never entertained 16GB consumer cards. In theory it the GPU is compatible since the workstation variant exists with 16GB but there may be significant differences in the PCB.

Since RTX 30xx continued its dominance, we lost innovation since AMD couldnt hold Nvidia to the fire. I really enjoy my 7900 XTX and how much I was able to extract out of it.

Highest OC: 3300c

That being said it'll never beat a 4090 with the same amount of time put in.

 

 

That why its a mod and its not easy to pull off, a lot of time and money but its cool to see other people doing this to fight back against NVIDIA. Sadly AMD refuses to take advantage of NVIDIA's mistakes to make themselves a good option. Speaking of the RTX3000 series there are rumors that NVIDIA is bringing back RTX 3060 GPUs

This is stupid, why politicians from both parties always create terrible solutions that wont change anything especially when kids are very tech savvy. Plus this bill is useless especially when Parents buy PCs for their kids they register the account (MS Account) or whatever under the parent's name and age, It would be more scary if they have to verify the age of the user through a webcam every time you wanna login. Just another excuse for the government to take more money out of regular people pockets. Also the media is nothing but propaganda and ragebait same with social media.
