Nice. +88% in price increase due new (more) bling bling. This means near or above 400$ usd here home. I wonder what they will add in premium for their next gen PSUs and rest of their tech gears.

Same here. You can almost guarantee a waterblock for all the Strix models. And it looks greats too. Personally, I would just run it on air cooling for a while my self. Then I’d get bored and want to blast it with daily water chilling.

HaHa. Even worse then 🙃 Yep you will get better deals on the new as well.

As an example. 300 MSRP minus 50% = 200$. Still not cheap and not near their older models in price with an price deal. This is going the wrong way, bro John.

Edit. I also got a very good deal on the older models a couple of years ago. Well under half price in the used market (brand new - not used).

You do know that that MSRP is like the middle of the road right? On a scale of like 5 different price points. the 159.99 price point is like 4 and 89.99 is like maybe 2.

Edit:

Isn't going from 90 dollars to 300 dollars...isn't that a 270% increase?

The new bling bling will look nice in open/glass cases, but will probably provide slightly negative value in terms of cooling performance. RGB fans perform strictly worse.

The negative is the more fancy colors if you don't know how to turn it of, LOOL

People would be better off building a custom loop with the price of a good AIO. It’s one of the few PC components we get to re-use over and over.

These are (3) main parts radiator, pump, waterblock. All for the cost of only $161 dollars. Tubing is $1 dollar per 1ft, and fittings are like $5 each. Someone could probably build it even cheaper than that.

Whether they are good or not depends on the criteria, but yeah, they look quite powerful. That said, they don't specify noise levels, probably for a good reason 🤣

Me personally, i'm not overly concerned about it as this is my Windows 2022 Server. I have the ability to turn on or off the lighting so not an issue. But it makes for seeing things under the desk at night, 100% more enjoyable.

A downturn if you chose the newer 280mm AIO. The previous model cooled about equal good as the bigger 360mm AIO's. I wonder why the fan specs is not comprehensive on all models. The old 120mm fans and new have almost same specs, but not for the bigger 140mm fans (near 28% less cooling performance for the new and shiny).

For me, this looks more as design/features over functionality. Fans can be tuned down if the noise is too much. But you can't do the opposite (increase performance for better cooling). This rub me the wrong way.

image.thumb.png.1dc9caef86164826843297d967dda634.png

And I don't like that EVGA continue with the weak anc cheap plastic backplate for socket 1700. How much do they save vs a proper metal backplate? 1$ ?

Ah, you're right. Still, those seem to be very loud fans. The fans in Arctic Freezer II ARGB are 0.3 Sone which apparently is 10.6 dB...

I understand that the impact of RGB on fan characteristics has more to do with the additional resistance / airflow disturbance caused by the LED+wiring. The amount of heat emitted by these in operation is negligible.

Not necessarily. Some fans are louder along the entire RPM curve. In other words, you might need to turn them down to a much lower RPM point (obviously resulting in worse cooling) to achieve the same noise level as fans with better accoustics. If you look at the specs, even if you turn the EVGA fans to the minimum, they will still be louder than the Arctic fans at max speed.

The problem with the Arctic Freezer II ARGB is if you turn down the fan speed you also turn down the pump speed. This is one of the worst thing you can do for the pumps longeivity(clogged pump). I prefer full speed for the pump.

Interesting point, but it seems that fans and pump can't can be independently controlled on the Arctic. Anyway, good thing it's so quiet it can also be run at full speed no probs (as I have to do anyway) 🙂

would be nice for corsair to get a bit more competition in that space. pricing is comparably crazy but at least with EVGA i have hope that there might be some worthwhile extras with it like software, tuning ability, good fans, etc. and not just an apple-esque "name" tax.

This looks really tempting, but wouldn't there be more of a leak risk when going with budget components? For me the biggest draw would be the ability to use slim liquid cooled GPUs, but that seems to involve custom water blocks, at least for the 4090 so far?
