I hope you and your family have fun in the sun.

Thank you very much my friend. Look at this the next 14 days... Canary Islands, Spain 14 day weather forecast

But where we are in Canary the weather will be between 25-29C in middle of the days. The usaual weather  is mostly 26C. So perfect for me 🙂

Edit: https://www.holiday-weather.com/playa_del_ingles/forecast/

Much hotter as above 30C and I start struggle with my lungs in same way as in rainy and cold days here home. Can't have it all. So I will enjoy the days with the best weather for me.

Edit. Yep, tape works well to keep the aircraft together. Real screws is too expensive. Tripod plane the Dell way😁 Canary here I come. Rain and Norway… Goodbye

It is nice to finally see some good memory overclocking from the Red Team. It was a long time coming. Very respectable. Not sure who asked you to post, but no invitation is needed. Desktop, laptop, Intel, AMD, NVIDIA all welcome here.

im still working my way up with the RAM, just takes so damn long to optimize and test for stability haha. but still fun!

Yes it can be very tedious and frustrating because the stability can be deceiving and an apparent lack of stability misleading as a result of the memory getting too hot. Without water cooling I've had to start over a couple of times because my settings actually were stable but the temperatures led me to believe otherwise. To get an accurate read it needs to stay below 45°C. Above that the opportunity for memory test errors begins to skew results.

No LM was a surprise that just made it worse.

Also doesn't quite match up to overclocked ram.

Yeah the lack of LM, cost and overall results just shut down this one as a potential for me. I saw minisforum is going to offer the 7945HX3D in there sff so we can expect it to show up in better laptops than the $3600 Strix.

This.

I mean for a soft OC, the sticks can handle up to 60c even. Stock even higher. But when you start to get into those tighter margins temps will shut them down under stress every time and when gaming (or lighter loads) they will sporadically crash out.

I had already adopted MSI as my preferred vendor over the last few years. This will just solidify it. I was interested in a Titan for travel but their prices are insane on that laptop. 4k+ for a 4080? $5k+ for a 4090? No thanks

bit off topic but I finally managed to get ATLAS OS installed, and its pretty good, keeps almost everything essential and slims everything down in a tidy package. im around 70-80 processes with everything i need installed and running. no issues so far highly recommend it. one thing I did notice over other custom oses is the snappiness if you blink you miss the loading its just stupid fast. haven't tested gaming out yet but I am pretty confident the reports of big gains are legitimate. heres a pic of my idle temps(10c lower than stock/tweaked)

Thanks for sharing. I have not tested Atlas OS. I should since I don't really have to sweat anything with multi-boot configurations and Macrium Reflect at the ready to undo anything I don't like.

On another note, I ordered one of these from Titan Rig. Seems like a cool tool. I ordered the 12VHPWR to 12VHPWR "normal" version for my Suprim. While it is branded Thermal Grizzly, it is an Elmor's Labs creation.

But wait there's more. My non overclocked scores are up. Overclocked it's about even. But temps are lower. I can confirm this. My temps maxed out at 70c gpu in superposition and they have never been lower than 76c in any benchmark..pretty exciting as now I can rebench everything.

heres one example. before I ran this i tested on windows 11 and with a 100mhz core overclock i got 5200~ now Im getting close with completely stock fresh boot, so I guess what people were say was true, I usually take it all with a grain of salt because nvm. but heres the stock run

I'd like to add. It's not really a benchmark os but in games you get reduced latency and slightly higher frames in a few choice games. I couldn't care less about 2 extra frames if I'm going to mess around in a game that's over 144fps. But the temperatures. Hot dang. I was running cinebench at 3.3ghz and it was hovering in the low 50s..like cmon how the heck does turning off services make such a difference in temps. False values maybe?

The AM5 direct die block Thermal Grizzly is making looks like a knock-off on the design concept of the Intel IceMan blocks I ordered from AliExpress. I guess an Intel version of it is also in the works. It's fancier and more expensive, but basically identical idea.

I have had the privilege of acquainting myself with the Atlas OS, and I must confess that its merits have surpassed even my most sanguine expectations. The temperature differentials it exhibits, manifesting as subtly subdued thermals during onerous workloads and notably diminished levels during periods of idleness, are a testament to its efficacious design. The overarching alacrity with which it responds is a marvel, evoking a profound sense of admiration.

I beseech you, esteemed individuals, to cast your discerning gaze upon this prodigious creation. Let it not be dismissed with a perfunctory wave of the hand, but rather be subjected to the inquisitive scrutiny it so rightfully deserves. For within the intricacies of the Atlas OS lies an exceptional tapestry of innovation, awaiting the cognizance of those with an appetite for the extraordinary.

me with a little help from my friend cha.rles gary p.eterson t.homas. you just have to see this and also look into ai helping you tweak your system, it created me a .bat file that bumped up my performance albeit at the cost of thermals

gained 50 points in timespy not sure if its just in the margin of error or what. but heres the P count with apps closed

Nice, Yeah I was hesitant to try it, its nice because its basically a complete works. you get as many tweaks possible while still being functional enough to be used as a daily driver. I installed it on my ultrabook, and overall a really nice bump for the integrated graphics, I can see why people with lesser systems swear by Atlas. I think im going to keep using it. Als something even better linux I managed to try out zorin and it was pretty nice to see a clean fast OS it is pretty good but not enough for me to make the switch, im just too accustomed to the microsoft windows ecosystem.

I have been playing with Linux for many years, so the shock probably isn't dramatic for me compared to many people looking to ditch Winduhz in the 11th hour. I am convinced Linux is vastly superior to Windooz 10/11, but the change still requires some effort, even for me, due to the lack of Windowz software that I am accustomed to and like using. I know the day is coming, probably sooner than later, that the final shoe will drop and I will tell the Redmond Reprobates to lay a wet one on my unwashed posterior orifice, then slit them from ear to ear and leave them to bleed out in a port-o-potty that hasn't been serviced for six months. My hate for them grows stronger with each version update that I allow to molest my crash dummy installations. Their commitment to making it a crappier product is truly phenomenal.

Yup, Atlas is real good. It has some nice extra features like Ghost Spectre, but with less bloat and better because it is Windows 10. I was able to install it in-place to replace Windung 11. I like that you install an official Micro$lop ISO and then run it to exorcise the filth afterwards.

yeah its shockingly good.(bad) compared to linux from what most people say.

I honestly had it running so well, and I asked chat gpt to create a .bat file to turn off unnessessary services lol it crashed and wouldn't even boot up. its good at coding, just doesn't have common sense yet(ever). I don't see ai taking over the world no more than calculators ruining society in the 50s

Yep, a nice tool. But useless for me with dual 12VHPWR connectors 😞 Can’t have it both.

Then adding more connectors on the loop also add more possible failures. The Cablemod way😆

And Corsair’s engineering star Jonyyguru have only one tips… Extenders should be banned.

Yep, nice the top engineers follow Papusan’s ways thinking tech. The whole world is filled of trash-ware you don’t need.

Btw. Happy camper in Canary with 28C. Hope this doesn’t change. Changes only for the changes normally doesn’t make things better😁 And newer doesn’t always means better bro @ryan

You've gotten me tempted to try atlas os now lol @ryan. And i was happy with revios 10.

So basically just gains from the clock speed bump. Hopefully we see more gains in efficiency with the enabled DLVR.

Yep, nice the top engineers follow Papusan’s ways thinking tech. The whole world is filled of trash-ware you don’t need.

Anything other than triple or quad 8-pin is stupid, foolish and risky because the 12VHPWR was, and always will be, an idiotic idea invented by idiots. It was changed for the sake of change, fueled by greed and unchecked stupidity. Having two of them doesn't make it any less retarded and unnecessary. You might only need to have half as much power going to each connector but you've also got twice as many potential points of failure using a defective design.

The best we can hope for at this point is that the next generation the Green Goblin's AIB partners will disregard instructions and go back to using what should have been continued indefinitely (8-pin PCIe). The change was irrational and greed always clouds good judgment.

I did pause and also thought about getting the triple 8-pin to 12VHPWR option, but I decided if Elmor's Labs, with their focus on extreme overclocking hardware mods, can't do this right then there is no reason for anyone to have any amount of hope left, about 12VHPWR or anything else, relating to the hobby.

Has it been confirmed if DLVR is enabled for 14th? That would be the one and only saving grace for it besides maybe better bins overall.

The AM5 direct die block Thermal Grizzly is making looks like a knock-off on the design concept of the Intel IceMan blocks I ordered from AliExpress. I guess an Intel version of it is also in the works. It's fancier and more expensive, but basically identical idea.

been on the lookout for this! holding off on delidding until i cam get my hands on the enhanced IHS, direct die is not an option for me due to the problem of having three dies and no actualy center to put the cooler on, thus way higher risk of cracking silicon. alternatively, ill try just using the stock ihs in an LM sandwich...

Thinking about grabbing one of these for the one NVME drive I have, I was surprised to see that Der8uaer actually checked it out as well.

Looks like fleabay wont let me buy it for some reason, ill try again tomorrow.

u got enough clearance for that? might be easier to just point a 120/140mm fan onto the ssd 😄

welp, considering 14th gen is basically a "gift" for socket 1700 owners im not complaining. one more gen for my lady's machine to be upgrade to, ill take it! especially if it turns out more efficient than 13th gen 😃

btw bro @Mr. Foxi just started back at zero with my ram tuning, i encountered the exact thing u mentioned with regards to errors popping up due to thermals. going back to stock timings at 6400 gear 1 and will tune vdd/vddq first, then start again with the timings...

Wouldn”t DLVR be basically equivalent to undervolting, and thus be mostly of benefit in stock benchmarks and to people who don’t tune things in the BIOS? If so, then probably not

that much of a saving grace. Hopefully the rumours prove to be FUD and there is more to this refresh, but if core counts are not going up for the 14900K then this is likely to be a disappointing iteration indeed.
