electrosoft
3090ti vs 4080 super. My original assessment stands. Raw power, the only real upgrade for a 3090/3090ti owner is the 4090. If you matched the 4080S clocks with the 3090 Ti the FPS would probably be about the same. Yeah the 4080 Super is very nice. Primarily with just how efficient it is. 90% of the time my 4080 Super with the 450W bios is literally 80% of a stock RTX4090 (Most of the time) It’s pretty fast! My old 3090KP was also quick for a 3090, it was substantially faster than overclocked 3090Ti’s. I believe the biggest advantage is the 4080S feels faster in real world when using RT/FG/DLSS3. Not to mention Cyberpunk 2077. Mainly because of Frame Gen. I can play Cyberpunk with 4K, DLSS Quality, Ultra RT, Path tracing off, and average exactly 100FPS. My 3090 would be high 50‘s here. So it makes the 4080S feel and seem like a monster in comparison all thanks to Frame Gen, better RT performance, and all at a fraction of the power cost lol. And it’s just so much smoother. When I was playing CB2077 on my 3090KP I had a profile that was pulling about 580-620W range on power. And it was barely maintaining that 54-60. I actually did buy a 4090. So we’ll see if it’s able to offer me more than 20% uptick. Possibly 25%. 😬 I’m hopeful though. The 4090 seems like sometimes it can just demolish in these rare scenarios, but other times it only offers a smaller boost over the 4080 Super. I know the 4090 is strong. But when I see my benchmarks compared to a stock 4090, I’m a little hesitant. But then I think about how much I enjoyed just 18%, whereas if it is something in the realm of 20-28% that would be a very welcome improvement. Anyways, I always thought going from a 3090Ti to a 4080 Super is pretty much like a half way mark to the full on 4090 performance boost. Some people may not think that’s good enough though, and that certainly makes sense. 3 1 1 13900KF

It is a software problem, not a hardware problem. It doesn't really have anything to do with the GPU being more powerful or better. It's just that it plays nicer with one than it does the other. We see that from time to time with certain benchmarks, especially less popular benchmarks. The choice in CPU can also be an influential factor and some games can run better and faster with an inferior CPU. Probably the best example of this is Arc GPUs running some old games that use antiquated DX APIs. Without driver optimization some have been uplayable, but it has nothing to do with the performance capabilities of the GPU. 2 1 Wraith // Z790 Apex | 14900KS | 4090 Suprim X+Byksi Block | 48GB DDR5-8600 | Toughpower GF3 1650W | MO-RA3 360 | Hailea HC-500A || O11D XL EVO Banshee // X870E Carbon | 9950X | 4090 Gaming OC+Alphacool Block | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1200x SHIFT | XT45 1080 Nova || Antec C8 Spectre // Z790i Edge | 13900KS | 3090 Ti FTW3 | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1000e | EK Nucleus CR360 Direct Die || Prime A21 Half-Breed // Dell Precision 7720 | BGA CPU Filth+MXM Quadro P5000 | 4K Display | Sub-$500 Grade A Refurb | Nothing to Write Home About Mr. Fox YouTube Channel | Mr. Fox @ HWBOT The average response time for a 911 call is 10 minutes. Alot of people are unaware of this trick but if imagine your old 3090 would get 90 vs 50 I tried something like that with those DLSS+FG mods for games from Pure Dark on Reddit, but I don’t think it works on RTX3000 series. Never worked for me anyways only the upscaling would actually work. I remember trying on Starfield and the Pandora game. No luck though. Unless something has changed. ryan
I tested with witcher 3. Ratchet and clank and forza..it doubles frame rates.i will tell more in a bit check gaming sub section if you want to try it Yeah I tried the star field mod, no luck but for games that natively support fg all games get almost double frame rates. I couldn't run ratchet and clank at 4k medium with my 3060 with fg im in the 50s. Thing I like is how easy the mod is and once you drop two dlls it is good to go Everytime without fiddling. At first it didn't work but once it did very impressive. Cool thing is it turns your 3060 into a 4060 basically. Has to be the dx12 folder where exe is and just double click bat file to disable checks heres witcher 3 at 4k all high dlss set to auto. before i was getting 10fps and with frame generation around 33fps id say quality dlss 4k high settings and getting 80fps in RACRA is incredible. 3080s are around 70-90fps. so yeah the bump up is pretty good, for some reason its saying its fsr3 mod now. beofre it was just dlss fg. so im not sure if im using the right one if not it still looks good and runs great regardless of amd or nvidia version./ 3 1 ZEUS-COMING SOON Omen 16 2021 Zenbook 14 oled Vivobook 15x oled

I am sort of a patreon supporter for this guy named “Pure Dark” anyways, the guy makes mods for games that do not initially or never support DLSS, or Frame Gen etc. Some of his stuff is free, while the rest of it is behind a pay wall ($5 dollars per month, you can just pay once download everything and cancel lol). But, I think it’s worth it. Game devs are slow to incorporate the best Nvidia tech in some of these titles. And I think that’s where the Pure Dark modded comes in useful. I am using his mods in Avatar Pandora game, it added Nvidia DLSS3+FG and it worked 100% smoothly. He’s also done a lot of other older games, that were pre frame gen. He also did Starfield DLSS+ FG before Bethesda added it to the game officially like 4-6 months later lol. Take a look at the monstrous performance of a stock 14th gen Intel chip, tuned DDR5, and on a clogged up “non-modified” Win11 install lol. This kind of blew my mind seeing 1080P render at such consistent GPU usage even with FPS over the 300’s. I think these chips can easily handle whatever next gen Nvidia can throw at them comfortably. Also shows how much the E-Cores really help. Keeps the game smooth, and the GPU usage high. 4 13900KF
ryan
I have a 4k OLED tv, and honestly gaming at 1080p is fine im not too crazy when it comes to graphics as most games look like they came out in 2010. I only do 4k for benchmarks but the above video just shows off a systems total power, over 300fps at 1080p ray tracing/ultra. very impressive indeed. I plan on getting a desktop eventually but I think it will be a mid range card still like playing around with settings for benchmarking. also as for the 4k vs 1080p debate i think it depends on how close you are to the actual screen, i mean if your a casual gamer your not going to be 2 feet away from a 55in tv or monitor. I think if you are 1440p with windowed mode makes more sense as when your close to the screen your per vision isnt goes to be able to take it in. one good game that still looks nice and would be sweet to see getting 1000 up fps is half life 2 from 2005/ i wonder if you can unlock framerate to see what these 14k and 4080s can do in a game thats older and well optimised/20k fps? 3 ZEUS-COMING SOON Omen 16 2021 Zenbook 14 oled Vivobook 15x oled

I only do 4k for benchmarks but the above video just shows off a systems total power, over 300fps at 1080p ray tracing/ultra. very impressive indeed. So if a 4080 Super can do the above, just imagine what a mid-range GPU is capable of. Something still very impressive I’m sure. I think if one is gonna running a mid range GPU and 1080P, CPU+RAM helps a lot. 1 1 13900KF
Clamibot
Achieving maximum framerates requires a combination of a fast GPU, a fast CPU (preferably with lots of cache), and the fastest, lowest latency RAM you can get. Throw in some 2nd gen Optane SSDs for super fast loading times and you're golden! I'm definitely hooked on Optane now. I plan on getting some P1600X SSDs in the near future as a P5800X is just way too darn expensive. i wish I could have one of those, but you pay an absolutely insane upcharge for the best technology. Optane scales really well with very fast CPUs. According to my calculations, my 905P will max out at about 355 MB/sec for random reads, the P1600X maxes out at 558 MB/sec for random reads, and the P5800X maxes out at 651 MB/sec for random reads. Currently, the only CPU fast enough to almost max out the 905P's random read is the 13900K, which will get us a random read of around 350 MB/sec (according to reddit users that have this CPU + drive combination). For reference, I get about 256 MB/sec with my 10900K. The P1600X and P5800X will continue to scale with faster CPUs. Eat that NAND! Meanwhile, NAND SSDs will continue dragging their feet in random read/write. Optane is truly going to be our only option for a faster, more snappy system for a while. I've heard some people don't see a difference between Optane vs NAND SSDs, but I think the reason for that is their CPU choice. In this case, your file access times are bottlenecked by your CPU, not the drive. I definitely noticed a difference after swapping from a Samsung 970 Evo Plus to an Optane 905P. 4 1 AlienyHackbook: Alienware M17X R5 | i7-4930MX | GTX 1060 | 32GB DDR3L Kingston HyperX @ 2133 MHz CL 12 | MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 | Windows 10 LTSC | Hackintoshes Rule! Intel Optane is the best. I’m going to get a P5800X still. They are expensive like all get out though. I really want an 800GB as an OS drive, and those are just way too much right now. I almost pulled the trigger on a 400GB P5800X a few times If you want to see a good deal though, go check out the Intel P5801X on eBay. It’s a M.2 style, but uses E1S connectors, these are actually faster than a 5800X and can consume 20+ watts of juice easily. You can run a E1S to PCIe or E1S to M.2 adapter. They also have higher write/read speeds and more IOPS than a traditional U.2 P5800X. They have a massive heatsink attached to keep them cool. There are two sku’s on eBay. “BEF” or “BF1” the BEF is an Engineering sample. BF1 is retail sample. But they are blistering fast and only $460 for a BF1 usually. I’m gonna snag one next week or week after probably, and an adapter. I got side tracked with another hardware purchase, so I held off. PS: If you didn’t know. The E1S connector will essentially be the replacement for M.2 connectors we use now. They are hot swappable, and capable of much higher power draw. Newer enterprise seem to be using this. They are really cool though. I did a lot of research on these below. 1 2 13900KF

Edit: Did the calculations, and the theoretical max random read on this model is 781.25 MB/sec, or about 20% faster than the theoretical max of a P5800X. Hot dang! I also saw there was a P5810X model, which seems to be the 2.5 inch version of ths P5801X.
