yep i turned a blind eye on XMP vs EXPO on purpose, just wanted to let the test results do the talking and see what ill get 🙂

ill ignore the preset profiles anyways and do custom tuning either way, so might as well cast a wide net!

Be sure to also test BIOS defaults. In addition to having trouble booting with BIOS defaults with a few Intel kits, many were not even error free running with BIOS defaults. Once I stopped trying and only bought EXPO kits designed for AMD things got a lot easier.

yep ive actually had this happen on my current kit 😄 the JEDEC profile for my previous 7950X at bios defaults with this TeamGroup kit was at 5200 Mhz and ran error free in TM5 anta777 absolut profile. but now with the 9950X3D the bios defaults to 5600 Mhz and that profile does not run error free! soo my "stock" bios profile is actually underclocked to 5200 mhz on this kit 😛

Very smart done by Jonny Guru and his team mates at Corsair. The new 2025 refresh of the HX1500i continue to have two 2×8 cables on the power supply side of the 12v-2*6 cables. No tiny junk will be connected to the PSU shroud. Clever done. Why change that just works @Mr. Fox?😎

Hmmm. PSUs for more than 1x5090 is the big now. Does this mean Nvidia will produce more 5090s or will gamers have to compete harder with prosumers that fill up their workstations with "cheap"  5090s for AI tasks?

Super Flower shows off not one but two 3000W PSUs at Computex 2025

aight boiz, i just ordered 8 different RAM Kits, lets get this binning party started 😄

all of them 8000+ at 2x24GB, just cant go back to 2x16GB kits anymore even if they might turn out a bit faster in the end. capacity first! 🙂

Ordered from 4 reputable shops so i can be sure there wont be any hassle with regards to returns.

These are the kits I ordered:

8000 Mhz

G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB F5-8000J4048E24GX2-TZ5RK 1.30V (newer SKU)

G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB F5-8000J4048F24GX2-TZ5RK 1.35V (older SKU)

G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB F5-8000J4048G24GX2-TZ5NR

Patriot Memory PVXR548G80C38K

Kingston Fury KF580C36RLAK2-48

Lexar ARES Gen2 RGB LD5U24G80C40BR-RGD

8200 Mhz

G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB F5-8200J4052F24GX2-TZ5RK

8400 Mhz

G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB SP-8400J4052G24GX2-TZ5RK

i left out any kits that didnt offer black versions (gold / silver / white aint my thing) and also skipped CKD kits (currently not supported on AM5).

i have a RAM profile saved with max voltages and loose timings, so will just test that and check what the highest attainable frequency is for each kit, so should go pretty fast. ill start at 7600, since my current setup can already do 7400 stable.

my current RAM kit for context: TeamGroup T-Force DELTA RGB FF3D548G8200HC38EDC01 8200 Mhz 2x24 GB

Whoa! Go big or go home! 🤣

Interesting that you purchased some Intel XMP kits instead of exclusively EXPO. I have had poor results attempting to use XMP memory on AMD. Even booting using the default memory profile has been hit or miss and custom tuning a bit more cumbersome. Something is different at the firmware level.

Look forward to seeing your results.

I've tried about 6 kits now and while XMP only kits worked a lot easier on my MSI and Asrock boards than Asus, I did find EXPO/XMP cert kits were less problematic on the Hero overall.

True, I think all of us in here manually tune our memory and CPUs.

Double check Asus NA warranty and make sure a product in Canada can use Asus warranty in the States.

He hasn't opened it yet, so you have no idea what bin is in there. Astrals can be duds too topping out at sub 1075 or the rare chance of not hitting +3000. As we've seen some can not even idle check at >3300. I, personally, would have him open and test/verify the card with results before doing anything. @tps3443 has a decent sample on top of that IMHO that has a healthy 1075 top, idle checks to 3400+ and can hit +3000. Nevermind the potential coil whine (not sure @tps3443 cares about that).

And in NO way am I biased and want to see an FE properly blocked, chilled and shunted....nope not at all! 🤣 No siree!! 🤣

Only unknown on @tps3443's sample is the coil whine, but just about everyone I've crossed paths with sings like a canary >150fps+ but we all know I'm extra OCD about coil whine....

In my defense, I DID pace myself over several months....

....but....

.....yeah....

🤣

I'm probably going to order a few more since I've sold off all my weaker sets and my last set of 6400 sticks is going into a system of other parts to sell off (12700kf, 3080, 32gb 6400 ddr5, etc...).

Right now, I'm fighting the urge to pick up a 9950X3D to properly take advantage of 8000+ with the dual CCD.....

True, I've sometimes picked up multiples of whatever I'm testing/upgrading in the moment....
