The laptop is still a monster to say the least but my requirements have surpassed the capabilities of the 2080 super which is why I am moving to a Lenovo Legion 7 Pro with AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D + 96 GB RAM + RTX 5080. Sad to abandon this beast though, since it still looks like a brand new machine (always used with external mouse and keyboard) and the RGB is still gorgeous + body is scratchless and the battery backup is still like it is brand new. But hey, we have to move on in life eventually. Memories of notebookreview forum created a bit of nostalgia for me when buying the new machine (in white color this time) It looks like I'll be able to sell the KM-G machine and its many parts, accessories and everything else for a very good price. Since I've already switched to an RTX 5090 machine, it's also fully water-cooled, like the SM/KM-G was, so I don't need it anymore and it's at least 3x better (faster) ◄►Medion Erazer Beast 16 X1 Ultimate►+Water System►i9-275HX/96GB/4TB/nV RTX 5090 24GB/RTL 2.5GBLan <---Slayer Of Desktops & Desktop Killer---> ◄►Clevo® X170SM-G / KM-G►+AIO Water System►i7-11700K/128GB/8TB/nV RTX 3080 16GB MXM►Killer 2.5GBLan►Win10/11 x64 Pro►LG®OLED55C4 4K/144Hz G-Sync◄►**
Snowleopard Posted July 5 Posted July 5 I need a donor X170-SM-G for parts to repair mine, not looking for a working one, just a cheap parts machine. I don't want to pay Eurocom $25 each for 4 sets of screws and $50 shipping to the US and any other parts I might need so I am looking for a dead parts machine if anyone has one sitting around or knows of any. I only saw KM-G's on ebay and alot of those parts are slightly different than the SM-G.

I reverted back to one of the i7 laptops I have from 2012 that still has replacable parts. I am going to try and hold out on a new performance laptop , I really don't know how they can be called performance laptops with mobile CPU and a max 55w CPU. Tablets will be more powerful than that eventually. Since computers are just money dumps with worse depreciation than a car. I am not going to upgrade till PCI-6.x , DDR6 and 128gb or 256gb so-dimms come out. No more over priced paper weights with BGA. Maybe they will come with 17 or 18 inch OLED 8K 240Hz screens then too. Who knows. So I guess that will be around 2028-2030 so 2-4 years out. 1

I sold it because I needed an upgrade. I don't regret it! It has factory water cooling and all the extras. Very good machine. Quiet and cool. I recommend it to everyone. SuperMG Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Hello. I tried the RTX 4070, RTX 3080 from X-VSION with the backlight mod v2. Backlight is enabled and brightness could be controlled. But, both of the GPUs are cold, not hot. The laptop boots but displays nothing. However these GPUs work in my M17X R4 120Hz and P775TM1. The VBIOS is in UEFI and the DP/EDP are set in DP_D. What is the issue? I use 1.07.04 bios. For the other laptops I have, they use the default BIOS, no modded ones. I tried to clear the BIOS settings by holding the power button for 60s with the CMOS battery being unplugged. I tried to do FN+D+Power. Nothing. However this laptop had a Clevo RTX 3080 MXM and it worked, displayed. Or is the motherboard 100% dead? Since the dual channel on this doesn't work. Can the PCH impact the PCIE PEG functionality? Did anyone try a Clevo GTX MXM or a standard MXM 3.0 card for testing? If yes, did it work? Will a X170KM motherboard work better? Why did the 3080 Clevo MXM work but not the 3080 from X-VSION? Makes no sense. Edited 2 hours ago by SuperMG
