Does anyone know the size of the 2080 or 2080 Super GPU/chip?

What the paste gets would be interested.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

Anyone had issues with a display glitch, happened last night when I was playing a game.  I will attach an image which I hope is clear, I have updated drivers.  Is there anything else to try or the GPU struggling?

Is there anything in particular that you noticed caused this to happen?

I'd say if not, first try and check to see if the display cable is plugged in all the way. Sometimes the connectors can come loose on laptop screens. There's the end that plugs into the motherboard and the one that plugs into the screen.

The end that plugs into the screen will be a pain to check as the screen is glued into the housing instead of screwed in, so hopefully that's not the issue. I broke my X170's original screen when trying to remove it and had to replace it.

I was just gaming and wasn't doing anything like moving the laptop around and just noticed some lines as per screenshot.

I hope that is the issue via the motherboard and I agree not looking forward to dismantling the display to check a cable.

I sent the laptop to a local IT guy and he replaced my QHD 165hz display to a 240hz one which has fixed the issue but I have lost G-Sync not sure how to get that back.  Tried reinstalling Nvidia drivers and Googled that potentially updating the latest Bios (my current BIOS Version/Date    INSYDE Corp. 1.07.08RTR1, 04/03/2022) may help but not sure as never updated it on this laptop before.

Unfortunately the way G-Sync works on laptops isn't like how it works with desktop monitors. For G-Sync to work on laptop monitors, you must use specific model panels with the G-Sync chip in them, AND the laptop firmware has to support that model, AND the driver has to support that configuration. It's pretty stupid since with desktop monitors, you just plug a device in, and G-Sync (or freesync) just work, so universal compatibility is possible, it's just that the laptop hardware was deliberately engineered to not support G-Sync on ann G-Sync compatible panels.

Personally though, I wouldn't worry too much about it. G-Sync and AMD' Freesync are gimmicks. You'd want to run games at your monitor's max refresh rate anyway for maximum visual fluidity, so the refresh rate syncing tech doesn't really offer much value. If you find you can't run games at your screen's max refresh rate, you can use something like Custom Resolution Utility to create a native resolution profile with a lower refresh rate that you can easily match in games. You can do this through Nvidia Control Panel as well.

That's just me though, I prefer a static refresh rate and framerate. Variable refresh rates irk me because it looks uneven.

For Gsync to work on laptops you need 3 things combo to be present in the same time as per gsync cookie in laptop bios.

1. Gsync aproved display.

2. Gsync Gpu.

3. The right Cpu.

I spoke to the IT guy, he gave the serial number to his supplier and thought it was the correct panel but it was actually 240hz one which he didn't know.  I don't think the 240hz is supported as it was never listed in the custom list when I bought the laptop.

Hi guys,

I just bought a used X170KM. It came with a 32 gb single channel 3200hz. I bought another one (same brand, size, speed and voltage), and the system kept BSOD. I remove the ram stick and it works fine.

I have tested both rams and they are both ok. Problems only happens when I put them both together.

Not sure what is the solution here. I'm aware that the KM has ram issue, but only when using all 4 slots.

I have only used 2 slots (the ones next to NVME slots)

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Regards

With Intel 10 works up to 4 x32 Gb at 3200 MHz .

It will never work beacuse that combo is not present in the gsync cookie in the laptop bios. It was never validated by NGreedia in that configuration.

No probs, thank you.  The 240hz does seem nicer and brighter and was more expensive than the 165hz so trade off indeed.

QHD is a nice resolution, very glad I switched to that from FHD!

With a few custom refresh rates you should be good to go and there will be no need to increase power consumption / heat over your previous panel. Something like 180/120/90/60Hz should be good for covering 99.9% of titles out there at QHD resolution.

Has anyone got Throttlestop to work on Windows 11?  I have upgraded so to speak and followed guides to disable VBS as suggested from unclewebb but seems to be running still via System Information.

Which version do you use?

I am running something like 9.4 on my W10 systems that also have W11.

I have only run it with up to Comet Lake though, which CPU do you have?

The latest version I believe is 9.6 which is what I am running now if downgrading fixes it then great.

My CPU is 11600k.

Edit:  finally got it to work by using the command prompt method and restarted now operating as it should.

Great to hear! I usually only have one Throttlestop folder on dual system (W10/W11) installations and for everything up to Comet Lake it has been Throttlestop 9.4. I never experienced any issues but then I mostly skipped Rocket Lake as more cores were more important to me than IPC gains.

Hi All!

I am about to buy a x170km-g, however it has 4k display. I would use it mainly for gaming, so I need to replace to a FHD high refresh screen. Could anyone help, what 1080p screen x170km has which are gsync compatible? (original types)

Thanks

But gsync works? Any panel could be put in, even 4k 144hz, however only original screen will support gsync.
