I'm really not sure. The sales guy couldn't speak english and my limited Japanese doesn't include words like Asymmetrical bandwidth.

It comes bundled with my mobile phone and wifi router and its pretty cheap compared to back in Australia :classic_biggrin:

that is fast . i knew i was goingto be the one with the worst speeds. but it was worst when on copper..  i wonder if wired increases mine a bit.

Hotspot 5g mobile, travelling, currently in Norway, French roaming sim.
So a 'far away' + "all the way back" test. And 'only' 66 ping, which is of no concern.
Lots more than needed, and the evolution from not that long ago!, was more like 30\5.

Quick & dirty test using the one in Google gives me this for my WIFI.

The connection is 1gbps fibre so should be a lot faster but the router is getting old, its pre-pandemic hardware so at least 5 or 6 years old now, and there's a couple of walls in the way. Not sure why the asymmetry, think its not always like that.

I've actually got a newer router or two still sitting unboxed on the shelf and I'm too lazy to go set it up.

Just a weird thing. This is on my AW17 with original Broadcom 802 wifi adapter.

When I change from 5G to 2G I get a much better result (same server)

(I also noted at some point windows had decided to reinstall IPv6 and QOS crap (I normally jettison them))

Laptop, via Ethernet:

283 Mbps down

54 Mbps up

31 ms ping

Laptop, via WiFi (802.11ac dual-band, Asus AC-1750, apartment complex):

47 Mbps down

53 Mbps up

31 ms ping

Desktop (2011) via Ethernet:

287 Mbps down

54 Mbps up

31 ms ping

My theoretical maximum is 343.04 Mbps, due to the 8 downstream channels in my DOCSIS 3.0 modem.  I'm on a 500 down/50 up plan, even though that exceeds my theoretical maximum download speed, because the next step down took the upload speeds down to 10 Mbps.

What's interesting is that most of the time, I'm using WiFi and don't even notice that it's one-fifth of the download speeds.  No difference on the Internet, Steam updates usually still download in a couple of minutes during which I can check the news or a forum or take care of some small task around the house.  If I'm downloading a big new game or doing a large file transfer over the intranet, I can hook up the Ethernet, which is a tripping hazard, but it's been a few months, until this thread, since I did that.

for your 6e connection you can try changing channels on the router, will bump in to 1200 ish maybe higher. I have the same speed here in canada. my igloo has 1.5gbs and 160 up. I have wifi 7 setup with the be200 adaptor i picked up for 60 on amazon, super finicky getting the two antenna buttons on as they are like microscopic but after the fiddling it is much faster.

Testing wireless with MSI AXE6600 fun fact Wifi 6E can't be found from all Intel Wireless Adapters after the last Windows and Driver Updates and therefore just WiFi 6 testet. The AXE6600 is in AP Mode.

Wired Connection was set directly to the ISP Router.
