Sandy Bridge
These have been out for a couple of weeks now... is anyone turning their processor model up over 9000? I think I saw that their AVX512 performance is hugely improved over Ryzen 7000, otherwise I'm not sure how much the uplift is? From the reviews I saw it seems like their TDP is significantly lower but their power use is actually pretty similar in practice? Definitely curious if that's the general trend or perhaps motherboard-setting dependent. I'm back on the notebook train though, so unless I have a need for more power, I'll probably be sticking with my 5800H for a while. saturnotaku
Lots of shady marketing around these CPUs. I'll be holding on to my 5600X3D a while longer unless the rumored 7600X3D comes to pass at a reasonable price. D2ultima
Standard AMD marketing practice, tbh. I still remember them "comparing" to intel chips with hyperthreading off and single channel memory around the launch of one of their Zen lines. Absurdities is their de facto standard when it comes to marketing. Default reminder once again to all: companies are not your friends and you should only buy the best product for your use case within your budget means. Brand loyalty only makes a fool out of you. 1 1 I have a desktop now! i5-13600K @ 5.2GHz || ASUS Strix Z690-F || RTX 3080 FE 10GB (+175MHz/+1100MHz daily driver) || 32GB 6000MHz 38-38-38-77 || AK620 CPU cooler || XV272U V 1440p 170Hz || Fractal Design Pop Air || WD Black SN850X 2TB

D2ultima
On the plus side, Wukong's benchmark tool doesn't crash on me, so the full game probably won't crash. I guess microcode 104 and 2022 BIOS still winning out here and no CPU degrade Now if I could only use the intel APO driver too without any updates that'd be great 1 I have a desktop now! i5-13600K @ 5.2GHz || ASUS Strix Z690-F || RTX 3080 FE 10GB (+175MHz/+1100MHz daily driver) || 32GB 6000MHz 38-38-38-77 || AK620 CPU cooler || XV272U V 1440p 170Hz || Fractal Design Pop Air || WD Black SN850X 2TB
saturnotaku
The Zen 5 rabbit hole gets deeper, with Windows 11 24H2 offering some pretty big performance uplifts in certain games. Though these improvements apply to Zen 4 and apparently Zen 3 as well. 2 1 Desktop: Ryzen 5 5600X3D | 32 GB RAM | GeForce RTX 3080 | 4 TB SSD | Windows 11 Gigabyte Aorus 16X: Core i7-14650HX | 32 GB RAM | GeForce RTX 4070 | 1 TB SSD | Windows 11 Lenovo IdeaPad 3 Gaming: Ryzen 7 6800H | 16 GB RAM | GeForce RTX 3050 | 512 GB SSD | Windows 11 Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro: Ryzen 5 5600U | 16 GB RAM | Radeon Graphics | 512 GB SSD | Windows
cylix
Quote If you're patiently waiting for Windows 11's 24H2 update to see a performance bump for your Zen 3, Zen 4, or Zen 5 CPU, you no longer need to twiddle your thumbs. In a statement to Tom's Hardware, AMD said that the branch prediction optimizations allowing for those improvements have been backported to Windows 11 23H2. The update, KB5041587, can be found under Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates. "We expect the performance uplift to be very similar between 24H2 and 23H2 with KB5041587 installed," an AMD spokesperson said. https://www.tomshardware.com/software/windows/microsoft-backports-branch-prediction-improvements-to-windows-11-23h2-more-users-will-see-ryzen-performance-improvements 3 1 7950X3D| Zotac 4090 AMP Extreme Airo| MSI MPG B650 Edge Wifi| Lian Li Galahad 360 V2| 32GB Kingston Renegade RGBZ 6000|Kingston KC3000 2TB| Fury Renegade 2TB|Samsung 970 Evo 1TB| Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo| Corsair HX1500i| Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo Asus Zephyrus G15 (Ryzen 9 6900HS + RTX3080)
