Papusan
You actually don't own the games you’re purchasing. You rent them. Exactly same as in the old days when you rented video movies in the video-stores in the old days. So stop saying it's an bargain purchase if you find a cheap game key. You only have it on loan until the greedy companies throw the game features down the drain. Do you own or rent your games bro @Mr. Fox @ryan? When will everything you buy in any stores or on the web be seen as a license/rented item? The future seems grim. Potential problems surrounding digital sales of games in particular have begun to receive more attention recently, not least here at SweClockers where Fredrik Eriksson recently requested legal requirements to preserve old games. Steam now explicitly states you don't own the digital games you're buying In clear terms, Steam wants you to know that you're actually buying a "license" to access its digital content. Some digital services are already adapting to the new regulations, which aren’t set to be enforced until next year. Steam is one such company, having already implemented a change in the Steam storefront that explicitly notifies customers that they’re purchasing “a license for the product on Steam” and don’t actually own the game outright. And they need to protect their profits at all costs.... The more greedy publishers, game stores and developers become... Expect more piracy. Piracy can reduce sales revenues by 20%, a sizable loss for publishers and developers Read more: https://www.tweaktown.com/news/101036/piracy-can-reduce-sales-revenues-by-20-sizable-loss-for-publishers-and-developers/index.html 1 3 "The Killer" ASUS ROG Z790 Apex Encore | 14900KS | 4090 HOF + 20 other graphics cards | 32GB DDR5 | Be Quiet! Mr. Fox
A nasty-finger salute goes out to all companies that behave in this manner, which is most of them. I wish them all only the worst of everything. Clamibot
My personal policy regarding this matter is to buy the games I want so it pays the devleopers who wrote the game, then I download a cracked version that I can play forever (if necessary) and add that to my vault of offline backups. No moral issue here since I already paid for the game. I'm simply downloading a backup copy that will work forever. As a game dev myself, I have absolutely no problem with people doing that with my games. Fortunately not all games have DRM, so this process isn't necessary for all games. I don't use DRM on my games and never will. It doesn't even prevent piracy so why bother? People who don't want to buy things will never pay for that item. No reason to make things harder for everyone else. DRM is more of a headache than it's worth as it negatively affects honest customers. 2 1 3 AlienyHackbook: Alienware M17X R5 | i7-4930MX | GTX 1060 | 32GB DDR3L Kingston HyperX @ 2133 MHz CL 12 | MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 | Windows 10 LTSC | Hackintoshes Rule! This really highlights the importance of demos, and I'm not really sure why those mostly went away. After my boss decided we should start offering demos for our games, we got a significant bump in sales. It didn't even require that much effort to make the demos. 2 AlienyHackbook: Alienware M17X R5 | i7-4930MX | GTX 1060 | 32GB DDR3L Kingston HyperX @ 2133 MHz CL 12 | MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 | Windows 10 LTSC | Hackintoshes Rule! I did a survey for GOG a while ago and said that without a demo version I don't buy a game just on the trailer. I want to test game play. I think demos went away with magazine (hardcopy) cds 2 Thunderchild // Lenovo Legion Y740 17" i7-9750H rtx2080maxQ win10 RainBird // Alienware 17 (Ranger) i7-4910mq gtx860m win8.

Mr. Fox
It should be mandatory that all games include a free demo and built-in benchmark. Then I'd rarely ever buy games. A good number of games I have in my Steam, EA, Epic and Ubisoft libraries were acquired on sale for $25 or less only because they have a benchmark tool and I've never actually played them because they don't interest me in the least. When I do buy games, I always look to see if it is available from GOG first, then download the offline installers. DRM-free is the only way to fly. I love BF2042, but every time I play it having to temporarily re-enable DSE makes me angry. They need to keep their noses out of our business. 3 Wraith // Z790 Apex | 14900KS | 4090 Suprim X+Byksi Block | 48GB DDR5-8600 | Toughpower GF3 1650W | MO-RA3 360 | Hailea HC-500A || O11D XL EVO Banshee // X870E Carbon | 9950X | 4090 Gaming OC+Alphacool Block | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1200x SHIFT | XT45 1080 Nova || Antec C8 Spectre // Z790i Edge | 13900KS | 3090 Ti FTW3 | 32GB DDR5-8200 | RM1000e | EK Nucleus CR360 Direct Die || Prime A21 Half-Breed // Dell Precision 7720 | BGA CPU Filth+MXM Quadro P5000 | 4K Display | Sub-$500 Grade A Refurb | Nothing to Write Home About Mr. Fox YouTube Channel | Mr. Fox @ HWBOT The average response time for a 911 call is 10 minutes. I used to buy all kinds of games back in the day. in the early/mid 80s I was addicted to "quest" games from sierra. all of those were 79.99 canadian back then. Do the math and its around 202.00 today. I have all of them stashed away somewhere here. DIfference is I had floppy disks and later cd copies of these games. Today, you just have a digital copy and when they see fit, they turn it off. Just like Apple did with Aperture when I spent 350 bucks on it digitally and they cancelled it. I had no way to re install the software I purchased. I was not happy. One of the reasons I will never purchase another apple PC. They are famous for charging customers then just cancelling software etc. 2 Workstation - Dell XPS 8940 - desktop creative powerhouse Mobile Workstation - Dell inspiron 5406 2 in 1 - mobile creative beast Wifey's Notebook - Dell inspiron 3169 - Little gem for our businesses
