Clevo Z170 with QTJ1 - compatible memory speeds?

Got QTJ1 working on my P775DM3 with "ME_Disabled" dsanke bios.

But the issue is that it won't post even with a single 2666Mhz 18CL stick, only 2400Mhz stick.

I've seen people saying that QTJ1 supports up to 2666Mhz, some were saying 3000Mhz. On reddit one user claims that the ones with the lid on can do up to 3600Mhz.

Other folks with mutant cpus - can you share memory speed and timings tweaking advice?

Ram can clock a lot higher if you populate all slots on the channel. With a 9900K I can do 2933 with 2 modules, but with 4 I can do 3466.

With that said, only being able to do 2400 sounds low. It sounds like you're using very old DDR4 sticks. Something newer rated for 3200 will clock much better. If the 3200 can't boot at defaults, you can boot with the 2400 stick, set say 2933, then switch the sticks and the 2933 override will stay in place despite the stick change.

I have a QTJ1 as well... my max is 2133MHz unfortunately :((( apparently Samsung RAM modules can clock higher usually but it's a problem with the cpu, they have really bad memory controllers. @grisevg I have the same exact setup as you, I would honestly test using memtest86 and see if even 2400MHz is stable :)) For me it wasnt. Also when it comes to timings, just relax the cl a tiny bit and see if that fixes anything. Before touching any other timings I mean :))

The process of figuring out what the hell was wrong with my laptop crashing once every hour was extremely frustrating honestly, I just had to accept that I'm gonna have to live with trash RAM speed

Very funny that you literally described my thoughts from 3 months ago perfectly :))

@grisevg I think you are referring to this:

Looks like there are different versions of the QTJ1 with one significantly worse than the other but I guess it is hard to exactly know what one is getting as all of them are after market modifications. How is your turbo and non turbo clock speed and can you unlock it and get higher turbo clocks?

If this is a 10980HK it should have no problem going up to 5.0 GHz all cores and 5.1 GHz single core although for your chassis something like 4.4 to 4.8 GHz all core sounds more reasonable.

In any case if those were "real" 10980HK the memory speeds would be a lot higher so that points to these being engineering samples which should also show up in significantly lower turbo and base clock speeds.
