MSI GT77

VEGGIM

Recommended Posts

Any owner having issue with they keyboard getting stuck-frozen? Last letter keeps repeating forever, no button reacts. Sometimes reconnecting bluetooth mouse or keyboard (on/off) solves it, otherwise just quick sleep by closing the lid and reopening.
So to me it looks like driver issue, but it started happening out of nowhere, happens super frequently.

Have no idea what to reinstall.

Would you guys recommend for roughly £2800 with following specs GT77HX-008ES 64 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 i9-13980HX 2 TB 2 TB SSD?

As BGA books go It is a very good / the only choice if you need more than two SSDs and/or 96GB memory and a very bright screen and I doubt the price will go down that much more. The mechanical keyboard also is very nice although the GT75 keyboard still is king of the hill imo.

As is often the case MSI is also good for undervolting and overclocking of the CPU. One caveat is that this is very deep which will make it a difficult fit for most backpacks.

The price is very tempting though, normally over 3k and sometimes over 4k.

There is a "gt78" with 18 inch 4k 16:10 coming at ces next month. One less SSD slot but it does finally have a four row number pad again similar to the ge77 keyboard layout.

Clevo X170SM - 10900K, 32GB DDR4-2933 CL17, 4TB WD SN850X, RTX 3080 mobile, 17.3 inch FHD 144hz, System76 open source firmware, Windows 10 Pro 22H2

Clevo X370SNW - 13900HX, 64GB DDR5-5600 CL40, 4TB Samsung 990 Pro, RTX 4090 mobile, 17.3 inch UHD 144hz, System76 open source firmware, Windows 10 Pro 22H2

MSI pricing is crazy at the moment, that'll probably cost well into 5k mark.

5400usd MSRP from what I saw on hidevolution for 14900hx, 4090. Oh but guess what it has a single 400w PSU so maybe they are a bit beyond the 330W limit on the current generation.

Even more in the UK, looks solid though!

Behold the Titan 18 HX, 4 memory slots, 4 SSD slots:

Great color combination - I guess MSI is making sure that nobody would mistake it for a workstation...

UK price will probably be close to double what @wilpang is asked for that GT77 HX.

Interesting link about the combined power delivery for the GT77 HX 13V.

With the right bios is apparently can be a bit more than 330W combined for CPU and GPU:

Being able to pull over 150W from the CPU instead of a measly 75W (175 + 75) seems highly preferable but I would also want a good cooling pad with some Noctua fans and a bigger power adapter to go with it as otherwise these will be very loud and very short gaming sessions!

Hi to owners of the GT77,

Have you had issues with the software side?  Certain apps don't work properly or they start but not be stable afterwards and I struggle to uninstall.  My browsers wouldn't search for example, Chrome/Firefox/Edge and settings hang sometimes!

@1610ftw has assisted me with the SSD side but can't enjoy the machine and trying to set stuff up to use it normally.

Edit:  sorted, used the original SSD as my main drive and now stable.
