Wow did you just unlocked Dynamik boost 😳

It has always been there. I was just too stupid to check. But in my defense MSI Afterburner GUI had 0 representation of that it can go over 100. I always saw it there, but thought it goes only backwards and not forwards aswell.

It wasn't until I downloaded EVGA Precision that I finally realised that TDP slider actually can go to 110% which just forces the extra 15W at all times. 🤦‍♂️ But it's as one other forum user said, better late than never! =D

I can already see performance increase that wasn't possible before, almost broke 14000 on GPU side.

Superposition has huge boost. Especially the Minimum FPS. This is with +130 Core and +250 Memory. Same was for Time Spy.

Nice discover buddy 👍

The clevo x170 reaches around 14419 gpu on timespy so you almost there...

But also my German friend soldered some

Capacitors,or resistors on empty points on x170 rtx 3080(I don't know right now exactly but I will ask him again) To get more stability..mybe that will help you even more if you could do something like that later...

please do, as this applies to all Gpus not only 3080. It will be nice to have an input on the stability/performance increase, and also ask him for pics pls.

This is something I had in my plans aswell! He is probably talking about the POSCAPS. There are plenty of empty spaces for more POSCAPS. I wasn't sure where to source identical ones as there are on right now. It seems they haven't changed from RTX 2080 to RTX 3080 but I don't want to take them off of my working RTX 2080.

About resistors I wouldn't be too sure. But for future, could add POSCAPS to empty pads and do shunt mod for maybe 180W or something along those lines.

If I could squeeze 15000 on Time Spy with this card I would be truly happy with it. But thats just a dream for now =D

Yea you right it was something about, that he soldered them with 330uf POSCAPS now it he gets more stability on 1900mhz+ core clock's...lets see I will ask more detailed...

Are you sure they were 330uf? And what voltage? If I knew I would order them myself and post the results.

he told me now its the same 330uf POSCAPS from the mobile gtx 1070 😉

Or can we use the 470uf ones from gtx 1080?

But he does not overclock his 3080 so take care guys...

I do overclock mine =D

But the Time Spy and Superposition benchmarks shouldn't be taken at face value because, for whatever reason when the GPU is utilised 100% the +130 on core is stable on Time Spy and other benchmarks. However while playing Escape From Tarkov for example, because of the game either being poorly optimised or hitting CPU limit the GPU is just barely getting out from idle state and the clocks shoot as high as 1950MHz which make it crash after maybe 20min of gameplay and some fluctuations.

I tried fixing this with a custom V-F curve but I don't really have full understanding of it so no luck for now. So far in real life scenarios 105MHz on core is stable for me. So Time Spy and Superposition scores should be less than what I showed before. If somebody is interested in these scores let me know I can redo it.

Good news is that the extra 15W is not at all a problem for the GPU thermally. There has to be some either mounting issue with the CPU or something like that. Because the CPU thermals are out of control while the GPU is very comfortable with the AliExpress heatsink. I think bare die would fix absolutely everything but I am not sure if its possible.

He said they are not rly safe so he decided to save way with 330uf POSCAPS...

Does he know what voltage are they rated for? And maybe the physical size dimensions? If I were to order from let say like Mouser Electronics or some other electronics site?

interesting story buddy...i can ask him again but you could buy a faulty 1070 and take the POSCAPS..

bdw he also using 775tm1g, i tought he owns x170 sry about that..but he also have two 330w power sup...

because for some reason after having some shut downs on some games likes assasinscreed unity..
gpu and cpu was also not balanced somehow he said...i could not understand what he rly means but whatever..
and also he scores more on benchmarks after connecting the second power sup....

Yeah, the second PS stabilized my Vram O/C, but not forget I am using RTX 2080 200W and in my case 2x330W is a must!;)

Got new best results in RAM OC. I don't think I can possibly push my sticks more. Now just need to get thermals under control. Or find better binned sticks in general.
