Still testing but getting better scores . At 5 ghz the single core is a bit above 600  but puts out to much heat lol .

My plan is to de lid the CPU . Put better compound on it and 5ghz all core . Regardless the QTJ1 is still a nice CPU

What memory clocks is it reaching? Mine is kinda trash, won't do anything past 2133Mhz. The process of finding out was a real pain. Does anyone know the exact process to reset the cmos without removing the battery? It does say Fn+D should do that but it works 1/100 times it seems :))))

Mine hits 2666 with 3 ram sticks in . Don't ask why lol but I'm betting with the right ram if get 2933 and sadly that's one of the only ways I've found to reset cmos aside from removing a ram stick which then makes the system retrain and boot

One thing . The cache on these is set at 21x so 2.1ghz . I bumped mine to 4.0 made a noticeable improvement

Noticeable improvement to the ram speed achievable? Or just overall cpu performance? Once I get a new working GPU I'll try it :)) If I ever do :)))

Both . Even at 2666 it feels better and loading programs is just snappier

You need EDP card, LVDS wont start.

I managed to score a 1060 for a steal, and now the laptop is alive !! Now there is another issue :((.

I am having issues installing the QTJ1 Processor.

Once I install QTJ1, laptop won't boot. power button will light up and fan spin for 1 second, then dead.

Tried many RAM sticks (I heard SK Hynix 2133 works well, I bought and tried them), no avail

Reinstalling i5 9600KF: It boots just fine

Bios Ver: P870TM-0511-9900KS

Did I miss a step somewhere? Or perhaps I received a Faulty QTJ1

U sure u got the right bios? You need to flash a bios with Intel ME disabled (I know Runix sent dsanke with ME disabled in some thread, you can easily find it).

EDIT: You already flashed it before so you dont need this, but I'll leave it in in case somebody else needs it :))) Im really dumb and lack reading capabilities sorry :)))
You can either do this with the previous cpu in and reflash the bios that way (I forget what the program used to do it is called, I think there are several anyway. I found mine in a post from dsanke himself on some chinese forum and downloaded all the stuff i needed from a baidu cloud drive 🙂 was really weird but it worked), or with a SOIC clip. Or there is also a way to do it with a usb drive but I never got that working 😞

Also I have a question myself... where the hell do yall find cheap MXM cards? All I can find is really really expensive :)))

I got lucky with a cheap 1060 mxm listing on Ebay

Update on my situation!!

I finally managed to get QTJ1 working on my P870, and here's how I did it (in case anyone is having the same issue).

Download a BIOS modding software called Coffeetime

My BIOS version (P870TM-0511-9900KS) actually didn't have ME disabled, you can use coffeetime to check and disable ME.

After disabling ME, flash BIOS using ch341a programmer, and everything was A OK.

QTJ1 running at stock clocks, core and cache -185mv undervolt, stable and mid 80s when full load with custom fan curve.

Ram won't go past 2400MHz (im using 2x8GB 2133 SK Hynix Ram)

Next upgrade on my list is adding a 3080 and upgrading the GPU heatsink.

Any recommendations?

if QTJ1 cpu up to 3200MHZ ram ... then it will be a v.good cpu upgrade so 9900kf cpu is the best upgrade for P870

It depends on how lucky you are :)) Some do get good memory controllers on them and get them up to 2900 or 3200 :))

it's a bug upgrade in my opinion

I upgraded from a 7700K to a QTJ1 and it was more than worth it... The CPU is almost twice as fast :))  Even tho I had to bump down my RAM from 2400 -> 2133 MHz, it was still worth it. Just a bit of a bummer that I couldn't get faster RAM speed :)))
