You can always tell by the vias! Sure, lines are often routed directly onto inner layers. My board has 12 layers and it was already very tight. It all resulted from the resulting geometry of the board!!!

I just wanted to say that you can see it when you look at Port! But you need good eyesight. Anyway, we don't need to fill the thread with too much information like that. I think for most people, it's the results that count.

This allows the GTX10xx/RTX20xx/RTX20xxSuper/RTX30xx MXM series from Clevo to fit better. The standard MXM cards from other manufacturers will also fit into the P870DMG. That means the RTX40xx/RTX50xx series! With the latter, it may take a little more effort to get them to run properly in the P870DMG! 1 1

That's no problem, there is a desktop card that you can choose and that fits well. The RTX5070 Ti and RTX 5080 are quite suitable. The RTX5070Ti is the best choice and offers a good compromise between gaming and power consumption!

Since several cards are compatible and I have only tested one prototype, I used standard cooling. First, I would need to find a good card or make a list. Then I can implement water cooling. That shouldn't be too difficult, because in the end it's just small copper heat sinks for GPU dies and MOSFETs. First, the new MXM adapter boards are ready and need to be tested after assembly. For me, the problem was resolution and frequency. Hopefully, that will be fixed soon. If everything works, my MXM adapter will be fully compatible with the P870xx!!! I also modified the power board a bit to achieve good performance in the P870xx. Many Nvidia, AMD, and Intel cards will then work! Scruffy Posted December 27, 2025 Posted December 27, 2025 most of the shunt gpu mod killed the bga in long term use. i wouldnt do that. u can try oc the gpu core based on the optimal vcore. it's much better to have a stable notebook then a faster one 🙂

And don’t forget the gpu vbios can handel 165w with Nvidia old drivers

However, you did an amazing job and completed the most difficult part, which is transferring the signal and data from the GPU to the internal screen using an MXM adapter. This is truly the hardest part of the process. You are a legend, and you have all my respect and appreciation, my friend, for this great effort. I hope to be one of the first buyers of this project once it’s completed
Scruffy Posted December 28, 2025 Posted December 28, 2025 problem with shunt mod is not temperature related. it give the gpu more current , regardless of the manufacturer standard. for silicon propriety, more current u give in long term, more it will need in the future. for esample, now gpu will need 0,8volt 100A. after 2 years it will need 0,82volt and 102A. with shunt mod u give gpu 1.1volt and 120A. after 2 year it will need to stay stable at same clock with first shunt mod install 1,2volt and 130A. after a while the bga will not work even with much more overvolting. there are a lots of discussion and video on yt about shunt mod vga failure.
