I believe this will accelerate your wonderful project and extend the life of the P870 for many more years! I heartily encourage you to support the Developer79 project! It's doing something laptop manufacturers don't want and probably never will do with laptops. Best regards. Dariusz Hello Darius, Thank you very much again for your help with the graphics card. It has now arrived and looks like new!!! Now I can build it in peace and implement this card in the P870xx. 1. I'll measure the PCB for the DisplayPort channels and route the cables. 2. Design the brackets for the card. 3. Develop cooling—water or vapor chamber. Let's see what ideas I come up with. Best regards, Ralf 1 1

It's supposed to be a synchronization technology, but I think that if the graphics card, display, and CPU are good, this technology isn't really necessary. Sure, you can talk about personal preferences, but I think that's all it is! I'm also testing G-Sync for desktop cards. I took this possibility into account when developing my MXM board. I'll get back to you on this topic. 1
Developer79 Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Hi, I took apart the RTX5070Ti to measure the DisplayPort cables. On the PCB, you can clearly see how the DisplayPort channels are routed, and the manufacturers pay close attention to the routing of the channels! The chip also looks like new! Thanks again to Darius! 1 2
Developer79 Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Hi, this is what the RTX5070Ti looks like in the P870xx! I've now measured all the lengths and will be able to make the cables soon... I'll do the routing soon, I mean! best regards 1 3

Since I do everything myself and currently have less time, everything is taking a little longer. I would like to have the cables ready by the end of the month. Everything else is still in progress. As I said, I'm not a big company with a huge budget. I develop as I have money and time.

That's right—that's how it's all set up. This allows you to use the laptop's existing cables, so you don't have to worry about that.... It might be hard to see from above, but there are two rows. That means, depending on the GPU's performance level, you can connect two cables and utilize the full GPU power of the P870xx—up to 450W! 2
Developer79 Posted yesterday at 08:43 AM Posted yesterday at 08:43 AM For example, I use an Nvidia A400 at work. You could install that as well. Or Intel Arc cards. Depending on the available power, you can install many different cards. So all the major manufacturers—Nvidia, AMD, or Intel... The power target shouldn't be too high. Over 500W. But I think it’s clear to everyone that 500W is excessive for a laptop! 300–400W is more than enough to outperform today’s latest gaming laptops 🙂 2

I'm assuming it should be able to cool at least a 250 watt GPU since my full 3080ti mobile is a 200 wTt card and never hits above 60c in gaming 1

I'm assuming it doesn't have to be plugged in differently

I'm assuming it doesn't have to be plugged in differently In the picture, you can see how the two ports are configured. These ports transmit the DisplayPort signal from the desktop graphics cards to the internal display and an external DisplayPort! Unfortunately, this was the only signal configuration possible because the MXM board could only handle that much! With the cables connecting the desktop graphics card to my board, full integration of the desktop graphics card into the P870xx series is possible!!!

Curious you are using both MXM connectors? Yes, that was my plan from the start. The P870xx doesn't have automatic lane detection. Unfortunately, only 8 lanes are routed per MXM port. That's how Clevo designed it. My solution is a modification that allows the desktop graphics card to support all 16 lanes! :-)

My solution is a kit, so anyone who really wants to can install it themselves.
